I can’t even begin to express how lucky I feel to not only have seen but actually filmed some of these incredible shows back in the ‘90s. Those nights are etched in my memory, but there was something special about this one at the Manchester Apollo-it was a night for me to make some last-minute decisions before the two-night Wolverhampton shoot with four 35mm cameras. It was intense.
We shot on the most gorgeous Fuji stock, the kind of film that makes every frame look like a painting. However, the negative alone cost me £3,500! That’s a staggering amount of money, especially when you’re living on the dole. Every penny felt like a gamble, a crazy risk. But I was so determined, there was no turning back. It was one of those all-or-nothing moments, where the stakes were so high you couldn’t help but pour everything into it. And looking back, I’d do it all over again.
