TBH I love this album Perfect mixture of their signature sounds from every era plus the new never heard before things We Live Forever Timebomb Zone and NS1 Sounds like Experience/Jilted tunes made today :D And Boom Boom Tap reminds me so much of the Charly Sampling And that Acid on GMaS oh god :D We Live Forever is definatelly Their Law/Voodoo of the 2018 Champions of London sound more like TDIME track to me I like it but it sound to similar to the roadblox for me And the Title track is a really good BigBeat-movie ost like track :D The Only thing that I will change is Resonate as much I love that track it sounds just a little too empty for me :/ Edit after 2 years: My fav Prodigy album defo has to be the Music for the Jilted Generation, it's just an amazing journey thru all that different influences, also being one of the most influential albums for the music in general... The Fat of the Land might be more popular, but it was the MFTJG, which went over all that borders between the Ravers, Guitar music lovers, and Hip-Hop fans, showing them, that in fact they are about the same thing!

This album is no 3 of all their CD's for me. I will never understand those low ratings of it. It's Prodigy's back to form. Some oldschool blended together with a few modern twists of Liam. It really stands out for me, because it sounds fresh yet three-dimensional. I can't say that about 2 last albums.

I thought this album was just solid overall, I wouldn't say it's better than The Day Is My Enemy - but I like how some of the songs went back to the old Prodigy sound. Fight Fire With Fire had a good beat, but was ruined by the vocals (didn't exactly fit with the instrumental imo). I'd probably give the album a high 7.
@KrillLiberator
@KrillLiberator 5 лет назад
I'm going to get roasted for this, but I'll say it anyway. They started to lose it when they let Keith sing on everything. He was an amazing dancer back in the day (seriously, check out the videos) but he's not my idea of a good singer. He gurns, he sneers, he sounds like a high-school Johnny Rotten. And he has the social graces of a potty.

production on Invaders was definitely much better, I will admit. TDIME had better hooks and was just more easily memorable though imo
@tonylavagnaart3865
@tonylavagnaart3865 5 лет назад
@@TheWonkyAngle Fair enough. I will say that I think production is far more important than hooks when it comes to that kind of music as its more about beats and less about lyrics. One thing I do very much like about the new album is it has more of an emphasis on old skool electro and less of that punk rock theme that Liam has been incorporating into his music for years. As much as The Prodigy like to refer to themselves as a band, to me they're really just a music producer and dancers who on occasion recite sime lyrics. I think calling themselves a band does them a diservice
@thefinkie6459
@thefinkie6459 5 лет назад
Hard agree with TonyLavagnaArt here. I was very surprised to hear you place TDIME higher. I think what makes IMD rank so much higher for me (besides the obvious vast difference in production quality) is that it is much more varied. I also find it faaaar more memorable - I could sing you every song on that album at any given time, which is something I can't even say about the previous albums. Perhaps it is more to do with my personal experiences with it - I never got the same kind of connection with The Day Is My Enemy, which was released long after I recovered from my The Prodigy obsession :D
@tonylavagnaart3865
@tonylavagnaart3865 5 лет назад
@@alextrusk_ Id say the difference between the prodigys first album and their second album is that MFTJG incorporated rock samples. Im not sure how you think IMD was their first rock album when Their Law and Poison have massive rock influences. Liam then doubled down on using rock samples on Fat Of The Land.
@tonylavagnaart3865
@tonylavagnaart3865 5 лет назад
@@alextrusk_ Who Their Law was written by is irrelevant, it has a rock influence. Poison video had Liam playing drums mate, it visually tried to portray The Prodigy as a band rather than a producer, hence why I mention it in relation to rock, but i agree that its more big beat than rock.

Enemy was like left overs from invaders, invaders was an improvement on outgunned, outgunned was a direct reaction to the over commercialisation of fat of the land. No tourists eclipses ALL those albums. As both an electronic & metal guy, I'm delighted he's got back to his roots, the whole rock crossover thing never worked . This is a solid 8/10

I'm completely with you, and I'm a massive Prodigy fan. It's their weakest album by quite a bit, and I can't quite get my head around the positive response. It's not terrible, but as you say they are capable of more. HOWEVER as usual it makes a hell of a lot more sense when you go and see them live. This one and TDIME are essentially collections of tracks that have been made to play live, and their sets IMO from TDIME onwards have been the strongest since the 90s. Tracks like Champions of London may be not particularly interesting to listen to at home, but in a room full of people at full blast with Maxim and Keith yelling at you it makes so, so much sense.

Experience - AWESOME Music For The Jilted Generation - AWESOME The Fat Of The Land - AWESOME Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned - AWESOME Invaders Must Die - AWESOME Then at this point, Howlett evidently went deaf and totally lost the ability to produce and decided that compressing every song as far as possible was the answer. The Day Is My Enemy - a too-long blur of monotonous noise that just leaves the listener exhausted and bored. No Tourists - A definite improvement. The production and mastering is still absolutely painful to listen to, but the songwriting is much stronger and more memorable, the sound is more varied, and the Ho99o9 feature is fantastic. Still, as you said, the production majorly lets it down, so it still comes nowhere near the level of the first 5 albums.

I absolutely love this album! I love these kinds of Prodigy tracks. Someone here said it was just like a b-sides album, but I love Prodigy b-sides. I’m always so excited when they bring out a b-side. I feel like these songs are less affected by needing to be a ‘stadium banger’ or whatever. I hated Nasty, Wall of Death and Get Your Fight On. I thought that was the worst side of the Prodigy and I was glad Keith and Maxim were kept away from this a bit. Although, obviously I love them live. For me, this stands alongside the first 3 albums.

The fact this album only took about a year to make says it all. Normally we have to wait at least 5 years for a Prodigy album, but when one does come out, you really feel that all the time Liam took off, he was working away hard at the album. Now I'm not saying he didn't work hard here, apparently he crammed in a bunch of late nights to get this done, but it only took a year to make, and that shows. None of the tracks are as refined as their older work and just made to go off live it seems. I really hope the next one doesn't come out until at least 2023 or 2024, because although the long wait is painful, the result is amazing. But if they're going to do EP's now (like Liam has hinted at for a couple of years now), at least they should come out every two years or so.

Pretty much, my entire point here is that with other Prodigy albums, Liam's taken at least a few years to write (eg that past couple, IMD: 2006-2008, TDIME: 2010-2014.) And No Tourists was only 2017-2018. What I'm saying here is that this album took a lot less amount of time to make and it shows.

Hello mr wonky...jilted generation was 1994..I’m from England and was partying then..your right in saying it was the time of the criminal justice bill,but didn’t stop free party’s ,the scene just changed more due to the drugs and how jilted we were all becoming .I think there albums are a kinda reflection of the times in England/the world,to me anyway ,we’re all different ,and have are own interpretation of the music individually.. but to be honest man it’s about the live act ,that’s were there really at mate..I saw them at the Milton Keynes bowl..people were going crazy,also at the same there were a lot of ecstasy/speed type legal highs flying round England like wild fire,and so were the crowd..I got the dvd 2,Lol..but you don’t need drugs to see them ..the buzz is closest to the real hard dance punk vibe I can find without a good free party...invaders is one of the best albums I think..go see them,tell ya friends..help them give America some fun ..lol😀

Oh, someone is angry, because someone said about his own opinnion over music :cccc Love the Prodigy, but daamn, it's just the single opinnion, and for me It's good for people to have their own opinnion, even calling the AONO as the best one, I won't change anyone's thought about any track ever

A bunch of prodigies in the comments. Besides Experience, I have held little interest in the band.

It's their worst album, the only thing I like is the cover, it's the only thing that is spot on.... I will never listen to this album again, and I give up all hope for the next one, it's game over... Liam just lost the golden touch, he can keep on trying but it only will get worse.....

Fat of the land is when prodigy sold out and went pop!! This is when everyone new about them. Prodigy will always be about the beats and bass over guitars. That's what this album has done!!
