The problem is that the team they were playing against couldn't score even when it was 5 on 4 therefore, leading to a wide open cherry picked in transition. If the other team could score effectively, it would give the team time to get back on defense.

The only games they lose if when the other team can run with them and really lock down, or if they slow down the tempo. Chino forced so many possessions to be less than 8 seconds so they made poor shots and then went down and made the easy shot. It's part of the play style it's not him not playing defense.
