The Promise is a musical passion play, depicting the biblical story of Christ, from prophesied birth to crucifixion to resurrection and ascension. First (and currently) staged in Glen Rose, TX in 1989, in 1996-2002 a slightly different version of the play (with a few different songs and a different narrator) was produced and recorded at the Will Rogers Theater in Branson, MO starring the Brooks brothers.
I am uploading this because I did not want it to be lost. This musical was one of my favorite works of art as a child. I got to see it live and my parents bought a VHS, which I've had for years. I have never been able to find it anywhere else. As it is becoming harder and harder to play VHSes, and my own copy is 12 years old, I digitized it to preserve it, and I'm posting it in case other people who were as touched by this work as I was are looking for it too. I apologize for the poor quality. As I said, it's a VHS tape from 1996 played on a VHS player that might be just as old.
