Thanks mate, great video! 👍 I did not want to buy a faux leather jacket at all because I thought I would come over as "fake" for wearing fake leather. But your video convinced me it's totally cool. I'm gonna buy a brown one now! 😎
TBH its easier to clean, condition, and color a real leather jacket. However, you must have extreme patience to actually take your time. Its good to know how faux leather works. Stitching is extremely tricky from what i saw you can stitch the broken one because its the inside of it the problem of it would be if it went through to the outside of the jacket.
my brown faux leather jacket from CK i got over 4 years ago is still as new, I think it also depends on which brand u bought it from. it's a perfect time to buy them now when it's got the blk friday sale. I wouldn't trust the quality from the ones on amazon that are unheard of, even if it's real leather
I have three Faux leather jackets and they still look brand new. I work at an upholstery shop and the secret to keeping them looking so well is, I use Scotch Guard spray. Scotch Guard keeps the moisture in the jacket, and it prevents the leather from peeling and it leaves my jackets with a great shine
I've bought 2 real leather jackets recently to try on and compare and went with a faux leather since the faux wasn't pitch black color, and had the detailing I wanted (mock epaulettes, back gussetts, and a nicer cut --similar to Saint Laurent ones).
@@edifystyle8445 the faux leather from Zara was better in terms of having no odour, but also having a better sheen. Pitch black leathers look kinda bad but this one looked like a lighter black color in most lighting.
My beloved faux leather Guess jacket broke down after 2 years. It broke me heart, I really love that jacket. 💔 I would never buy another faux leather item again. My faux leather pant, skirt, coat are all ruined after a year or 2. There are real 2nd hand leather items out there, I would go for them instead.
My frustration with faux leather is it will inevitably peel and tear. I have had 3 different jackets and vests peel and go to absolute waste. Sadly, this makes me not want to buy faux ever again. Such a waste.
I like PU leather because I like changing styles of jackets and it doesn’t cost that much for me to do that, I would get tired of wearing the same jacket that’s why I don’t bother buying the expensive stuff, I’ve had a faux leather jacket for ten years with no signs of wear
I own 2 real black leather jackets one being medium size, and kinda of big on me the other one fit me perfectly however it’s more of a leather blazer look but still masculine on me and. I got one faux leather biker jacket to me I wear my biker jacket the most because since I’m 18 it’s my fav jacket to wear didn’t get a single break since I bought it for $100 however I might buy one more small back real leather biker jacket if I go to any thrift stores if they have any I love both of them tbh and I find faux leather good for teens.
LOL! It's funny, cause I came here right after seeing my leather jacket disintegrated. And it was a H&M black one too, the one you're holding. My heart... cause it really looked good.
When you hesr fake leather it kinda has a negative sound to it but honestly it can be better than genuine leather because the synthetic ingredients make it more Durable than genuinely which ofc is made of animals skin is able to damage easier. Its also great for vegans if you sre the type of vegan who stays away from any and all product's made from animals including clothing. I was vegan a few years back and got a faux leather jacket and it changeed my mind completely on it because i realized it was better than sny real leather jacket i once had.
Excellent video…Thank you for all the information! Just bought a cute faux “leather” crop jacket and like it bc the sleeves are super short... But after just wearing one night towards the end of the night, noticed it smelled slightly fishy. 😵💫 what do they recommend as far as washing, I heard you can wash them once in a while… or use equal parts water to vinegar and wipe down. Then air dry. What do you think? Thanks again!! 🫶🏼
Nice video, informative and in depth along with the fact you dont say "Uhm" or erm. My only suggestion is to take deeper breathes so we don't hear the pauses. Although I ain't judging you too hard I have to take alot of breathes too
I have a love hate thing with faux leather....until they make something that keeps it from pealing and cracking I wouldn't in vest in another piece of PU clothing.
Hey, depends on use are wear, you can get about 5-6 years out of it. Increasing will depend on how frequently you wear it. Unfortunately just due to body soils & use the polyurethane will wear down.
Deadass came here because it's about to be Halloween season and I am debating in getting the Micheal Jackson's thriller Jacket but not sure to get the real leather or Faux! S.O.S HELP
Hey!!!! Ok so if you just want the feel for the jacket for the costume I’d say go with Faux, costume are good, but they are only for a brief moment and spending that much on a jacket may not be worth it. If just have to buy an authentic leather jacket make sure it’s good quality and fits; you’ll be wearing a while, I hope you like the color red. I hope this helps.
If you’re looking for a red leather jacket to wear alongside your frequently worn outfits then get a good quality one, if it’s just for a costume for halloween then get a faux jacket.
Would not be better to buy a cheap cowhide or lambskin real leather instead? I mean between 100 to 150 usd. There are even some cowhide jackets under 60 usd from small shops. They are not that beautiful as a 1k jacket yet they do the job and will last some quite good couple of years.
Yes, true some I do prefer lamb but most will cost you $200-300 on the low end, faux leather just gives people the option to have different colors & styles
True. You are not hurting animals but if the cost of buys 3 jackets that break down over time are you really saving anything. It’s just a thought. I’ll still rock both!!!
@@edifystyle8445 I used to wear faux leather because of the cheaper prices but lately i have got real leather stuff. I bought some days ago a leather coat made of cowhide, extremely heavy, thick and pebbled leather. That one is with the drycleaners right now. I also have a sheepskin one, which is way lighter but i would think, very, extremely light and i am afraid of ripping it or damaging it, that's why i got the cowhide one. I will also buy in a couple days some cowhide boots as well. Greetings sir
Hey!!!! Thank you so much. I have both faux & real leather in my closet; but mine are mostly lamb. Congrats on your coats, I hope the last you as long as you wish them to.
With the faux leather, does it breathe? Or does it get really hot and sweaty inside while wearing it? Like, I know they are water resistant on the outside, which is nice, but if you're sweating in them, then you're getting wet anyway.
@@edifystyle8445 It's a two part question. You didn't answer whether it makes you hot and sweaty wearing it. How does it compare to real leather in that regard? Is it hotter or cooler than real leather?
I’m sorry I thought I did. Usually they keep me warm, faux leather keeps you warm but I will say if it’s lined properly it should keep you comfortable, I will say it’s bout the same
Do you guys think a discounted Macy’s faux leather jacket would work? My forever 21 jacket is too small and tight on me after I went to college. It was an XL and I’m 6’5 and under 300lbs
Honestly I like both & own both but I will say I am rougher on my faux leather than I am on my real leather. That’s why there are pros & cons to getting it
Love your name! Definitely wear its meaning well imo. Definitely seem like a kind and courteous person to me. Bruh, that smell though... lol. Living for the yellow one!
Hi!! If properly cared for it can last years, but the more frequently you wear it it will begin to wither or turn. I’ve had ,one for 5-7 but I also rotate them out.
Real leather will last you 10+ years especially if it’s protected & cared for over time. Real leather will wear as with anything else but b/c of the material it will last much longer. I hope this helps
There are no pros to wearing plastic. Ask yourself this, if your fashion choices are a statement or a reflection of who you are or want to portray to the world, what does wearing a cheap knockoff, something meant to deceive others, say about you. To anyone who thinks no one can tell the difference, you do you. Not that long ago no one would’ve been caught dead sporting this. Maybe it’s just our vacuous throw away culture of the times. If cost for the real deal is prohibitive, buy used. Leather can be cleaned if that’s an issue for you. If you just won’t do used, then save up. Some things are worth waiting for. A quality leather jacket is an investment that can last a lifetime, even passed down as an heirloom. It will develop patina and character over the years. If that says something about myself, I’m good with that.
I greatly appreciate your input, but some ppl like faux leather others don’t it just depends on the person & their personal decisions. Thanks for watching!!!
@@alvaroochoa5238 buy second hand. If you still can’t afford one, then why settle for a fashioned garbage bag. Get something else. I can’t afford a Rolex, even an old second or third hand one, do you think I’m gonna sport a cheap shitty fake one to compensate? Hell no. I’ll look for a quality brand that I can afford. I consider myself a genuine person so why would I not present myself as one.
@@triumphlover7455 its not that deep, its just a article of clothing at the end of day, i see people everyday with these faux jackets, and not one normal non - gatekeeping person cares, if it looks fire, and can last atleast over a couple years, who cares? also what if someone desides they dont like the aesthetic of a leather jacket? boom there goes 500 bucks, atleast with this "poser" material you wouldnt have broke the bank if you decide you dont like it. but thats just my SUBJECTIVE opinion, like yours.
Faux leather is garbage there is no pros of it . Want jackets for fashion ?try denims , corduroy , cotton , wool any fabric rather than that plastic waste clone of leather. Real leather is timless and looks better as it ages.
How about giving out a more cheaper alternative for us working class folks here. Like how about military style jacket's?? or parkas??? because after finding out the true cost for a true leather jacket I realized that I never had a true leather jacket.
Leather have many varieties and its cost depend on that , such as 1. Which animal ? 2. Full grain leather or split leather ? 3. What type of tanning and dyeing done on it? . 4. Craftsmanship Avoid brands. For fashion sheep leather is best as it is very thin already and difficult to split so what you get is full grain and also it is light in weight so good for jackets
