@@CHICVOYAGE No, you can see the international top of dangerous countries and u can see Mexico at the worst places in that tops. Mexico is safe only in some places like Merida, Queretaro, etc.
I lived in Singapore for 4 years and recently in covid I have shifted here back to india..............My father is an engineer.....He has worked in many countries but when i asked him colleges (from many renowned universities in different countries) he rejected almost all the countries but when I said Singapore, he instantly agreed..... Of course safety and security is the biggest reason ......I love singapore.... Just 6 more months and I'll be back......
I lived in Singapore for 8 years. It is diverse, fun, expensive and add all the pros you mentioned. You can chew gum but you cannot sell or import them. As a person of colour you will face racism in Singapore as a con. And city keeps on getting expensive especially real estate. Post covid the entertainment had been severely curtailed in the city compared to before, so its a bit boring now I guess.
It's interesting what you say about racism. I've heard it's very pro diversity and it's history was founded on inclusivity so that's very interesting. If I can ask, what kind of situations did you face?
Racism? LMAO. Probably the last thing you’ll ever experience. You only think of that because you think people are all up on your business but it’s just in your head LMAO. Singapore is so diverse that people don’t care what race you are, and Literally, almost have of people are dark skinned indians and malay. Don’t play that shi here.
@@jlee739 what are you basing this off? I can more than confidently say that racism is definitely a thing in Singapore, having experienced it more than I should've had to. Just because racism isn't as overt as in other countries doesn't mean it doesn't exist
U missed a couple of things on the Con section. SG dont ban chewing gum. SG bans the import of chewing gum. U can come from any other country, chew gum on our streets, dispose it correctly. No problem with that. The american kid was caned not only due to graffiti. He was charged with more than 50 counts of vandalism. And he pleaded guilty to vandalizing the cars in addition to stealing road signs.
After he was back in the states, he was cited in Florida for a number of violations, including careless driving, reckless driving, not reporting a crash, and having an open bottle of alcohol in a car. Later, in 1998, still in Florida, Fay was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, charges to which he confessed but was acquitted because of technical errors in his arrest.
Thanks for the clarification. I keep traumatising my son about not chewing gum in Singapore. I always thought the caned boy just got caned for chewing gum.
@@Looloowa74 , just to add on. The act of chewing gum isnt criminal. But back in the days, most of us were irresponsible in disposing those chewed gum. And that had caused a lot of issues on hygiene but most importantly the maintenance and repairs of public places. U see, we had our first Metro/Subway in the mid 80's. With that in mind and the usual problem with gum being stuck on the escalators, causing an insane amount of money to repair for a mere gum is not feasible nor effective. So to prevent more maintenance and repairs to our Metro/Subway, we ban the import of gum. That was the reason behind it. Nothing mythical or draconian.
Lamma Al-B. Now you know, you just can’t import chewing gums but can chew gums. You just can’t find anywhere in Singapore that sells Chewing gums, and most of us go to other countries to buy chewing gums.
I've been there in 2013" good Singaporean people' I once got lost on the road and then asked people around he showed me the way and gave me money" love from Indonesia🇮🇩😁
I've been to SG and some other countries but honestly I would have preferred living here. I love the people, the place, their lifestyle and man, just everything about it..
Nice video. I’ve never worked in Singapore, but I have visited several times. I’m not sure that the suggestion that Singapore relies on expatriates is true (unlike, say, Dubai). Singapore’s universities and schools are excellent, and my feeling is that a generation of extremely well educated and entrepreneurial Singaporeans occupy most of the jobs. (Exceptions might be in the hospitality industry - hotels, bars & restaurants - as I think a lot of employees there are Malaysian.) Also, Sentosa island wasn’t a prison - it was part of the British defences of the island, as it overlooked the main harbour.
Thanks for the comments. Yes I agree well educated locals but they are a bit coddled by the government and I've been often don't occupy the leadership of management roles due to a collective or group mindset. Clarification on Sentosa. Formerly used as a British military base and then a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp
Fair enough - you’ve worked there and I haven’t. Thanks for the clarification re. Sentosa - I wasn’t aware of the Japanese aspect. In fact, before I visited the National Museum there I was pretty ignorant of what happened to the local population between 1942 and 1945 - education in the UK tended to focus on what happened to the British military prisoners of war. Then I learned about the killings of Chinese Singaporeans, and the suffering of the population during the occupation, especially in the last year or so of the war, and was duly humbled.
Our Govt is not a control freak and we are not stupid people. There are Singaporean in management role too. I find that your knowledge of Singapore are very basic and you don’t know much! About the haze, it’s from Indonesia farmers burning their land for farming purposes and between Governments of both countries, things were work out and there is no more haze.
Singapore’s universities and schools are excellent, and my feeling is that a generation of extremely well educated and entrepreneurial Singaporeans occupy most of the jobs I would agree with this statement. What I do worry about is on one hand Singapore says they want global talent but then other hand they don;t offer a Point based PR system! without job offer in hand! So they are competing with Canada and Australia ! AUS has a 2 tier system, a 2 /4 year Work permit ( similar to Singapore) but at the same time you can apply for PR without needing a JOb offer in hand , The Self sponsored Employment pass that too not renewable in Singapore required you to earn atleast 18000 $ per month in your last job and they sya there is no pathway to PR after that!
The gum law if my favorite. Gum chewing is one of the most annoying habits people can have. Smacking lips like a cow, clicking it every few seconds and spitting it out on the sidewalks or public places. The biggest reason for me however is because I have misophonia so, certain noises extremely bother me to the point of anger and anxiety. Think of it like someone scratching the chalkboard with chalk. The fight or flight response kicks in and you'll either have to get away or block out the noise by covering your ears or wearing headphones. The specific voices that really trigger my misophonia might only bother the average person slightly but they can put up with it for a while before it gets really tiring, but for someone with misophonia its like being tortured....
It seems that your cons are a few more than your pros. I love going to Singapore! Love it! I wish Australia was just half as good and safe as Singapore.. I wish Australia's tax rate was as low as Singapore's. Instead Australia's tax rate is a ripoff. If one doesn't like Singapore or find it "boring" one has obviously not read up on Singapore, and really should give it a miss. Singapore does not sell its daughters and wives like Thailand does. I've been to Singapore around 7 times. I feel right at home there, and love the strictness! Religions intermix in marriage. Malaysia is also a wonderful country, but one cannot claim Malaysia to be anywhere near as safe as Singapore.
Singapore’s Tax is lower because it’s a city-state, Australia is one of the biggest continents on earth, and managing 25 million people inside it costs big money. Roads, infrastructure and environmental management are incredibly expensive. I do envy Singapore’s efficient government though! Easily one of the most intelligent and effective governments in the world.
Haze is only like once every year or two. The biggest con is our country is stricter than most countries in the western world but because we’re strict, we much more predictable and stable than other countries.
This is one of my options for Uni aswell. I’m not sure I want to go there over some other Asian countries though currently weighing up all the pros and cons
If given a chance to live in other country. I will definitely choose singapore. I've been to SG last week and the place are so clean! Very organized and very safe to walk even at night. Well it is expensive but it is worth it!
Just on the food "cleanliness"... I was there years ago, and ate at an (expensive) beach restaurant & got food poisoning from eating a Marinara pizza, which caused me to be laid up in bed for 4-5 days. This is probably not a cleanliness problem but bacteria breeding in hot weather.
I just graduated college and wanted to move aboard( I live in America) but everything has been put on hold for now due to the global climate (COVID-19). I hope to be able to move to Singapore in the next 2-3years hopefully 🙏 Great video!!
I think America is better compared to Singapore especially in the healthcare quality (not including the cost). And in Singapore, the second generation have to serve national service for 2 years, otherwise you will be fined and jailed for years. So, think about it twice. Just about few months ago, i was planning to live in Singapore, and then i was informed about several things that i don't like if i live in Singapore. So, now i'm planning to move to either Australia or America
The haze was mostly from indonesia which was a sickening yearly event because the previous indonesian authorities couldn't be bothered about our complaints (maybe money will do the trick). BTW I would prefer the govt to impose strict actions otherwise the state will be in chaos like many countries.
HELLO SIR, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING SO MANY VIDEOS ABOUT CRPTO AND FOREX TRADE INVESTMENT BUT YET I'M STILL MAKING LOSSES TRADING ON MY OWN, PLEASE CAN YOU GIVE ME A GOOD STRATEGY OR AT LEAST ADVICE ON HOW TO MAKE GOOD PROFIT THROUGH INVESTING
Thank you for wonderful video! It is really interesting and useful! Plus motivate to travel! Cannot wait when all of us start travel again! Thank you for helping to promote tourism! love it so much
It's not that Singapore is an expensive Country, it's that Singapore like so many other upscale Countries are American Contract Commerce driven. If you get an American Contract to work in Singapore your money will comfortably match your expenses. #Vice_President_Kamala_Harris Singapore speech: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KdtMRIrzFJA.html
Thank you for the video. I have a question regarding moving there how would you get in touch with someone to help with a location and also schools who can we contact regarding apartments near a good school? Thank you again.
Hey there, Thank you for your comments - you briefly mentioned your overall experience in Singapore. Very clean, very safe, well connected public transportation, well working apps and especially amazing food, plus! taxation levels,, etc. I agree 100% - great *Your 'Cons' about missing iphone charing plugs. and tourist visas not working for entrepreneurs, is not comparable in my opinion
Hi my name is vikram Sharma from india and i m looking for jib in singpire so wanted to know whst is decent sal for ops manager and how much is the rent
Hey! I am currently studying interior architecture and I am thinking of applying to offices there for my internship. It is good when it comes to such jobs?
Sounds like a lovely place to move to. It's a huge plus to have all those chewing behavior laws that ensure very limited number of empty-headed, loudmouth muricans.
Hi I have enough living in Paris or India been living in the USA before Paris now iam single in my early 50s and alone I need a change people here seem nice food and life
The cons that you must notice.. 1.For riders or convoys of big bike, there is no way to do that in singapore! There is no highway to ride.. the distances were very short everywhere. 2. For raw materials of food, you must get from neighbour state/ country, johor bahru...its far cheaper! You can see tonnes of singaporean crossing the border every weekends to get it. 3. No mountains, jungle, lake and river.. how you can live without these 4 natural beauty? It's way too far to compare to thailand and indonesia and other nearby countries.. malaysia is not big enough but still can get those 4 .. 4. Government will scrapt your car after 5 years.. Singapore is great country to visit but not for living'. sorry my english! So, those are the things you must consider before moving to singapore... tq (im honest, don't get mad of me)😌😉👌 ♥️♥️♥️
Can you tell me more why it's not good for living? I am planning to work in Singapore after graduating college because it offers a good pay compare to other asian countries. Should I think back?
@@Mr.2GD give it a try yourself. Probably more opportunities than other asian countries due to the friendly international business climate and english speaking. There is more competition for those jobs as there is limited space. Good luck. Thst being said we are living in an era where traditional jobs and education are not the only path as youll see from videos on my channel
Costly price of living is a main factor reason Im not interested to leave longer here after several years been working in the island state but somehow it's a nice place for visit if u are only a tourist visitor
@@assilfarhat3047 ik it's just that Singapore is rlly hot and plus my bf is there but south Korea's fashion and cafes is interesting but idk they're both competitive I hope the best for you stranger hehe:)
Your water mark over the beautiful city annoys.. you can make it a bit transperant white in colour and reduce the size of you really care.. thank you and sorry for being blunt
@@denisequispeaguilar9106 honestly it is pretty expensive but if your a tourist it’s only for for a short time just make it worthwhile! The most expensive thing will my hotel stay and restaurants:)
CONS: 1. Socialist Government 2. Censorship 3. Singapore is the most expensive city in the world. 4. Working for a local company is a nightmare, you are constantly verbally abused by your boss, often times there's no OT pay, and many other negative things (too long to count them here). 5.Owning a car compares to owning a house in other countries. People are paying off their car for life. (mostly because of the COE and other government fees). 6. Prices in general are jacked up, on top of the GST. (Johnny Walker $7 in US, cost $70 in Singapore). 7. If you are not a millionaire, buying an apartment can take years, you have to be on a waiting list for long time to get (still expensive) a government built "HDB flat". 8.) You can get caned for a misdemeanor and get a lengthly jail sentence (all together). PRO'S: 1. It is very clean and safe place to live, although I have seen people still spitting on a busy street. 2. Shopping centers galore! 3. Sentosa and many other hotels are nice place to spend your free time. The aquarium, the botanic garden, the crocodile farm, the bird park, the zoo, etc. 4. Great variety of food, often delicious, but most of the time very unhealthy.
Singapore is an odd mix of socialistic central planning combined with some free market ideas. (Some westerner commentators very wrongly think it's a kind of small government, libertarian society) It's a mix which has undeniably got impressive results.
I wonder how safe the food is if Singapore is importing their food from China. China food standards have gone down the tubes with additives. It’s gotten to the point where the athletes in the Beijing Olympics are warned to not eat certain a food. I don’t think Singapore has vast lands to raise crops or farm produce.
This country have very very very low child birth rate mean 1 child per woman only so it's very very very easy to keep here peaceful environment and to do development
I don't think the chewing gum rule or the no vandalism rule is strict at all. Imagine if these 2 were allowed, Singapore will no longer look the way it looks. Does anyone like sitting on some train/bus seat to realise you sat on a gum? Or walk on the pavement and have gum stuck to your shoe?
Great country but getting a PR is difficult compared to ANZ/ Canada SG doe snot have a Point based Skilled migration although there are good jobs around!
Dude. The success of Singapore is mainly due to the diligence of the pioneer generation and the leaders. Your intro unfortunately gives an impression that UK helped contributed to where Singapore is today. By the way, thank god the American is caned.
Hi thanks for your Quick reply. Seems to be a remix. Cant find it, neither barbra or misty sounds like the intro, damn. But you have som cool content as well bro!
please don't compare Sing with Vietnam, based on the law and regulation there are immature. And I guess it will take a very long time to be anything near like Singapore.
