Damn dude love your chops you play like butter and a lot of feel !! The PRS hollow bodies and semi hollow have such a great sound. I dig that airiness which a lot of people don’t like but I do. Makes me think of Brian May’s guitar sound when overdriven.

Yeah, this model is in my GAS Radar pretty hard. Would love hear what more Vintage output Humbucker would sound like? But, this is already an amazing sounding guitar! Will have to play one and see what one feels like…? Looking for a good Humbucker toned guitar to round out my stable, and this model checks all the boxes.

Hi mate. The answer to your question isnt straight forward. A 335 isnt a hollowbody, it's a semihollow. That's quite a difference, particularly because some of them have some sort of railway sleeper down the middle, often making them heavier than solids. The PRS is light. It's also more resonant and more "hollow sounding" than most 335s. However, if you're after the 335 sound and feel, you should go for an actual Gibson 335. Be aware that it's much more awkward and difficult to play than the PRS (But still very much worth the trouble!!)
I got the Hollowbody II Piezo. I will say the fit and finish are amazing. I am not really a fan of the stock pickups. They are just ok. Obviously they sound great with you. I use it for acoustic gigs b/c the piezo sounds so good and I’ll switch to the magnetic pickups for leads. I was debating on switching the pickups but I read somewhere that it’s not really doable due to the piezo somehow.
You can swap the pickups with PRS pickups on a PRS piezo guitar with no issue. If you go with another brand of pickups you just have to wire the hot wire to ground and the cold wire to the pot or switch. Otherwise the piezo will be out of phase and sound weird when you blend the two.
They do have a different sound which is both a strength and a weakness. I don’t think that they sound very vintage as mister Reed Smith himself tends to endorse them, but they do allow for some very interesting experimentation. It took me awhile to like them but I finally did.
Yesterday my PRS Hollow-body II came in, it is really beautiful and excitedly I plugged it in and was extremely disapointed. I fiddled with my amp settings, adjusted the pickup height and so far nothing has worked. It sounds very ice picky, brittle and thin, like something is wrong with the pickups. The only way that I’ve found to kinda tame the ice picky sound is to roll the tone pot way back and then it sounds muddy. Also, the 58/15 pickups in my guitar have very little midrange and they just don’t sound very dynamic. Lastly, my Hollow body II looks amazing and it feels and plays really good too. So I’m not sure if I should spent the extra money and replace the 58/15 pickups with some Lollar Imperials or return the guitar?
The pickups in mine sound really Ice Picky, I have to roll the tone almost all they way off to tame down the brittle highs and then it sounds muddy, so that’s why. Either there was a bad batch of pickups installed or because they were engineered that that way because hollow body guitars can be more bassie due to the natural resonance of the guitar body. Either way, my guitar doesn’t sound like the one in the video demonstration.
