Such a small world...i used to work with Ritu at northwell...excellent nurse....pretty sure she is an excellent NP...was wondering what state you are in??....i did hear that it is harder in some states than others to start an np practice...could you shine a light on that please
Hi Fabius, As opposed to your 6 month update has their been drastic changes to you expected income. Is it less due to hiring more staff. And most importantly how’s your dad? Does he miss the office?

Hello Abisola, the main difference is Psych NPs can prescribe medication and perform psychotherapy (Much less training for therapy though compared to actual therapists (LCSW and LCPCs) while therapists can just perform psychotherapy

Can you do a video on medication management? Your reasons to increase, decrease or change a medication? Books you use that gives tips on what to prescribe? Rules for certain medications when writing prescriptions... etc I would like to see a video on this.
UGH! You're renewing my interest in doing psych NP in my own practice. But my wife is trying to talk me into FNP bc she seems to think the market is too saturated for psych. She almost had me until I started watching your vids. Any opinions?

Are you currently of the opinion that new grads should not start their own practice? I ask bc I am interviewing for a job that is pretty much autonomous when working with (out)patients with the ability to bounce ideas in between them or after hours. But that seems like the same setup for a private practice with a paid collaborator. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks! Just subbed and love the channel!

Tenzin, good question! A lot of us like using laptop computers versus desktops especially since we also have patients coming into the office. Having a huge screen can block your view with the patient and seem a lot less personable. If it's telehealth we can just drag the video feed in front of our notes while typing which is pretty easy. I use a desktop computer when I am working from home but when I'm at the office or anywhere else it's the laptop. I've been thinking about getting one for the front desk though!
