For the third straight year, police suicides have outnumbered line-of-duty deaths. And for this small police department in Lakewood, Washington, death has been a constant since it opened its doors 15 years ago. Now, they’re trying to make sure they don’t lose anyone else.

I think it’s funny how trolls show up in these comments, likely angry and sour about their criminal record.

What’s crazy is I just sat in class and listened to, in person, 3 ex-convicts who killed people and were originally given life in prison, tell “their story” about how hard prison is, how much of their lives they wasted behind bars, and their childhoods. Because they are talking about giving back and living their lives better everyone in class commends them and gives empathy. Then there are those episodes on RU-vid by Jubilee where ex-convicts were talking about their experiences with the unjust system and the cops who were sitting across from them were giving them empathy. Yet, cops get none. SUCH A DOUBLE STANDARD. Boo hoo for everyone who felt wronged by police and our justice system but when it comes to the individuals that enforce it... 👎🏻 People are so backwards. I know many good cops personally who police their own communities and hood where they grew up. They are giving back and so few of them had to kill someone to do it. Every call can be a negative experience. Remember it helps to counteract a negative experience with 5 positive ones.

Dam straight. And the media, race industry, polticians and Activists all contribute to the hatred & entitlement towards police.

I've never done anything criminal but I've never had a positive interaction with police officers they've always been disgusting tyrants. I never call the cops if I am in trouble. They are just a gang at this point

@@pebblepod30 Oh you mean how please get away with murder all the time right. We have numerous incidences of them planting drugs abusing people and oftentimes getting away with it so no the police do not deserve our sympathy they're paid a lot of money to do a job that's mostly fairly easy.

Great video, but please delete the ad at the end. It covers up the message for the suicide hotline. You're not sending a very good message when you talk about mental health for police officers then cover up the message for how to get help.

Bruh this is what every career criminal goes thru. Imagine arresting your reflection over and over everyday.

This is excellent. What citizens need is stable & well law enforcement out there making sound decisions, especially considering US protocol dictates that they draw their gun so often.

Telling me that many officers suffer from a guilty conscience doesn't make me pity the police, it make me pity the citizens.
@jmburk55

You completely missed the message. How would you feel if you had to watch a 12 year old get murdered, your best friend kill himself, or clean up the body parts of a young family of 6 executed by a gang during a home invasion. There is no "guilty conscience". The brain can only take in so much trauma before the emotions overpower you.

Suffer enough to see children mangled and, people with their heads blow off? Very single day?

@@jmburk55 Funny you should say that I have seen a twelve-year-old get murdered by the cops and nothing happened to them. Police officers murder people every day and get away with it.

It's not the type of job you just transition from in a snap. They sgoyls have services yo help them like armed forces veterans.

Many do. The problem is the stigma that if you get help, you will lose the job that puts a roof over your family and food on their table.

That’s what police tell domestic violence victims. “ move, just leave, go to your parents”, etc etc. that is the absolute worse words you can tell a woman that’s just been beaten up.

The rate of suicide among police officers falls a close second to active military personnel. The third on the list is far behind. There has been a big push for both military and police. Both need lots of help overcoming the stigma of PTSD. Even after you leave, the trauma is still there. You cannot leave the trauma behind.
@aussiejubes
@aussiejubes 4 года назад
There's no need to think of one OR the other, there should be help for both. Shedding light on one issue doesn't take away from the other. No one should be helped "first", it's about getting help, full stop. Unfortunately it's a slog to get government funding at all, but if law enforcement can get some then it helps the cause of others. Don't see it as taking away from your cause. It helps. It's a flawed system but there's fundraising going on from many directions & for you to say that ANYONE in pain doesn't deserve help is savage AF & you should take a good hard look at yourself.
