It's sad that the sequel never saw the light of day, it's even sadder that there was a Netflix series for kids with a bad actor, despite nice action scenes that don't save an uninteresting scenario

Bernthal is awesome in the show. But the problem is that the Punisher is not an emotionally or morally complex guy, and the showrunners wrote him as one. Personally, I'd love a "No Way Home" scenario where this version of Jane's Punisher meets the Daredevil season 2 version of Bernthal's Punisher

Dont get me wrong, Thomas Jane is cool, but Jon Bernthal is the punisher. His acting in the show is hands down some of the best ive ever seen. An incredible show that managed to have plenty of violence, but actually a lot more story to tell.

His constant under his breath mumbling, head-bobbing and eye-shifting almost drove me nuts and have prevented me from watching it again, though I kinda want to by now. I *do respect* the man, no doubt about it. He's hard working, kinda simple but cunning, y'know, street smarts. And I think he's a real genuine guy, salt of the earth. To me Thomas Jane lacked Bernthal's rawness and animalism that helped sell him as Castle, but damn, did Jane nail The Punisher's menacing intelligence, his patience in building up tactics and an actual smart plan to take down Howard Saint's crime syndicate in the 04' movie. I always had trouble seeing Bernthal as intelligent enough to play the perfect Punisher. I'm curious, how did you like Ray Stevenson in the role? I think he was awesome, but didn't like the movie (Warzone) a whole lot.

I think that Thomas Jane is a great actor; but Ray Stevenson (Punisher War Zone) actually "looked" and acted the most like the Punisher, followed by a close second of Dolph Lundgren in the original. Thomas Jane is awesome...but just not big or menacing enough.

Despite some poorly written dialogue, scenes that haven't aged well at all, and other cheesy moments; I honestly think it's a solid movie and a throwback to when Marvel IP's started to take off with their film adaptations. Bloody, brutal, raw, and reminiscent of gritty movies from the 70s/80s. I give a 7 if not a 7.5/10 to the OG 2004 Punisher.

yeah , Punisher in DareDevil was great. If he would've had just abt 3-4 episodes more instead of lying in a Hospital Bed or Lockup ( Jail scene was awesome), Punisher would've cast a bigger shadow compared to Daredevil. Hope they make "The Punisher" series next just like DC made Flash after Green Arrow..!! This clip is awesome and it deserves its own feature film. Good Work guys. He brought so much gravitas and humanity to the role in the 2004 movie. Don’t get me wrong I think Bernthal was an amazing Punisher and I’d love for him to continue, but there was something so simply human in the way Jane portrayed the character. I would love to see him reprise the role as well.

not taking anything away from Jane, but he's more fitting to be a young Frank Castle than The Punisher. The version I like most is the Garth Ennis' one. The film needs someone looking more worn out, with cold dead eyes and can convey the pain he keeps inside. Since Jane is older now, maybe he can pull it off.

Jon Bernthal does a great job as Punisher too for Netflix. I think Thomas Jane is more silent and stoic but Bernthal is more brutal and you can see how hurt he is by the PTSD of the war, his family etc.

I think he was the perfect actor but the movie lacked a perfect writer or director. Why was it set in Miami? Why was the entire thing just a standard revenge film? Why was he setting up an elaborate psychological plot instead of just killing the bad guys? This short just goes to show that the problem was not Thomas Jane, but sadly that movie failing means everything about it has to go down with it.

I agree, it's basically doing a disney trying to appeal to the masses instead of doing the characters justice to make more money. Thomas Jane was amazing as punisher, he was the reason I was so interested in the character. if you play the punisher game with his voice, you are set!!!

When it was made the big studios had a different view of comic book movies and their potential success. Now after The marvel disney movies the industry has changed dramatically. I would love to see Tomas Jane again, but we have Bernthal and netflix now and we are stuck with it.

@@Maximus1Decimus Jane DIDN'T want to do Warzone. He felt the script was taking it too far in the opposite direction & making the character more goofy than serious. Had the second movie gone the more serious route he'd still be the Punisher.

I thought that as well - in my teens. Then I rewatched the movie this year and it doesn't hold up at all. The scenes are so predictable, the acting is wooden and cheesy, the characters are one-dimensional and some shit just beggars belief but was put in so the story/scene progresses. Just like how a bottle of ordinary Jack here catches fire. Like he couldn't buy some cleaning alcohol or something, no, it had to be product placement or whatever to up the "cool factor" even though it's impossible.

I've seen the first Punisher film with Dolph Lundgren. He did a fine job but I agree that Thomas Jane KILLED it in this version. He basically became Frank Castle.

@@largol33t1 the thing with punisher character is , the older you get - the more you can connect to the character. As a kid , I didn't like punisher all that much because of lack of super power etc ; but as an adult - punisher (along with daredevil) is right at the top spot for me.

@Gabe Stein the screaming was amazing, part of why I love his version of the character. Shows his anger, and that he's like a wild animal at times. Much more threatening, Jane looks like a normal guy, but Bernthol genuinely looks like he'd smash some asshole's skull without a care
