Sergeant (Frank Grillo) goes to the home of the man who killed his son to exact his revenge.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A vengeful father comes to the aid of a mother, her teenage daughter, and a defenseless young couple on the one night of the year that all crime, including murder, is legal in this self-contained sequel from co-producer Jason Blum and original Purge writer/director James DeMonaco. As the countdown to the Purge starts ticking, struggling waitress Eva (Carmen Ejogo) risks her safety by staying late at work to ask her boss for a raise. Later, as she returns home to her elderly father (John Beasley) and daughter Cali (Zo Soul), bickering couple Shane (Zach Gilford) and Liz (Kiele Sanchez) attempt to make their way out of the city following a frightening run-in with a gang of masked, machete-wielding thugs. While these five people are eager to seek sanctuary from the impending wave of violence about to flood the streets, a lone stranger (Frank Grillo) intent on seeking vengeance for the wrongful death of his son plans to draw blood from the man responsible. Armed to the teeth as he cruises the city in a modified muscle car, he gets sidetracked from his mission when he sees Eva and Cali fighting for their lives against a small army of black-clad soldiers. Against his better judgment, he rescues the pair, only realizing later that Shane and Liz also jumped into his backseat in order to escape a gang that disabled their car and were hunting them through the streets. When the stranger's car is similarly damaged beyond the point of repair, this unlikely group must stick together in order to survive the night. But little do they realize that their nightmare has only just begun.

The way he says "You took my boy" was really convincing. Not a lot of actors convince me, but that felt like the genuine reaction of a man who lost his child.

Well Frank grillo spent 7 years on a soap opera called The guiding light so in The guiding light has graduated a lot of actors into mainstream just about every Star that came from that soap opera went on to successful careers Hayden panettiere, and that chick from the perfect pitch series Brittany Snow if you don't become a star after being on guiding light you're not going to make it Billy Dee Williams started on guiding light he played the character heart jessup who ironically got caught in a love feud between two women and got shot accidentally and thus his character was dead but it led him to bigger and better things

@Firestrike some people don't feel guilt though. I want to forgive, but sometimes I can't. It's human nature to think the way that I do. It's human nature to want revenge and to not forgive. Maybe I will never forgive them for what they did. Maybe I do care about what Jesus thinks but feel like no matter what I do, it doesn't matter. I will never go to heaven. Who said that I was a good person though? Who said that any of us are really? I'm mentally ill though so when I get really upset, I black out and/or can't control myself so I don't know what I'm doing until I've done what I've done. That or I get really bad derealization and than I do something bad like that. I've tried everything, but I can't control myself. Does that make me a monster?

Do it. I wouldn't need a purge to claim my right. Let them forgive me. Forgiveness is something above me that I can never reach. I think I would have purged those two ladies if they took my chance to purge with the car lie. But I guess there's always next purge.

The thing I love about this scene is how the man instantly recognizes Leo. As soon as he asks if he knows what he took from him, he says he does. Shows how much he felt guilty over his mistake that he was able to instantly recognize the father of the boy he killed.

this movie was meh along with the entire series, but this scene is probably my favorite in all three films. there isn't any bad ass line like "you killed my boy prepare to die" or "this is for my son" or "revenge is best served cold". this is real emotion with real portrayal of loss and anger and sadness all rolled up in one. give frank grillo more jobs hollywood. this whole scene is how films should be made.

Is it me, or did the Sergeant actually have a better reason for wanting to Purge/kill someone in the whole movie franchise - and yes I know he didn't in the end but that's besides the point - as in he's actually known heartbreak and grief and he has a reason to be angry and to want someone dead - I'm not saying that I agree with it or that I think it's the right thing to do, but I just mean that wanting to kill someone who killed your child sounds a lot more reasonable than wanting to kill someone because you think they're a "homeless filthy swine" or because you think that they made money off you, even though it means you get good security and that they were just doing their job?

The producers are doing a Purge TV show on Syfy. It will deal with the other 364 days of the year, the motivations of what makes a person purge. I like how the series has evolved since the first movie. Becoming more nuanced, more depth, more character development.

In my honest opinion, Warren doesn't deserve forgiveness. He should've gone completely Zodiac on him and his wife. That would've been the best way to finalize his acts. As for Big Daddy, I'd have the alarm go off just before he fires. EDIT 11/22/20: Even better, leave the wife alive. Makes it devastating in terms of the story.

@@marvelous425 Because he could see how much the guy regretted what he had done (he didn't actually murder his son in cold blood, he was driving whilst drunk and hit him with the car, killing him, but he got off an a technicality). Also, the two women that he saved were able to convince him not to, especially the daughter, when she tells him that his son probably would not have wanted him to exact revenge and that killing the guy wasn't going to bring his son back.

It doesn't actually show it, the Sergeant just mentions that he was killed by a drunk driver (who is the guy that the Sergeant is threatening in this scene).
