His experience and influence in firearm design at SIG Sauer helped shape the products that later emerged from his own company, Q.

The Honey Badger's lightweight design and integrated suppressor are impressive, but the Rattler's reliability and modularity really stand out.

I like the honey badger because of the weight but every generation of the mcx I’ve shot has been super smooth. It’s not that typical piston recoil. Less gas to the face as well. I’m taking the mcx all day But I’d take the fix over the cross easily, it’s worth the higher price if you can afford it

7:13 To Kevin’s point on the light and cables. That’s the Cloud Defensive light. They use built in cable management as part of the switch that’s not being utilized on there on the Rattler. You guys need to tuck that thing up nice and tight like it’s intended to be used. Also, if the cable does somehow get snagged/cut they have a backup feature in the tailcap so you still have light. I’m a bit of a flashlight nerd 😂

He's wrong about the Honey Badger being more reliable than the Rattler LT. He helped on the project of the Gen 1 MCX. "GEN 3" Sprear/Rattler LT is far more advanced and the LT platform has proven more reliable than the honey badger with the Socom testing in 2023, that's why mcx's are in service in the states and in Ukraine right now, not honey badgers. The piston on the Spear LT/Rattler LT is way cleaner and more reliable than the Badger. I've shot a honey badger and it had to be cleaned every 500 rounds tops suppressed or it would stop running every time thru 6 K rounds. I Also have a Spear LT and I've never cleaned that gun 1 time and run 4K rounds suppressed so he is 100% full of sh!t and just completely biased because the Badger is his creation. The MCX LT series is far superior. Period.

Hint…if you’re gonna do a comparison, make sure it’s done with someone who isn’t biased. Also, ambi features are NOT a failure point. If your gear is causing a mag drop inadvertently, then fix your gear.

I'm a lefty and all I want to use ambi is the selector and charging handle. I've trained for so long as a wrong handed person that it's just faster for me to use my pointer finger for everything!

I have a canebrake personally and as a lefty I do like the ambi controls. That said i also have a q fix 8.6 blk and will get a boombox once they are released. Sig and q both putting out great products imo. Though I'll say Kevin could be slightly biased being well... Q is his company haha

We have a dust cover to keep the internals forms getting dusty in between shooting. That's actually crazy to me that you didn't defend the dust cover. Anyone that has slept outside for weeks at a time with their gun regardless of environment knows how important a dust cover is

I have a Honey Badger SBR and a Sig Spear-LT SBR, not the Rattler. The Spear-LT is 1lb lighter than the HB. There are more models and options on the Sig offerings also. I love them both and being an FFL, they are still not very affordable for the average person, but great for a collector. They are about $100 difference in cost, and I can't say which I favor. All I know is that I use Pmags without any issues. I have plenty of metal mags but use those for range only. You can get either in the .300BLK or 5.56. I love both rounds but prefer .300blk for home defense and it suppresses much better. but 5.56 is king as far as popularity. And yes, I do use the .300blk specific mags with the band bracelets at the bottom to easily discern the difference in the dark because mine glow in the dark. I personally do not think the Rattler isn't remotely comparable to the Spear-LT. Plus you can swap the stock to the HB style, if you so choose. Just food for thought. My Omega 9k for 9mm and .300blk is excellent in daily usage. I have a dedicated 5.56 can I swap around and one for my larger caliber rifles. I believe the results in the commentary would have been different if they weren't comparing the Rattler. But Kevin is definitely intelligent but opinionated that everything he touches is better than anyone else's. So, I take everything with a grain of salt. I know how good the HB is because I have had it a long time. I bought the Spear-LT this year and enjoy shooting it twice a week. They both work very well without issues. There are many other brands and models that compete with them also. DD and other name brands have an equal product.

I'm not sure what the big deal with dust covers. Prior military here, in the unit I was in, we've never had any issues, especially in the field with dust covers, and we used to throw our rifles around on many occasions. Previously, in a unit where we would be in the field for 48 days every 3rd month in Germany

Dust covers prevent ingress of foreign matter on adverse conditions. They are valuable for a serious use firearm being used in the field.

What is the size of that optic mount on the Honey Badger?

ANYONE who knows Eugene Stoners design and the TDP knows the dust cover is there for when the firearm is NOT in operation IE: Being carried, Being Slung, Being Transported, Being Stored and more. The dust cover is NOT and never was meant to open and close during operation Nor would you ever want it to. I must say this though…. Q is a very smart bunch and they Forward think and Evolve like the best of them when need be. They know how to get you thinking and know how to make people fumble over thought and response. People can say what they want but Kevin and company are Awesome! And fantastic at what they do. Overall - Q - is fantastic for forward progress in this industry and should be thought of as such!!

I wouldn't reject either one of them, if it feels heavy try doing a different workout, and I like triggers that go off soon as you touch them

honeybadger was cool when it came out. the life always is brutal and kevin should know that and improve HB. the reality is that rattler is literally a better gun. heaver means less recoil

99% of the people commenting their expert opinions on here have never and will never have any kind of experience with either of these weapons.

I’ve been waiting for this video forever. I really want both. The Honey-badger for at home, and the Rattler for on the go. Also subsonic 300 blackout bullets dimensions are slightly different than supers, and can malfunction in 556 mags. So 300 b.o. mags all day if you are only running subs. I appreciate Qs take on the industry, and wanting to share their philosophy behind why they do things the way they do. They are obviously doing something right.

Love the honey badger (own SD model) but swapped for the timney DH3, which I have set to 1lbs. All of these triggers are designed off of the American Gold AR trigger system, and honesty the DH 3 is the most refined and crisp. I do make people dry fire the weapon first so that they can get a feel for the trigger but the travel and reset is shorter, and break weight can be as light as 1lb

I like Q's stuff but they are boutique and it doesn't look like they are getting government contracts. I appreciate the stuff they put out things like the 8.6 blackout at 2.50 a round are wickedly unaffordable especially with today's economy.
