"It's a free country, man." I love the writing here. Emma rejects Jacob hard, but still has one tiny shred of forgiveness. Assuming Jacob's responses aren't too harsh.
I LOVE Emma and Jacobs contrast in the conversation, if Jacob is being antagonistic he says "earth to Emma" and if Jacob is sympathetic Emma says "earth to Jacob" it's like opposites attract but they have too much in common that they push away
Emma: *turns into a werewolf and rips Abigail's heart out, got chased by a werewolf, covered in blood, people dying all around her* Jacob: "Didn't you at least have a little fun tonight?"
I think some redemption or more story integration is what Jacob needed. Mainly, jumping in to save the rotor arm resulting in the main group getting away in the car, leaving Laura & Friends to kill Silas and whoever got werewolfized. Or even, Jacob being labelled as the main culprit at the end of the game with all evidence or something. Like, you can clearly tell he isn't ALL bad, but to have him be the jumpstart of the story just vaporized any likableness for most players. Hell, even just giving him some more screen time just so people can see his character a little more. Just a shame he had to be the scapegoat because he was super cool from chapters 1-3.
God, that's exactly what I've been complaining about, Jacob is the cause (indirectly) of them going through the same hell. The truth is that I hoped that he would have a little more prominence, a moment of redemption, like helping Laura and Ryan at Hackett House or at least change his attitude towards a more mature one. I know it is very easy to hate him for his arrogance and immaturity, but with little progress in the game you can see that he is someone very insecure who constantly seeks the respect, admiration and affection of others. The latter can be best appreciated when he becomes infected and turns into a werewolf.
It propably would've been that way if u stole the rotor arm and had it all the way through and if emma wasn't a worthless cnt. Had she not tore the group apart they would've left happily with nobody getting killed. Abi and Nick wouldn't go away in the woods and Jacob wouldn't be running after a worthless cnt in the island resulting him never even having the chance to return the rotor arm. They would all stick together and would've most likely all left unharmed
I don't hate Jacob for screwing with the van but he does annoy me that he can't take an no for an answer lol. I still believe he's not a bad guy tho, he can learn
He is obviously suffering from multiple mental problems, such as insecurity and abandonment issues. Doesnt mean we should like him, but understand there is a reason he is an insufferable manchild.
@@prime_1577 I'm sensitive too and I can take a no for an answer. It's got nothing to do with being sensitive but not respecting someone's no despite being told so. Not saying he's someone who'd force themselves on someone, just that he gotta learn that he can't change things sometimes.
i have a love/hate relationship with Jacob. i get it, you love her, but she broke up with you, dude. emma didn't trick him, she set her boundaries at the beginning of summer and he can't take no for an answer
This is the very definition of "There is no right choice". Jacob fucked up the moment he fucked the van up and made them stranded there for a single night, that depending on how you go about it can end either in total massacre or just trauma, a lot of trauma. The kind that will give you therapist trauma and cause a vicious cycle.
Honestly I hate it when people blame Jacob for the being stuck in there. They have been there for two months and didn't see any werewolf so Jacob thought it's no big deal to stay one more night. And Kaitlyn went along with it and people still blame Jacob? She could stop him but she probebly wanted another night with Ryan(so did Dylan). And they probebly would be ok if they stayed in the lodge like chris told them to. Then Dylan suggested campfire. Everybody exept Ryan(depending on dialogue choice) and abby, were up for it. Oh and you know what? Even in the camp fire they could go back to the lodge together and go to sleep and be ok after having some fun. But Kaitlyn had to give emma a dare of kissing nick or jacob(which she broke up with). Then emma had to kiss nick knowing people will get hurt and might run into the woods, then they split up and the whole shit begins. And people still blame only Jacob...the whole point is that a few teenagers who don't know about the werewolfs, wanting to do some fun and then get into this mess. And you don't see me hating on kaitlyn, Dylan, emma and jacob(4 out of 7 teens) for doing things that got them into this mess(which were ok in a place they stayed in two months and feel comfortable there). So why hating on jacob? Because they would be at home if he didn't sabotage the car? So we can argue that the Hakket family shouldn't have open the area for kids in the first place and put them in danger(small chance for danger with one full moon every month but still possible danger) or blame kaylee Hackett for trying to free silas... Sorry for writing too much, I had to rent a little...
Yeah, I agree with this. It's called dramatic irony: Jacob has no clue he's in a horror game, he just thinks he's gonna spend one last night with the girl he fell in love with to maybe further the memories since he knows they probably won't see each other after this. And yeah, Kaitlyn was as much to blame as Jacob was, as she watched him do it, and TOLD HIM what to do in the first place. If she hadn't, Jacob probably just would've fiddled with it and maybe not have done anything bad. It's like, if you watch someone kill a person in front of you and they're like "please don't tell anyone" and you don't, but that person gets arrested, you're going with them. It may not be as bad as the person who killed the other person, but you're still at fault for not arresting a murderer. Kaitlyn could've been like "no Jacob, we're going home". She wanted to spend time with Ryan just as Jacob did Emma, I just wish the devs furthered on that. I love Supermassive games. Until Dawn and House of Ashes are two of my favorite games of all time, but this... it just had too many mistakes, felt too rushed. Characters should've been written better, most of them were too unlikable. I think Dylan, Laura and Max were the only openly likeable playable characters, the rest I've seen mixed reviews about. That's just a shame.
@@heyimlate5656 yeah it's like blaming ashly(stupidly) for wanting Emily to LEAVE but she gets the blame for her death although MIKE is the one who SHOT her in the head... And I wish in the quarry the game would acknowledge Kaitlyn as guilty as jacob...it feels like the game punish only jacob... And I love until dawn tway more than the quarry(and loved all the characters). But the quarry is still good exept for what we discussed about jacob, and the ending felt rushed and not the "final showdown ending" we had in until dawn and house of ashes, which I wanted to. But in the quarry I did loved sam, dylan, max, nick, and jacob.i liked abby, Katlyn(kaitlyn could get more development, nick and max deserved a more screen time than what they got, abby and jacob could got a little more as well). Emma is ok but she annoyed me the most(-still gets her character). And Ryan felt overatted and way too much screen time I feel he didn't earned. I like most of the characters more than him, yet was forced to play him a lot.
bro i’m convinced ppl who try to make kaitlyn take the blame for smth jacob did are just internally racist😭 i love jacob so much but it is his fault and he was wrong. let’s stop holding white characters to lower standards bc lord knows if it was kaitlyn everyone would’ve gone mad.
not to mention kaitlyn didn’t care, but she def didn’t encourage it. she said it wouldn’t change anything plus she’s not the one who broke down the damn car it was jacob with his own hands
Mike is literally the whole of until dawn,mf went through the sanatorium by himself, killing a denizen in the most badass fashion possible in the process,as much as I disliked him,he not only proved his worth but carried the fate of the group on his shoulders GigaMike
@@mrsnazzypants4061 nah you're the one who's high af. Jacob is a delusional possessive man child who thinks he owns Emma and can't take no for an answer
Jacob died on my playthrough, which sucks as I feel like his whole character needs a scene like this where he's confronted for breaking the car in the first place. Unless you follow this specific path through the story, the fact that Jacob caused this is never really addressed or dealt with by the looks of it. And without it, Jacob is really not as interesting as the rest of the group as it's probably the only thing which makes him engaging.
Jacob is obviously a manchild. Extremely insecure and most likely has abandonment issues as a loner. His character is extremely annoying and a gigantic simp, but if u read between the lines you get the feeling that he probably never got treated very well by either childhood friends or family. I mean look at how good he is at handling physical pain. His only friend is Kaitlyn anyway, altough she, like everyone else, constantly degrades and makes fun of him. Literally no character has the wit to understand that Jacob needs a hug lmfao. Kaitlyn is a great character tho, so is Emma altough she is wayyy too manipulative and uncaring of how others (Jacob, Abi) feel. She is not a narcissist but she is defnitely self-absorbed and i have not seen her give a real shit about anyone else.
That's why these games are designed in way where you're not gonna get the complete story in ONE playthrough. Certain choices lead to certain scenes either being explored or cut out. That doesn't mean the writers didn't care, it just means you have to play the game multiple times and make different choices. People complain about the game being "unfinished" and "half assed" just because characters didn't get any extra scenes because of the choices THEY made. I respect the developers putting more effort into making it so the game doesn't play out the exact same way in EVERY playthrough. *Cough* Telltale *Cough*
@@knightfallprotocol The problem isn't that you *can* miss this scene, it's just that you in all likelihood *will* miss this scene which I feel is wrong given how important it is to Jacob as a character. I think that's a valid criticism even in a choice-based game, Jacob comes across as such a bland character compared to everyone else. There's no reason, for instance, that this sort of scene couldn't have happened when they meet earlier in the game, given that moment always happens provided both characters are still alive. That would fix this problem completely.
seriously, i liked jacob because i never got to see this side of him. i thought emma was the bitch that just used him over the summer and i never thought to think that she broke up with him bc he sees her as a trophy. throughout my play through emma and jacob were barely together and jacob was basically alone the whole night and that’s why i felt so bad for him
Jeez what’s with people in these comments being like “yeah I’m so glad he died cause Emma already broke off the relationship and he stranded them there” like people, come on he didn’t know there was freaking werewolves and didn’t think there was any danger. He tried to not just be alone with Emma but instead host a fun party for his fellow counselors to remember a great night. Also he try’s to either see if Abby is okay or try to get the rotary arm so everyone can leave. He may be a dumb jerk at times but he’s just a regular human being, someone who makes mistakes.
@@obnoxiousobserver3909 nah he deserved to die for putting them in this situation. even if he didn’t know there was danger out in the woods, he knows the others had lives they wanted to get back to. so he’s just all around selfish and a jerk

@@zackrobinson1692 both can happen. getting bit at the treehouse makes her transform in the car, but getting bit with the hunters makes her transform later when she's stuck with Abi
To be honest, I think if people got them killed in chapter 4 nobody would remember them until a character talks about them or until the end of the game 💀
So can Emma only survive after turning into a were wolf if she kills Abi or Dylan? Cause I want to have them reunite again but not at the cost of sacrificing Abi or Dylan
No...she can survive without being bitten...she later meets up with Abi and they later give silver shotgun shells to Kaitlyn which she uses to kill a werewolf thereby saving Dylan and Herself

The whole problem I had with Jacob is that Emma told him no and broke up with him and then he continued to force himself on her and force them to do things together. There's a scene where Nick asks Jacob if Emma even wants to get back with him and Jacob laughs it off and says "Why would I know what she wants." He doesn't care about her feelings at all, he just wants her. It's pretty shitty imo, regardless of the werewolf stuff.

I mean, they'd been friends since kindergarten. She prolly just chalked it up to Jacob asking dumb questions like he normally does but, yeah she could have put 2 and 2 together.

Jacob is the most pathetic and miserable playable character I've ever seen. The writers really wanted you to hate him. Edit: They even gave him the most pathetic deaths (drowning in the lake, getting shot by accident by Ryan, getting his HEAD STUCK IN A BEAR TRAP).
I just tried doing this with the real in it in quickly and whe werewolf swipes at her. But she didn't get infected ? I just went though the whole game again. And she was never infected !
Seeing the amount of hate for Jacob really makes me wonder, just how many of you have been in his position before? We have to remember that this camp has been going on for atleast 2 months now, that means Jacob and emma have been dating for two months straight at the longest, and given her personality i am almost certain she acted as if it was a real relationship right up until their last night and then went all "you know this is just a fling right?" i know this, because i have had that exact same relationship before, and it f*cking sucks to be in Jacobs position. I'm not saying he is in the right at all, it's his fault they all got stuck out there for another night, but i will say that he also isn't in the wrong entirely, remember it takes two people to have a relationship, and emma led him on the entire summer before suddenly cutting him off when it ended, and like how would you feel in that situation? That's just toxic AF to put that on someone your dating, casual or not. If she was mature, she would've broken it off a few days before the camp ended, to give Jacob some time to process that its actually over, and would be open to actual discussion instead of either berating Jacob for trying to talk to her about it, or leading him on even more by making him jealous or going skinny dipping with him. But nah, you go gurl, show that man you can lift your own bags and that his feelings aren't real all because you said so, QuEeN eNeRgY!! Edit: I really didn't think this comment would get that much attention. My intention was to roffer a different opinion from all the other "emma good, jacob bad" sounding ones that plague this games comment sections, mainly for the fact it gets boring to read the exact same comment over and over again. Anyway, i hope i gave some people perspective to what Jacobs character could be feeling, i think it's nice to empathize with story characters as a way to self reflect, but i guess taking stories seriously instead of turning off your brain and consuming is a bad thing in some sheeples eyes these days. Cheers.
My friends and I collectively agreed that Emma isn’t good for anyone. She fakes who she is through “acting.” She impolite, harsh, brushes Jacob off. Like the signs are there, this girl isn’t worth it. The only thing she has going for her is those large lips. Maybe my friends and I just aren’t into those types of girls. So it’s really easy what’s wrong with her and why no one should go out with her. She’s just one girl, she isn’t worth if she just thought it was a summer fling. I wouldn’t try to get back with that. I’d just be done, washing my hands. Time to find someone better. Analyzing Abby, she is much different in comparisons to Emma. She’s shy, quirky, dense, and she has the bright positivity with it too. Just like my views on Emma, some people aren’t into the shy and quickly girls. But for others that’s what makes her even better. For Emma I can’t or won’t think of anything that makes her an even better person to say “I want to go out with her.” She’s always on about her “onlyfans” and getting more subscribers. She always acting according to her, so you don’t know what she is really like. Maybe some people are into that, not that I know of
sabotaging the car and forcing everyone to stay behind because he wants a girl who has made it clear the relationship isnt going to go anywhere is him being in the wrong lol
Jacob maybe a jerk but Emma is low. That's an example you can't treat every relationship as a fling. There's a saying Fling someone , your a fling to yourself.
