Brilliant! You think that being governed by Brussells is independence? If an independent Scotland were allowed to join the EU, which is increasingly unlikely, we'd be a very minor _dependent_ state with status akin to Slovakia (just with a much worse economy). We'd be entirely dependent on handouts from the disintegrating EU and we would be required to join the eurozone and Schengen (which isn't really working out too well for the dependent states right now). However, Krankie's dream would come true - absorption into the vast, socialist bureacracy that is the EU. Where she could blame Brussells for her shortcomings instead of Westminster.
Really.. so what currency would we use? Would we walk back into the EU? Would the EU want a country dripping with massive debts? I'm thinking no. So we would be an independent country cast aside by the rest of the UK and disowned by the EU. Poverty would come knocking!! Also this independence would mean massive hikes in taxation and dare I say it austerity for the poorest Scots in the land.. so my advice before you go flag waving is think.

Firstly: Scotland is provided with a bigger voice by joining the EU, It gets to make the decisions something we have basically not been able to do in WM because apparently we should "Shut up and deal with it." Secondly: The Eurozone does not force the countries within it to adopt the Euro, but does state that it should AT SOME POINT move towards the Euro... And judging by the stock exchange the pound is about to plummet past the Euro when we exit the EU on January 1st with no deal. So more importantly why wouldn't we be using the Euro in due course. Thirdly: It's rich to talk about EU being bureaucracy when WM has Lords and other delegates that not one person in this country has voted to be in that position. If you seriously believe this Union is still working for any of the 4 nations in it you are deluded.

I am from Paisley in Scotland, I've met Nicola Twice, I've helped campaign for one of her MPs Gavin Newlands in 2015 and one of her MSPs Tom Arthur in 2016. (both successfully elected!!) And i can confirm that those times i met her albeit briefly, she was extremely nice. i am also a member of the SNP. now i cant claim to know her personally but i never suggested that i did when i made my initial brief comment..... i get this feeling that your an anti Independence person and probably a hater of everything that doesn't fit your world view

And very much unlike Theresa, even under a limited budget, Nicola has managed to pursue without economic turmoil - and before you quote the "£15bn deficit", this was accumulated by England, even though Scotland had a tax revenue of £56bn but was only given a budget of £42bn by the chancellor at the time, Osborne.
I have been reading Scotland's tax revenue are higher than the budget. Savings are important and not to live above the means. Conservation of resources and finances creates the greater possibility of prosperity and peace. Weapons of destruction are not an ideal source of long term prosperity. Research and development in the discipline of technology and resource conservation is the choice I would choose as opposed to arms. A national military maintained by the government is necessary for prevention and for naturally occurring disasters.

I don't think it was millions that didn't vote. Voter turnout was 50.4% almost 2 million voters and I doubt more than 3.2million are actually eligible to vote. Having said that, getting 48% of the vote and almost getting a majority a second time in a parliament designed not to have a majority is a remarkable achievement. They must be doing something right. Hating Sturgeon and/or SNP is an erroneous reason to be against independence. I don't like SNP but I hate the Tories more and I wouldn't vote for either. I will vote for independence and then try to get rid of the SNP and other deadwood politicians afterwards.
I'm very proud, as a Scot, of my country having elected Nicola Sturgeon as our first Minister. She is an extremely high calibre successor to Alex Salmond, whom I also admire. Your title, "Queen of Scots", however, is misappropriated. Another lady is in actual fact Queen of Scots. The lady who throughout the world is known as Queen Elizabeth II, has another title in Scotland. That title is, Elizabeth, Queen of Scots. She is not a Queen of Scots. She is First Minister of a devolved parliament. She may be Queen to her SNP supporters, but 'SNP' is not synonymous with 'Scotland'. I wouldn't describe myself as a 'fan' of Nicola Sturgeon (or any other politician, to be honest); I tend to vote based on current issues, I think our politics in Scotland are far closer between parties than what seem like forever diametrically opposed positions between the US parties. I do think the remaining 2 party system there is largely responsible for that, where our politicians are somewhat forced to collaborate, negotiate, and compromise more. Scottish devolution happened just before I was old enough to vote, so in my sort of 'paying attention to politics 18+ life', I have watched the SNP become a stronger, less extreme party (to a degree - at one point they were a fringe nationalist party, and not much more). I have watched our current FM become more 'polished', in a way and she has gone from being a politician I did not agree with on almost everything to someone I respect in her role. That has gone with a rather extreme and fast change in UK & Scottish politics over the past few years. I don't agree with all her policies (I doubt that ever happens with any politician! ) but I think she represents Scotland well. On a global stage, speaking in the country termed 'leader of the free world', but still having a female candidate was a 'breakthrough'; she does speak for women, & young women especially, globally, as much as anyone can - she has worked hard and she has achieved a lot, in that respect. I think she is more muted (politically) than when commenting on home politics - where she does have deep rooted passionate views about independence, which is such a complex issue here. But I think pointing out we have 3 female political leaders (& actually our 4th party, the Scottish Greens has 1 female, 1 male leader) is a credit to our little piece of the Earth. I think in this interview, representing Scotland, and women leaders, she was a credit to our country - regardless of 'local' political opinions. (But no, she is not 'Queen of Scotland - and she would not claim to be either. That is a very complicated history, and even although I realize it was used culturally / colloquially - e.g. 'queen of pop music' - it has very different undertones across the UK.) I do wish it had been pointed out that the ridiculous 'legs-it' article was written by a female journalist. For me, almost a bigger talking point. Additionally, the Scottish version of the paper ran with a different headline. Just FYI for international viewers - I personally found that very interesting. (However, I also agree with her not giving the Daily Mail a global platform.)

As for currency they intend to float a scottish pound but they need a central bank for that so no problem she is just going to invent one it will cost the scots 50 Million a year that they don't have and that's the estimate t we all know of course the real figure will be twice plus of that. What are you talking about? Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of Scotland because Scotland is part of the UK. It's quite simple really. Also, I doubt very much that the majority of Scots would refer to Nicola as their Queen of Scots, so it doesn't matter if it was a play on words. It doesn't work.

Dennis Mathieson 47% of the Scottish electorate voted SNP in the Scottish general election. 36% of the British electorate voted Conservative in the British general election. The SNP are two seats off a majority, and the torys have a majority of twelve. Do you think the Scottish parliament should adopt the British voting system? I doubt it, you like the unlevel playing field. An unlevel playing field that only exists because a Scottish general election is more democratic than a British general election.
