Grimes was traded because he was beaten out by Divencenzo, and it was unlikely that he would sign an extension to be a backup, once his rookie deal expires. He is still looking to be a starter, and to be paid like a starter.

He definitely lost his spot to Donte. I think that's part of the story. Grimes wants to be a starter, but truth be told, they still had time to trade him before his rookie scale deal is up. One of the main reasons he was traded for Burks and Bojan was to feel a drastic need for bench scoring. This move was a major key for us if we want to go deep in the playoffs.

Why do you think Dejounte Murray wasnt traded and why didnt the Knicks trade for him? The rumor was Grimes and 2 1st round picks was the asking price and our offer was Grimes and 1 1st Why wouldnt we offer another 1st? Our picks are all going to be late. The Dallas pick and Milwakee pick will be late and the Pistons and Wizards pick is protected until 2026/2027 when they become 2nds DiVincenzo, Achiuwa, Sims, McBride and 2 1st rd picks for Murray would have put us over the top

You're right about the asking price, but eventually, they had a change of heart. The reason why Murray wasn't traded was that the assistant GM convinced the front office to hold onto Murray. They now believe that Murray and Tre can work well together with time.

You're entitled to your opinion. However, my perspective of a mistake in this case is making the lesser choice when considering the other option. A great example is Leon Rose's worst mistake, which was drafting Obi when he could have drafted Haliburton. I agree with Walker and Fournier to an extent because they were the only free agents who wanted to be in New York. The other four scenarios are not mistakes because Portis didn't want to resign; he wanted to go with the Bucks because they were the better team. Derrick Rose helped the Knicks excel. He was the impactful sixth man who started for them in the playoffs. How does that not warrant the extension? Now, were they the best moves? No, but there weren't any better alternatives. the same thing can be said for Noel.

@@TheObjectiveKnicksFan Sometimes doing nothing is the best move. I typically dont kill GMs for draft picks unless is absolutely obvious

We did draft quickly in the first round with our second first round pick so therefore we received a power forward and a point guard in that draft which helped us move forward quickly and Toppin

Sounds good, but that is not true. The reason why the kids are gone is due to the fact that the Knicks feel they are contenders. This is a strategy that some championship teams use to bring in players they find that can help them win now instead of later.

@@TheObjectiveKnicksFan I'd buy that logic if the trades they made got us to being being legit contenders. I dont think they did. I hated the OG deal. Nice player, but we gave up far too much for a glorified 3 and D role player albeit an elite defender. Not to mention he damaged goods and Toronto knew it. I admit I liked the Grimes deal in theory but prob would rather just roll with our own. Personally I think we dont even make it as far as last year even if healthy. Time will tell and obviously hope I am wrong. But I just dont see it with this new group

@@wheelz114 what makes you say OG is damaged goods? Is it because they removed his bone spurs? Do you understand what the procedures entail? What qualifies a player as damaged? OG had the best plus-minus in NBA history, and the Knicks were on a tear! The second trade addressed any needs the first trade left unmet. We now have the perfect balance of offense and defense.

To be honest, family, I don't even know what's going on with the Pistons. All I knew was that he had to go. Bojan is going to put in that work off the bench in the playoffs, something Grimes hasn't done.
