this is such a good format man, not to say that the other 2 were bad but i wish they were in this format too, its genuinely really helpful, maybe you should remake them? idk
I've always confidently stated that Recovery is one of the best mutations in the game in 5 BC and I still stand by that. I've never regretted taking it in a run.
Recovery’s good for recooperating lost health, but I personally think armadillopack is the best mutation in general for being a solid answer for particularly nasty mobs like rampagers and inquisitors and in key biomes like toxic sewers. Plus an off color ramparts shield can give you an insane amount of defense against melee attacks in Boss fights.
generally, i dont believe there is a "one of the best" mutation since most of them out class each other when it come to the right build. if it come to recovery (the concept, not the mutation) i think gastronomy outclass recovery in higher BCS, while in lower BCS recovery its better.
Not super great on its own, but combined with something like Necromancy and No Mercy, I find that it's brings an entire build together and is incredibly consistent. Like you, I've never regretted picking it up. Usually my last mutation, but I don't have to put much thought into it, I know that I'm always getting value from it.
I thought they were gonna take wish going into caverns, because the legendary gold digger increases crit damage based on your money and caverns sells high level weapons iirc.
Very good video! i like this format as it shows more real situation gameplay, it is less visible what build you did, maybe a small recap at the end. I used the full build pictures while in game just to check. And for the question at 41:40 ; You were at 3911hp (73%), down to theoretical 3125 (since marked 786 damage), but shown 3783hp, then 3813hp and finally 3899hp (we see +30, +30, +26). So from 3911hp (73%) to 3899hp (73%), net change of -12hp. And yes, I watched these 3 seconds multiple times, frame by frame. Thanks for the video! (and sorry for the writing error)
Damn the new format is kinda sick! Good video! As for one of my builds, call me crazy but wrecking ball with yeetables , ice armor and a stunning turret like scavenged bombard is genualy busted. For mutations it doesnt rly matter. I ussually take reccovery, berserker and acrobatipack with medusas head in the bag.
Speaking of, the symmetrical lance actually can hit the giant! the second and third hits of the combo keep you aloft long enough to land them. In my first and so far only 3bsc run, I killed the giant using this exact strategy.
I just recently got into dead cells and after watching a few of your videos I beat 0bc and 1bc back to back. Ive hit a block at 2bc but I’ve made to the hand and sadly died. Thanks for the videos they’ve really helped me progress in the game!
Just spent about 40 minutes on the 1st boss cell with a custom Alucard build and got up to 25 in brutality, absolutely shredding through everything in 1 hit, killed Medusa in about 3 seconds and then I accidentally get caught up in dracula's bat move twice. I have no flasks for phase 2 and I get him to low health, only to be killed by a stray rock falling through the air. That was the closest I've gotten to beating it on hard mode. I know that sounds pretty bad but I'm just trying to get something to work.
His bats are total bullshit. Had a similar experience in 4bc, it was my first time fighting him but I was super strong, deleted his phase 1 in a minute. Then I got stunlocked by the bats in phase 2 and lost in 0.3 seconds.
I don't know why but my bat runs tend to go a little differently, they just devolve into knife spam with occasional bat because for some reason my Throwables deal enough damage to kill almost everything in a single hit. I'm telling you, with a legendary throwable objects or one with the 'pierces all enemies' affix, I could do a knife only run, only bringing out an actual weapon for bosses lol.
The first (and so far only) time I beat the Queen, I had just come from a really messy servants fight. All my health flasks were gone, and my health was so low I probably couldn’t survive even a single hit. In the passage I was desperately looking through the mutations for anything that could help me. Suddenly I remembered the gold plating mutation, and even though it hadn’t worked very well for me in the past, I had nothing to lose so I decided to take it. The fight against the queen went super well, even though it was only my second time facing her in a normal run (I practiced against her a couple times in boss rush mode). I didn’t know how the free heal worked an I didn’t end up getting it, but it didn’t matter. I only took a couple hits which would have killed me, but thanks to gold plating I was able to stay alive and bring down the Queen to win the run.
Ngl I was thinking how the heck is this pick axe going to be the best. When it all came together I was like woaahhhhh. I haven’t done this run yet but I legit got to 5 bc thanks to you
punishment shield and armadillopack in prison quarters has saved me so many time from Hammers--each bomb you roll thru procs the aoe on punishment and kills any flies it released
My personal favorite survival build is heavy crossbow. On high level, with regular amount of scrolls it just one-shots any mob. Like literally anythin. And for elites/bug groupes I take stun grenade. Literally feels so good. This is how I beat 3 and 4 bc for the first time (and then get the 5th cell).
I don't have gold plating, so during your 3rd build I was thinking "man, wouldn't it be cool if the gold digger did more damage proportional to your gold," but what you dropped on us was way better!
I mostly pick rithm n bouzouki for every run, and i do since some time ago, and its really fun, tho i had some bad times with servants it does pretty good with how much damage it can deal
Serviceable survival build: any weapon with decent speed (baseball bat is best, giantkiller and seismic blade are usable, maybe a legendary flint if lucky) + heart of ice + wolf trap spam Wolf trap should have toxic cloud, if it also has 80% on poison you can rely on it to go through biomes even with a weak weapon like giant killer roll for 80% poison on main weapon, take a strong skill that has a long cooltime like a giant whistle or powerful grenade, spam it with wolf trap and even the collector becomes too easy
In my opinion if you can run Giantkiller and Spite shield with Death orb and multi bomb it goes crazy. Then again I’m crazy with the parries so the shield does mad damage
I had my first 5BC win recently and I used survival, because I'm bad 😂 I used heavy crossbow with ice armor and powerful grenade. Mutations: necromancy + soldiers resistance basically makes you unkillable in biomes. Kill rhythm makes it nice and smooth to reload after every shoot. Make sure heavy crossbow has piercing. For bosses where I felt I need it, I swapped necromancy for disengagement. I also started a new save file with only stuff I like 🙈 yes I'm that bad 😂
I’m new to dead cells , now I’m 90 hours in I get it. But 20 hours in I got lucky and did flawless death and had no idea what that was . I walked in with scissors 20k brut build. Love this game ..I’m still at bc3… stuck
I don't think on the survival guide, the mutation of close range ranged attack applies to this weapon... its a melee weapon, that would work on bows and stuff like that.
IDK if you know this, but giants eye can be stunned, allowing baseball bat crits Still sucks on the hands, but just thought that could be slightly clearer for players who didn't know
So its not me missing something its indeed Nutcraker+Shield is a tedious way to play? I was thinking about trying something like Nutcraker+Ice Bow+Shield in the backpack... Also, is there any way to make a decent built with Oven Axe or Broadsword or Tick Claws? Basically, any BIG and SLOW weapon?
Tick Claws are good with kill rhythm and some brain usage to do one after the other broad sword dual bind with ice shards and oven axe can almost work as an unkillable build with enough brain power
Always start tick claws combo with the second claw. It has better range and can one shot many enemies even wihout critting. Go recovery and kill rhythm and cancel your swing with a roll immediately If the enemy has started attacking, its always gonna be faster then you.
In last build you had so much money that you could just change your mutations for draculas castle and save even more which makes this build even more broken.
Seen you using the option to revive. How do you get the option to “return to the last checkpoint/retry” I’m on 5BC, haven’t beat it yet. Does it unlock after finishing the game?
Dead Cells is my first Roguelike. I am average when it comes to metroidvanias. What's the most beginner friendly type? Brutality, Tactics, or Survival?
Survival for health. If you are new, then these guides aren't relevant. He's using mutations not available in your game, weapons you don't have plus he's at 5BC (has beaten the final boss 5 times and gotten a boss cell that he's added to the game to change it up)
Hey thanks for your Video! I'm rather new to dead cells so I wonder, how did you get 29 survival in your first build? Most of the time when I go for one type I just get 18 at max until I reach the end. And I explore all of the maps. I played at 0BC couse I'm bad
As the other guy mentioned, you can get a lot more scrolls in the higher bcs. But if you are struggling to get levels, keep an eye out for challenge rifts and cursed chests. Takung those give you an extra scroll and some juicy loot.
I'm surprised how little you're parrying. You could be playing survival so much better if you parried between attack combos and instead of dodging. Attack 1 > parry > Attack 2 > parry etc. If you're not abusing parries or armadillo genuinely just play brutality at that point
To use a shield in your back pack you need to take a mutation called Armadillopack. You have a 1.7% chance to get it's blueprint every time you kill a thornie, the dudes with the spiky back and the glowing claws. I suggest taking the hunters grenade to the Ossuary if you want to obtain this mutation quickly. Hope this helps!
the last build actually sucks REALLY hard cuz u cant get to the last phase if u dont have insane skill at the game which 90% of ppl dont. so it goes against the "not much skill required" u mentioned
