Back in the 90’s (yes I’m old) my kids wanted to bungee jump at a fair. We stood at watching as one lady jumped and pissed everywhere. And since she was bouncing, the piss was flying! I wasn’t going to let my girls do it anyway but them watching made the decision. They both said “Hell NO!”😂
@@hamburgerdog25 5 Mississippi's for that fall. 122 Meters or 400 feet. ya I'll jump out of a perfectly good airplane and have but that drop, oh hell no.
I hope these people realize that while you are technically 'safe' based on the trajectory of the fall, they still run the risk of the customer suffering a heart attack on the way down since they're not giving a countdown/prep time or anything.
I imagine they don't let people with heart conditions do this, and the odds of a young healthy person having a heart attack from being scared/surprised are astronomically low They also likely have them sign a waiver
@@bryanlinsmeyer3521lots of young people have heart conditions. Young people are also more likely to not know that they have those heart conditions. Shit like that happens a lot.
Theres videos of carnies who do this on their rides, or water slides whatever. The people that die are on rides that shouldnt pass inspection but do anyway
Yea, I don’t trust anyone who trusts like that. Over 500 foot fall with just that dinky little net, they don’t value their life much to willingly do that.
@@someperson7 Ironically, I did that, it's about 120-150 feet (or 40-50 meters). That's until the moment of net contact though, the net isn't "on" the ground. I'd guess the ground is like 150-180 feet away. This is all based on counting mississippi's though. Admittedly, it "looks" like more around 100 yards (300ft) to the ground, but things look weirder at unusual angles. But I agree with the sentiment. That's an unhealthy level of trust there.
this type of attraction is in a papa meat vid on deadly theme park rides there's an instance where a young woman was dropped from a ride like this but the ride operator wasn't paying attention and raised the net too late resulting in her hitting the ground in front of her parents she is extremely lucky to be alive as she broke a shit tonne bones and had to relearn how to walk although her parents did manage to sue the park
I'd rather swim with sharks naked while wearing a bloody prime rib tied on my waist. At least I would have a fighting chance in escaping serious damage. NO ONE escapes Gravity!
That's probably a 200ft drop. That net is probably 50 or 60 feet one each side.... but 3.5 seconds is a long time to think about how the chick at the top pulled the latch while you were still swinging around.
I got just a hair under 3 seconds (until net contact), but granted I was counting mississippi's :P I was thinking 120-150 feet to the net. I could believe close to 200 to the ground though.
There was a terrible accident with one of these free fall rides. The operator dropped a teen girl before the net was fully lifted, and she hit the ground (thankfully she survived but it took a LOT of therapy to get her brain and body working again). It turns out, the damn thing was designed with no electronic or mechanical interlocks that would prevent an early drop. It was purely dependent on hand signals. The net lift mechanism was clunky and occasionally stalled, and the guy thought it was at the top of its travel. He had done the drop so many times that he got overconfident and complacent and did what humans inevitably do and erred. It should not have been physically possible for him to release it early. He was charged, but the idiots who designed the death trap were not. If you ever go on a ride like this, ask what types of safety interlocks it has to prevent early release before getting on. If it’s just “we check before we release it” that’s not good enough. Humans make mistakes.
Something that I learned about myself, since I am biracial and I have YT Genes, which I verified on 23&me. One day, I received a genetic report that stated that I had genes that made me more likely to enjoy risk taking like sky diving and thrill seeking, then I got another one that said that my genes made me less likely to have a fear of public speaking; which is the thing people fear the most. My senses become so heightened and my instinctual reaction time matches whatever is in front of me. And it's true, I have done some crazy things like hiking & mountain biking alone on dangerous mountain trails and I enjoy public speaking. It doesn't matter the size of the crowd, once I'm up there for about 5min, a calm just comes over me! I'm actually more interested in hang gliding than sky diving though, seems much safer way to get the same thrill. It's interesting how the genes that I assume I got from my YT side that makes me so prone to be fearless at reckless, risk taking is also closely related to being fearless at public speaking.
Actually no it is doing what it's supposed to be if that net was taught she would still die. Fall deaths are when squishy human meets not squishy ground and then collapsing into mush. The give is there to slow the velocity she is going which is the primary cause of fall damage.
I remember something like that years ago in which a teen girl wound up going splat when the net failed. I think it was in Pigeon Forge, TN. It's no longer a thing for a reason.
My dumb ass would forget to curl up like Samus and end up getting my arms and legs ripped off as they bashed into metal sides... This is the kind of trust scripture be talking about
Where are they finding all these crazy adrenaline rush sites? Zipline over a canyon, rope swing, rope free fall, free fall without the rope, who, where and why?
I like testing my limits also but I have to be in control. I do have close to 300 stitches, a bunch of staples, and numerous broken bones to prove I seriously tested.
One of the fun parts of extreme sports is trusting physics & experience.. or you die. If you know how to gamble you're always okay, and it's so fun. I miss not having it destroyed spine that I can't do this stuff anymore. I miss it so much though. Lol.
She was like, “Can I go home?” And the operator was like, “Sure, here let’s get you there quickly!” That operator would catch a knuckle to the jaw if they did that to me, out of fear and panic if nothing else.
I have lived my life as if I were dying. I love the thrill of doing dangerous things. Maybe that's why I have 2 titanium knees. Pins in both ankles. Scars etc. Lol. The lord keeps me going.
