TNT typically has an equivalent pressure of 4000 PSI if that's any indication. Hopefully the tank has a blowout valve and is actually rated for more than 3000 PSI.

no need to buy a meter, i'd say just download an app, just searched for one and a whole bunch popped up

plustwominutes they are nowhere near accurate. A phone mic can't handle a gunshot or even an air rifle shot accurately or even at all, as they are designed to primarily only pick up human vocal ranges.

@rpx1979 yeah, those Db reader apps are of little use. They don't take into account the fact that different devices have different mics. Mine said my modded Nerf gun came in at 130 odd Db... I mean, If you've had better luck, more power too you, but I have little faith in them.

No one believes me but I have personally witnessed a .silenced 22 that was more or less completely silent. The only sound that could be heard was the action from the gun itself. It was actually possible to hear the bullet whiz through the air like a round from a slingshot or something. Eerie. Of course not as much power as the air gun in the video. Especially since the rounds have to be subsonic.

Cooky Comps you don't have a adequate technical understanding of how decibel meters work then. The cheap versions have a relatively long rise time. They simply don't have the circuitry to detect that very brief high amplitude sound. Yes you're getting an answer from your decimal meter but that is not the actual volume. Do some further research I think you'd be surprised.

I think you are missing the point. It doesn't matter if a decibel meter reads 90 or 10, what he's looking for is a consistent way to show the difference between the sounds of several firearms. When I've fired several guns, the sound meter showed different values for different guns.
