I wish the Universal Tarot deck would come out with a borderless version. Changing the background colour may not be good thing IMO as it has its special meaning
Thank you so much for the video, I have enjoyed it throughly and I love both decks…. I reviewed both of this decks on my channel as well. I have subscribed to your channel so I can watch more often. 😊
Radiant Wise Spirit must be the one I would prefer of these two. It`s so hard to choose RWS decks, and having people like you making videos like this makes it way more easy to pick a deck. ❤Thank you for yet another beautiful video. ❤
I prefer the Radiant Wise. I'm more of a spin-off Waite-Smith deck fan. The Radiant Wise seems more interesting than the other! Thanks for a great comparison review! 🌟🌟🌟
I agree, the Radiant Wise is visually more appealing. I love the antique look to the cards. Am looking to purchase a beginner deck and keep getting drawn to this deck. It definitely has that 3D look to it. But the borderless also draws me in because it looks more traditional. I like them both, lol. Which would you recommend for a beginner to learn from? I was gifted the 'Radiant Rider-Waite' deck but don't connect it. Thank you for doing such a thorough comparison of both decks. Your voice is so soothing. This was both informative and relaxing. 💖🧚🏻♀️
From these 2, I would recommend the Borderless deck. Easier to shuffle, lighter and with the classic Rider Waite drawings. I like to spend some time with each deck. I believe the connection is created when you start using a deck more. However, you do need a bit of a spark when you first take a look at it. If it's not there, carry on! For more tarot info I recommend John Ballantrae's RU-vid channel and Amazon books. I love his work and I believe he is truly wise and inspiring. Sorry for the delay of my answer. Best wishes!
I know this is an old post, but if you like the Radiant Wise, there is a mini deck with borders, which is a mini version of what is called the "Dirty Pam". It's now OOP but the mini deck is awesome. To learn, however, I would go with neither of these. I would go with the Cenntenial RWS full sized deck with a border. The problem with these two borderless decks is that they stretched the image to fill in the border so the images are not quite right. The Centennial deck with borders is absolutely beautiful and a great deck to learn on, also with that better, more mat cardstock. The Mini Radiant Wise also has a better, less glossy card stock and is a great deck to carry around. The colors are so beautiful. Be aware, however, that the Radiant Wise Tarot is a Pam B while the Centennial is a Pam A.
Thank you for this close comparison. I notice that the Radiant Wise Spirit magnifies the central details of each card, cropping out the edges. For instance, paired columns or towers are all the way to either side, without any landscape beyond them. That emphasis, along with the rich coloring, is part of what makes the deck more vivid. Seeing this when the full landscapes are already familiar to me, I appreciate the detail. But as a first or only Rider-Waite-Smith deck, might it lose some sense of space that is essential to the imagery?
Definitely. I couldn't agree more. Some sense of space is lost. When first learning the tarot, I would definitely recommend using the original version of the Rider-Waite, in order to see and understand the cards as they were intended. However, for a more experienced user versions of it work as well, if the meaning has been understood and the reader is familiar with the cards.
Although both decks are borderless, you lose some of the picture with The Radiant Wise Spirit. Not sure why they did that but I love everything else about them.
Me too. Losing some of the picture is quite bad & the glossy finish of the cards is what really annoys me sometimes. The rest is amazing (especially the 3D feeling of the Radiant). Cheers!
Hi! I see this video is from a year ago. I want to buy the White-Smith Borderless, and would like your advice. After some time of use, did the edges get damaged? Are the cards of good quality?
Hello. The cards are very good quality and have kept their shape and properties. No damaged edges whatsoever. Of course, I try to take very good care of my cards and I don't riffle shuffle. I hope it helped.
I wanted to see how they shuffle. I hate the matte Borderless from US GAMES. The cards r extremely thick and hard. They are way too big and dont fit my hand.
