Wait, I'm only 6 minutes in but as I understand it, Hamas did not accept the deal that Israel was agreeing to... Israel agreed to ceasefire A, then some nearby countries proposed ceasefire B, to which Hamas agreed. AFAIK neither side has agreed to the same ceasefire.

Israel is pulling the same shit Austria-Hungary did in the lead up to WW1, and Hamas is following Serbia's game plan. Israel issued a series of demands that they knew would be completely unacceptable, Hamas agreed to 90-95% of all demands, and so Israel invades anyway. Whole thing has the same issue too. Israel took too long try this gambit, it might have worked in December of 2023, but they are 6 months past the attack that precipitated the conflict.

A lot of times terms are not necessarily negotiated with both sides in the room but, especially in this case where Israel has the upper hand by an infinite amount militarily the onus kind of falls to Hamas to accept a deal that is acceptable to Israel, otherwise there’s no reason for them to stop… so my guess would be Egypt and Qatar are trying to get Hamas to agree to ever more concessions and then running it by Israel every time there’s a new concession but who knows. Could be more Israel fuckery as you say, but Israel has no incentive right now to ceasefire, the only downside for Israel right now is public perception and I’m still willing to bet that given that these protests have still been fairly small in the US given what we’ve seen in other protests they’re still believing that despite the online rhetoric being strongly against them that it’s still close to 50/50 or even more in their favor right now… so unless all of their demands are met I don’t see this ending anytime soon unless their own casualties started to spike like exponentially or something that turned a strong majority of their own people against it.

Slight correction: Hamas didn’t accept the deal Israel previously agreed to. They accepted a deal they made up unilaterally. Specifically in Hamas’s version the 33 hostages includes corpses. Israel wants live hostages.
