Advocacy in Action: Founding "Holly's House" illustrates how Holly transformed her tragedy into a beacon of hope, providing support and safety for other survivors
@@usmcgrunt02 Agreed but I wonder if they have a way before uploading it to YT to tone it down but not the people talking. The music can't have been too loud and all for coming over one's TV when it was first aired if it was the vast amount of complaints would have been a wake up call.
wow, this one is hitting so hard - perhaps it's the way she is so matter-of-factly talking about the horrific things that happened to her and her friend. what an unbelievably strong person.
I’ve heard this story told before, but never from the pov of this brave woman. Thank you for sharing her words and showing the world what strength of character looks like.
I went through a violent assault and attempted rape when I was abroad. I was only 18 and there were times it was hard to move forward. Holly is so strong for telling her story and advocating for other victims. She is truly inspiring
You’re strong! 💪 So strong, to be able to talk about it and to keep going each day. 👏❣️ I’m so sorry that happened to you... Being abroad, and so young, I just want to hug you. 🫂🧡
Holly is a brave and strong young woman for speaking out about her assault. She's also incredibly smart for being so observant and aware enough during the attack and shock to remember details about her attacker.
I live in Louisville, ky, I still remember this clear as day. I had just turned 14 in my and had a major back sugary in June. I had to sleep in the living room for three weeks. My mother was so scared due to having railroad tracks not far from the house. People said they saw him in Louisville in so many places. this was truly horrifying for so many.
What a strong beautiful soul and the fact that she had the chance to run but didn't want to leave her friend despite the fact that she knew she might die there breaks my heart
The music is too loud and also just a really annoying and awful choice. Will never understand why people like to hear singers sing “ah ah ah ahhhh” over and over again
I think for most people- this traumatic event would break a person… Holly is an inspiration to any victim who has gone through something like this and doesn’t let it completely define their life. She lets her strength and resilience define her- you go Holly.
I haven't even finished the video (I'm at the 15-minute point) and already I'm so deeply impressed with the woman who was attacked. She showed remarkable presence of mind when faced with possible death (such as sticking her tongue out so a gag wouldn't fit tightly, wanting to leave blood at the scene to aid forensics, taking mental notes about the characteristics of her attacker). Then, she was able to describe what happened to her so calmly and in such detail. What a strong person!
I was like omg couldn’t the 2 of them try to untie themselves faster? And why allow the monster to tie both of them up? 2 ppl could have easily overpowered him. 2 of them could have fought hard before being immobilized.. Then I realised he had a weapon and they couldn’t do much.. He is a very determined killer. It must be really terrifying for them. I feel so sorry for Chris..
I am so glad you survived, Holly. It is amazing that Holly's House is a tribute to a living survivor, not one who is being remembered after not surviving. May God give you peace for the rest of your life.
I am so glad this episode was about the victims and Holly as a survivor. Thank you. The killer is so small and despicable. Strength, kindness and tenacity won. Wonderful all around.
saw this on FBI Files years back. The killer actually unwrapped Christmas presents at a victim’s home and played with a toy train set. He also helped himself to food in his victim’s fridge after doing his bad deeds.
I lived in Evansville for 20+ years and I got to know Heather really well and her & Holly's father, John as well. John is a very successful businessman who owns hotels. Unfortunately Heather passed away in 2019 in a car crash after losing control of her vehicle on a highway in Southern Indiana. She was a truly beautiful woman inside and out. Holly is an amazing courageous fighter. Holly and Heather were very close.
Yeah I was thinking the same. They should have fought hard before they were tied up. Because chances of survival dropped dramatically once tied up. I guess they didn’t know how depraved he was. Also, he had a weapon (ice pick or screwdriver as mentioned in the show), so he most definitely tied Chris up first then tie Holly up.
If you have never been in this situation, count yourself lucky. I can see how people go into shock and don’t fight back. If you haven’t walked in their shoes, don’t judge.
@@RevLeigh55Absolutely! 👏 It’s easy to say “shoulda-woulda-coulda,” and we all know hindsight’s 20/20, but we’re sitting here (safely in our couches) judging their actions in a situation that we weren’t in. They didn’t have the advantage of watching this video, knowing the details after-the-fact, have time to size him up, knowing if he did/didn’t have other weapons, if there was another perpetrator, and how to react in an instant… in the dark, when they stumbled into this dangerous and terrifying scenario, as very young adults/teens, etc. They expect them to have done an instantaneous risk/reward or pro/con list, make a plan together, then act. 🤦🏻♀️ Long way of saying I agree with you. 😆
Glad the monster met his fate in the death chamber not that long after his killings. In some states, these criminals get to live another 20-30 years before their lives are ended. I'm so impressed by Ms. Dunn. What a brave and inspirational woman she is!
I have to add my comments about the background music on this episode. It was extremely distracting and annoying. It made the story feel more like a tv drama rather than a factual account. I hope this is not a sign of the future of 48 Hours. 😔
There's insanity and then there is evil. He was evil. God rest those who he victimized. God bless Holly for not only being a survivor but in the way she turned the evil that she faced into good.
What a beautiful and courageous young woman to have survived the most horrendous attack imaginable and go on to live an inspirational and selfless life giving hope and help to others. It would be so easy for her to hate and be bitter about her ordeal and suffering but instead she lives life with hope and optimism helping others. Bless you and thank you. Your beauty and strength inside and out are outstanding.
It's actually interesting how a high percentage of folk exhibiting the same slack behavior, somehow always morph into a fat old lady. All he needed was a fat cat on his shoulder. That must have always been who they were inside.
I always get super excited whenever 48 Hours uploads a full episode. Always a treat. Thank you for the high-quality original content and your hard work. ❤
I'm 58 now and I will always remember my father who's passed in 2004 from cancer and how he always had this hidden 'fear' of being (him & loved ones) becoming victims of any potential bad guy or boogie man...he had a weapon in every spot of the house and of course the cars..!!..once my best friends and I were on our way to a small camping trip during summertime ,by a large local lake.. (my little sister was there also..we were around 14/ 15 y/o....before we left he came up to me and slid a tiny .22 cal in my backpack side pocket ,looked me in the eyes and said....'take care & have fun , watch over your sister'.....(yes sir).
When the detective described him as the boogie man coming into your house in the middle of the night, chills went down my spine. I might need to get a couple more dogs!
I was so focused on the story that the music wasn’t noticeable. I’m glad that Holly was able to testify and that she is now helping other victims of violence. Of course, she will never fully heal from her ordeal, but she is doing good things that she never would have done, otherwise.
The loud dramatic background music detracts from the survivor telling her story. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put her story to a soundtrack should feel embarrassed about their choice.
I remember seeing this story on the news when I was a kid, when I was about 10 years old. Scared 😱 the crap out of us! We had railroad tracks behind our house in Texas.
I wondered about that too... I guess they were just two naive kids 🤷🏽♀️ they just weren't able to imagine how evil some humans can be... And by the time they realized how much truoble they're in, they were both in ties...
Unfortunately they may have been drinking and therefore their judgement was not quick, plus they had already decided that going to the tracks at night was better than staying at a boring party, pretty dumb...
EVERYBODY TALKING ABT THE BACKGROUND MUSIC AND NOT THE CASE… You guys this is a true story its not a movie! Bravo to the surviving girl and her family! May God bless you! Bravo to the prosecutor and the detectives!
I can't imagine anyone wanting to go hang out in the middle of night in the dark near the train tracks 😵💫There is no telling what kind of Transients are hanging around there. We used to call them hobos. Even as kids we knew not to go around the tracks.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought this 🤣Seriously, this case is incredibly rough, and these women are amazing. Holly's strength is just unbelievable... but I can't focus because this music is so loud and sounds like I'm about to be attacked from the bushes...
Oh wow! I live in Evansville. I know of Hollys house. It’s good to hear the story behind it. I’m so proud of you Holly! We heal from helping others heal!
Can people scroll through comments first and if something is already said a million times not to post about it again. We get it, you dont like the music.
I was so engrossed with the content of video. I did not really pay attention to the music. My condolences to Holly and the other victim's families. I am thankful for Texas and how well they carry the death penalty. The monster's legs were shaking because he was about to stand in judgement for eternity.
