So based on the wear on the nuts I assume it's a spring loaded, circular pocket (hdpe) and a spring loaded steel ball of about 3-5mm in diameter that is engaging the hex portion of the nut horizontally?

Awesome product, I'll get a ER20 one for my small CNC, but I don't see any ER32 option for my larger CNC.

Thank you for the comment and question! We just finished development on the ER25 model and will have that on the web site soon. ER32 is next on the list and I have plans to get some into the hands of a few field testers after the Holidays.

Im new to cnc, and im trying to wrap my head around this. Dose the installation instructions and the macros included in the purchase?? Can you make a video of the unboxing and how to install it on a brand new cnc. As soon as I figure out how it works and how to setup ill buy one

Really cool. However would it not be more cost effective to get a motorized iso20 or bt30 spindle with the pneumatics built in. They can be had for under 1k these days.
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 4 месяца назад
Thank you for the comment and question! the cost for traditional Pneumatic systems doesn't end with the spindle. They require a lot of inputs and outputs as well as compressed air, air dryers, solenoids and are very complex to set up and write macros for.

I have an AVID CNC using a Mach4 controller. How does this system deal with cross threading? Have you had an issue with this on the ER20 collets and driving the spindle into them?
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 7 месяцев назад
Thank you for the comment and question! I do have a video titled "will it cross thread" on the channel that gives a good explanation why it doesn't cross thread. We are finishing up a graphical configuration wizard for UCCNC now. Then we will be tackling Mach4 next.

Coupon code doesn’t work I see your other video that shows at working semi automatically with the sainsmart 4040, I assume it would be the same on the 3030 prover-max? Also I know the 300W spindle on this Saint smart is ER11 but down the road I might want to upgrade the spindle and it can take up to 1.5 kW which uses the ER 16 collet, I see you on the order page you need to specify , I’m just curious if I got the ER 11 version now if in the future I would I need to buy a new one that is ER16 or can the ER 11 when I buy be adapted to be ER16

Thanks for the comment and question. The coupon code doesn't work right now because everything is on sale. Unfortunately there is not way to convert one size to another the pocket spacing is different and the pockets are different sizes. The semi automatic operation should work with it also as it's simple gcode macros.

I can't believe this exist, it almost seems too good to be true. I was wondering for months how to upgrade my CNC to ATC system and how much it will cost, not to mention the scripts, then I googled for ATC script for UCCNC and this was one of the first I found and I at first thought it's just a magazine for ATC spindles and then I was like wait... wtf? this works for my existing ER20 spindle?! I am now seriously considering to purchase this product. My only concern is - how many cycles does it endure? Will it not fall apart after couple hundred tool changes?
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 5 месяцев назад
Thank you for the comment and question!. I ran cycles loading and unloading one day for 6 hrs with just over 1500 cycles with no apparent damage. It is possible that the sockets could wear at some point. If that was the case the sockets can be easily replaced

can I get this to work with a shapeoko?
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 7 месяцев назад
It all depends on the motion controller and whether their software will allow custom macros. UCCNC, Mach3&4, Centroid all have this functionality. I am finding that a lot of companies selling CNCs with their own flavor of control software offer very little customization if any. Also using a trim router as a CNC spindle doesn't work with our system as there is no direction or speed control with g code. It looks like they do offer high speed spindles but out of the box I don't believe it is wired to run CCW from what I have heard.

Completely wrong and outright dangerous for mill, collet, holder or tools.

It's a terrible idea. Get a real tool changer.
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 4 месяца назад
A growing number of people around the world using it would disagree with you on that :) It is a real tool changer because it changes tools LOL. Not to mention you can install it on smaller machines that would not be able to use a pneumatic tool changer. The simplicity, reliability and affordability is changing the game for smaller shops and hobbyists everywhere: Australia: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BspaEjBxyc4.html France: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0DvYD1noB3s.html Arizona USA: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZsCqWb_9dwg.html Just to showcase a few of them.

@@RapidChangeATC There are so many potential problems with this approach, you will never see this type of setup in an actual production environment. Might be okay for hobby cnc's but eventually even those users will have issues. Premature spindle failure will be an expensive issue. Possible cross threading of collet nuts, tool slippage etc... are all issues that will eventually rear their ugly heads. As a professional CNC machinist and programmer, I've seen most every kind of failure imaginable with "normal" tool changers and your version is just not tenable in the long run. Good luck though.
@RapidChangeATC
@RapidChangeATC 4 месяца назад
@@jasonharris8728 Thank you! I have been using it for over a year and a half in my own production. Others are using it it their production. I respect your perspective but in fact it's based on your perception and not first hand experience. People can't wrap their heads around the physics of it. Tool's don't slip. It's a CNC machine.... so it doesn't cross thread, unless your CNC is not repeatable or way out of tram. Think about it for a minute. The main thing is that it fills a gap between wrenches and expensive, complex pneumatic systems. It is a viable alternative. Of the hundreds of people using it no one has asked to return it.
