A minor masterpiece. Love the soundtrack and imagery. The backstory about Mungo Man was also interesting as was the fiery destruction of the chocolate city as a metaphor... Highlander like different timelines, Mad Max post apocalyptic landscapes, music score to rival Pink Floyd. In fact it was a little reminiscent of Pink Floyd's The Wall movie but with more story and dialogue.
Terrence Malick meets George Miller. A think piece. The soundtrack and imagery are a real treat. Loved the ambiguous ending Ala Fight Club or The Sixth Sense. It appears the female warrior was just an imaginary extension of the girl next door as is the destruction of the earth. Prophetic, hypnotic. From the maker of Freedom Deep which was later ripped off by The Book of Eli.
“Stevenson is a cinematic visionary. The score, and the cinematography, are exceptional”. - Andrew Urban (urbancinefile) “Quite a stunning little film. There are too many questions raised to which the answers are somewhat scary. You will need to see it more than once” - Peter Castaldi (screening jets).
Man goes into the desert to find the origin of man. While he's there the planet dies..... chocolate city shows the fragility of man in the great scheme of things. Yes it's arty and a bit of a thinking piece, but I enjoyed it.
I wish there were more comments before I watched this whole movie. I like to be fair. I guess all we can do is share our opinion. At the time just the one said “ it sucks”
