Cool bit of history and info in this video. Next time though, if there is a next time, put in a quick screenshot of the prices for each item you speak about - it’ll help the viewer understand the rarity of each item. Keep up the good work!
I actually avoid showing prices on purpose. It can make my videos outdated very fast and everyone's only concern being $ $ $ is what ultimately ruins collecting. Price is controlled by demand and does nothing with rarity in the end.
@@WASHED_UP_NPC Interesting. This sounds like the mentality of a true collector. My take comes from the perspective of a casual viewer. I suppose if you make a video for a casual viewing audience then consider my advice.
Rarity and price are two different things, however, rare things do usually demand high prices. I’ve yet to see something rare not have a high price. This video didn’t need price, though, imo.
I have Storm Collectible Kazuya, King and Paul, Figure Arts Tekken 8 Jin (soon I will get Kazuya too), Tekken 7 statue with Kazuya and Heihachi and in a tournament I won a Kotobukiya Christie statue. In my country, Hungary, these are kinda luxury things.
have been collecting tekken stuff the past few years. for tekken 1, there is also a longcase version as well. the black label standard case came out later and is why it is expensive. the greatest hits is the cheapest way to go. (jp versions are/were roughly the same for t1/t2/t3 on ps1.. make sure it has the spine card) bootlegs aside there's a bunch of games with tekken crossovers, like anna kournikova smash court tennis EU exclusive, urban reign, pacman fever, namco x capcom etc.. also jp exclusives like the wonderswan tekken card challenge. i found that alot of the different cover variants for the tekken comics by titan, were really difficult to find. tekken 6 also had alot of random pre-order stuff, some of those metal cards were only sold in one store making it hard to find (the nina one), there were also i think 2 variants of pauls arm sleeve tattoos, with/without color. the second live action tekken movie actually has 2 variants. the 2014 version comes with a lenticular slipcover. the 2016 re-release is just a regular copy. Tekken tag 2 i think has the most variants, some extremely rare. examples, card edition, prestige edition (asia exc. VERY RARE), we are tekken Uk ver., ironfist uk version (which may include the we are tekken version?), ANZ edition.. read somewhere there was a USA limited edition version, have yet to see one though. also just recently, the tekken 8 collectors editions were all different depending on region. USA and the UK were pretty much the same i think except the UK statue does not light up. the JP version comes with alot more stuff including Azucena's brand coffee cups, a Mishima style hand fan and some pins and acrylic stands etc.
I won a poster of King Praying in a church (His level in Tekken 2) in a local Tekken 2 tournament that hung on my wall for years. I lost the poster and now i cant even find a print of it online 😢
Hello tekken fans I found this video (awesome and inciteful video btw) on my front page, ive never been huge into tekken but ive always wanted to get into it but i immediately clicked on it because as of a couple months ago i ran across a rare set of tekken 2 keychains from most likely japan and that might sound not out of the ordinary but i cannot find any information on them at all and dont even know if i own the full set. i have a bunch of them and started selling them and cannot find any official documentation on them, if anyone is interested in helping me figure out this mystery or someone who can then please drop a comment. Genuinley think i came across something lowkey here
@@proyteam they technically are beta versions of the game. Tekken 7 is a weird one cause the game was in arcades for a very long time. To the point you could argue the arcade was not a test version. But that was still the original purpose of arcade versions.
Maybe some day we'll finally get a devil Kazuya figure..... some day. I own almost all of the Storm figures (Heihachi has eluded me still) and the Devil Jin statue, plus other merch that isn't as "rare" I guess my sealed copy of the 3DS game is kinda the rarest thing I have?
I have a Tekken Tag Kazuya Ultimate 12 Inch Figure made by Epoch and Cworks. Kinda looks like a Ken doll but works like a Max Steele figure articulation wise. They gave him his outfit from the opening video which is not usable in the game hahaha
I actually own that Tekken 2 era Heihachi plushie. I got him when I was a kid, and I remember I always wanted Kazuya but never was able to obtain him. I do have the Epoch Tekken Tag 1 Lei, Jun, and Kazuya figures, which are pretty hard to come by nowadays and usually cost quite a bit when they do pop up (especially Kazuya).
Love this video! I used to play a Tekken 5 arcade machine at an arcade I used to go to a lot when I was about 6-8 and I still have a soft spot for the franchise. I begged my dad for it and I got Tekken 6 when I was 8
Man what a nice video. Though I'm not the best at fighting games, I found Tekken to be probably my favorite among everything else. Specially that adventure mode in Tekken 6 it's been by far one of my fav experiences ever in the PS2 era and even on my Xbox... I think I should buy it again and play it now on my PC lol Thanks y saludos desde Mexico
Asim Ali who won the 2012 Tekken tag 2 tournament in uk sold me the 1st place prizes of Yoshimitsu statue and ttt2 signed frame artwork for only £250! I got lots of tekken merch including the Paul plush maybe unless stolen by my neighbour, she also stole my Nina & Anna merch inc statues but bought an Anna statue again the t3 ones I’m talking about also got the ttt2 statues of em plus other characters. Is the variant red n black sails ttt2 statue rare? I think the framed artwork is my rarest tekken merch.
I have a fairly large collection myself, with every US console version of every game aside from the long box for T1, but the jewel case, most arcade versions (missing 4, 6, and tag 2), and several other things - and there were still plenty of things in this I had no clue about. Great video!
@@gloverdragon6854 I have the normal long jewel case for T1. In this video, he shows the more coveted one, which is the one I don't have haha I honestly didn't realize there was that big of a difference between the two until this video
@@aaronharrellmusic I’ve just learned something new. All this time, I thought it was dual case, because of the two parts of the case coming together like a clam shell. 😂. I’ve just googled it, it’s jewel case. 😂
I actually own the Tekken 2 Banpresto Yoshimitsu plush in good condition with the tag. I’ve been trying to find a price for this guy but he’s very rare and I’ve never seen any listings for him since. Got him in a lot for $30 along with the Tekken 2 Jack and Heihachi plush
played a mod version of one of the tekkens..looked like tekken 2 cause i remember a dark street stage. they had a variant of jack . called burning Jack. lol mfs was on fire. and as a kid shit just amazed me for some reason. he's been my main every since😂
I am impressed you made an entire video talking about how rare things are without once mentioning numbers. Isn't how many there are of something a factor in determining its rarity? Also, do you have any sources besides "trust me, bro"?
There is no real factor for determining rarity but technically quantity determines rarity, but the value is 100% based on demand and nothing else. Unfortunately, unlike many other toy series and genres, there is no current database for Tekken merchandise, so documentation, in general, is almost non-existent.
I've bought in Japan a tekken 1 era pack of pencils with characters printed, a taken 3 era trainer (green with jin's tattoo printed on the chest) and also a small plushie o lei (in the purple robe, I believe it's tekken 2 era stuff) and it's got hair (like synthetic hair strands)
du7de there is so much more merch you could have talked about. the handheld game that is a fist you put over your first. Card challenge for the wonder swan. the Namco capsule toys that had charters from Namco games. the cards from UFS and the claw game plush. i know because i have all those things and there are things more rare then those out there
Lot of info here that’s all over the place here but I appreciate the perspective. I actually have an insanely large collection of TEKKEN stuff and have been showing some of it to Harada-san as well (some stuff he forgot about). I think I’ll do a x/Twitter thread for TEKKEN merch and info. There’s so much treasure that hasn’t been highlighted before.
8:00 In Europe there are collectors editions for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which have the Kotobukiya Bishoujo statues bundled in for Alisa, Asuka and Christie (as far as I know) and a dedicated box print inside of the characters art in each edition. They are some of the rarest Tekken stuff I assume.
Last year Bryan's trailer for Tekken 8 got leaked and Harada told everyone that the one who makes the most noise gets a cool Bryan shirt with Harada's signature and I think that shirt is the rarest official merch 😅
