@reillygrimley9542
@reillygrimley9542 3 года назад
Well, there is a spot of good news. Since your first batch of peafowl had white "siblings", and these ones allegedly did as well, that means that all of your peafowl, including these new babies, are potentially heterozygous for the white gene, which is recessive. That means that any future pairings of any of your peafowl has a strong potential to produce white offspring. Genetics are awesome.

We here in India love peacocks cause its our national bird and also larger mention of the bird in our religion. Nothing beats peacock if you can catch a troupe around 4 pm, you can be sure to see a dance performance too. Coincidentally the population at most places is un-sustainably high. They are really killing the farmers. Enforcement against any harm to peacock is very very strong since the national bird. I sometimes think we must change our national bird every 5 years so that other vulnerable birds get protection and recover.

In Peafowl the White mutation is dominant so only needs one copy to be expressed. However you can have single factor white and double factor white. So if these chicks grow to have white patches on their flight feathers they are single factor white. So one parents must have been a white, the other being a normal / something else. If both parents were white or are both sf white then you could produce double factor whites which is the pure white colouration. So hopefully these 2 chicks are sf whites in which case you could breed them together to produce you double factor whites, single factor whites and normals/ black shouldered
@KedreevaWhitemane
@KedreevaWhitemane 3 года назад
That is just not true.... white is a gene for total leucism and is a separate gene from pied. A bird with one white and one pied gene would turn out pied but you would not get pied from breeding a white to a white, or a white to a blue. You need one copy of white and one copy of pied to express the pied phenotype. White is also not dominant, it's recessive but bears the visual marker of white flights and a white throat latch, a marker it shares with split pied and dark pied birds.

I have to agree with the genetic portion. Although one or both of the parents were white (we dont know if its even true), but looks like they lost the luck of the draw. I breed peafowl, and have done for over a decade, and I'm big into their genetics. White is a recessive gene for total leucism. If both parents are white, then all of their children absolutely would also display the white phenotype. They don't "carry" brown; the brown is the wild type phenotype, so it displays if the offspring don't have a matching pair of mutations; but a pair of white birds would ALWAYS donate the white gene from both sides and so the chicks would always be white. It was definitely a scam.

@KedreevaWhitemane

There has been no documented albino peafowl yet.... white is a leucistic mutation in peafowl, and ONLY a leucistic mutation. If you breed two whites, you will 100% get whites. The only way you would get pied is if you're breeding pied together (which would produce 25% white, 50% pied, and 25% "dark" pied which is a bird with 2 copies of pied), or breeding white to dark pied, since the pied phenotype is a bird het for white and het for pied together.

But anytime a stranger walked on the property, these birds would be in the trees and alarm the Bell. It was hilarious, it was just like the dinner bell. I’m so glad you got Narragansett turkeys. Definitely one of the prettiest breeds but you have to be careful. Due to almost going extinct in the ‘90s the Narragansett had only 9 breeding pairs left (some statistics state more or less but this is most common I find) with only 9 breeding pairs you can understand that the genetic pool is very small. Since they have poorer genetics. The Narragansett, Royal palm. And other rarer breeds of turkeys suffer from aggression. You will know if you have a naturally aggressive bird by about 7 months old. You can spend every day playing, bonding with ect. But a aggressive bird will always turn. About 60% or better of the Narragansett toms I have ever raised have turned out aggressive. To this day I haven’t found out how to stop the aggression

We have them running rampant for years at our zoo. They even leave the zoo, walk right out, but return each day. I could talk the zoo into getting some fresh eggs! Years ago, they even gave me a few, but I think they weren't fresh enough to incubate. That, and I had no idea how to do it. lol. But, I can't ask them. The next time I go there, I'll take a pic of them and email them to you. I'm in Roswell, New Mexico. I wonder if those peafowl will at least carry white. If 2 recessive genes are together, you'll get that trait.

Be careful about paying and not receiving the stuff past the date they allow a refund. Ppl will use more reliable companies like PayPal that make ppl feel safe to send money but then wait past the refund date to send out stuff so that u can't correct anything... so please b careful out there about the timing.

Those are pied peafowl! A visually pied peafowl has one copy of the white gene and one copy of the pied gene. A bird with 2 copies of pied is referred to as a dark pied, and 2 copies of white is, obviously, a white.

I incubate quail. Putting in drawer liner on the hatching tray helped, I also make a hobble with vet wrap (self adhesive). It’s another great option. (Make sure you get the animal kind, human is 2-3x the cost and the exact same thing). Curled toes I put tiny piece of thin cardboard, like a cereal box, then put painted a tape on bottom and top so it looks like a boot. I have been able to fix every case of both things this way.

We had flight cages when our kids were young. We had a Java green peacock. Silver, Red Golden, and Impean pheasants. The Impean are beautiful. We also had Mandarin and Wood ducks. We had an incubator and hatched lots of eggs. The Quails were awesome. They looked like bees with tiny legs, very small, but they ran really fast!! Lots of pets inside as well. Snakes, lizards, red eyed tree frogs (my favs), salt and fresh water aquariums, hedgehog and flying squirrel. We were known as the local Zoo.

Surely we would have loved white peacocks; they are so amazing! But, all peacocks are beautiful and fun to watch. It kind of bites because if the money and your disappointment after all that work. We the viewers didn't have to wait for weeks anticipating white peafowl. I love how you wait for the hatch to put out the video.

Ohhhh those little guys need some calcium and niacin. I find squishing up some mealworms and peas and letting them go to town helps out with splay immensely. Had a bit of a sad hatch myself last week. Ironically two of my duckling turned out to be albino, but they didn't make to hatch. Another two were deformed, they actually made it to hatch but died shortly thereafter. I have three little ladies now though, so I'm just gonna dote on them. Other than that, I don't know if I'd say this was a scam so much as a gamble. It looks like they'll be buff pied (a mottled coloring) so THEY might go on the create white chicks together because, well, inbreeding...BUT, I do hope you better luck in the future in getting white pea-fowl on the farm.

They’ve lived there so long they have a good relationship with people. A friend of mine tamed a male over spring break one year. He would follow her around the neighborhood.

But just seeing those eggs cracking open and watching those birds comes forth is so amazing. I love peacocks they are so beautiful I hate you got scammed on eBay I don’t use eBay at all due to so much of that stuff going on anymore. When eBay first started it was amazing but I just think it has gotten so big and commercialized that they can’t monitor it as close as they use to. But love your videos and can’t wait to see what you and your family is got for us coming up next.

There were always be bad sellers when it comes to hatching eggs. The only way to combat it is to write reviews about what they sold and get refunded to stop them from continuing.
