so fine. what talent. what great vocals. what joy. and what a time it was. (let's pray') thank you Lord that i lived thru this amazing, beautiful, creative time of joyous music. very cool stage performance with creative updates. felix is truly a genius.
The Rascals knocked me out in '66 and they still knock me out. I have had the honor to meet Felix a few times around Nashville. So glad to see him out there working!
It's the EFFORT, folks...what is retirement anyway? You remember a few glitches along the way, but are more strongly in remembrance of the positive sense of love, joy, happiness you provided to others...and before God, as one might believe...brightens the smile just a little more! These folks transport us to our own memories through their music, no matter how well performed (sure, we'd like it that way, but....). God Bless, Felix...band...and THANKS!
Saw the Young Rascals growing up in Hawai'i twice...'65/'66 in Honolulu at the HIC Honolulu International Center Arena, '67 they played outside in the Exhibition Hall where my friends from HS and my Surfing Brothers opened up the show...The show was FREE Open Floor, No seats we could walk right up To the Stage and watch them play...Hawai'i was one of their favorite places to come to...They wrote a song called, "My Hawai'i" Classic song!!! What a time it was to have grown up in!!!
My cousin and I never missed them at the Shower of Stars in Birmingham, Alabama. So long ago but when I hear the songs I’m back in the 60’s. Best music ever in the 60’s.
@@thewaysofnature ...No they didn't play there.....I was a Rascals nut....they were my favorite group back then...I still enjoy listening to their songs and it brings back memories of my days back then.
@@daiiahi3403 my friend must have been joking because there were a lot of homegrown bands back then. There was one in Kalihi that played a lot of Rascals. Maybe that local band played at the school dance. Anyway when I was told that the Rascals played, I said no way. That homegrown band even had a short muscular Eddie Brigati looking guy as the lead singer. So funny and cool to watch.
Felix was one finest Pop Writers in the History of Rock. A lot of what made the group was that their Music was fairly sophisticated and it’s easy to see they put hours and hours of work into making it interesting. This was a group with enough real hits to put together a great show.
Can't believe I was just sharing stories today with my friend Georgia (a huge Rascal's fan) about Felix, Eddie, Gene & Dino (R.I.P.) . There are no coincidences - this video had to come up on my feed, & I of course had to share it too 😀👍
Back in the mid 90's Felix played at the hatch shell on the Charles River. Besutiful show beautiful man.I took my 10 yr old son who adored the Rascals. Whren the show was over we were walking behind the Shell and Felix was stsnding there by himself .Joe Joe aproaroached him to say hello ,they chatted a moment and Felix said let me sign some thing for you ,no paper so I gave him a five dollar bill and he wrote zGod bless you Joe and may all yor dreams come true. Felix Caveliere .Its framed and sits in my studio with studio along with Ben Orr's and Rick Danko's autographs .Great momory .
I saw them in Sackets Harbor NY a few years ago along with Herman's Hermits. The Rascals were my favorite group of the 60s and they didn't disappoint, Too bad Felix and Eddie were not with them at that time. The show was still great . Always loved their music and still have their greatest hits CD in my truck.
Time Piece....what an album..not just a catchy cover...Ray of Hope...the original version told me something about this band that was DIFFERENT. That Felix still includes it speaks more about the HEART of the song...and the heart of its writer/singer ( the song was NOT a big hit).
Like most acts that started in the 60s/70s, all of them are now age 70s/80s. Age has caught up with their vocal chords (and their bodies). We can stay home and listen to our cds/albums or go out to hear the tunes of our youth, but not in the same arrangement as 50/60yrs ago. Felix lost some vocal range and Gene lost some leg movement, but they are trying to give the audience a good time. In a few years, all that we will have from 60s/70s bands will be tribute acts.
With fake id in hand. I saw them at a bar called Frivolas in Smithtown NY. There was no stage they were playing on the dance floor. At intermission I stood next to Dinos drums and stood next to him during the second set. Spring fall or summer 1966 forget which.
That is Gene in the front with the red guitar, right? He's got some pretty good licks there! It seems to me that Gene was the equivalent of George Harrison....the 'quiet' Beatle...Felix, Eddie, Dino........and Gene. Thanks for the comment!
Felix & his band performed in Honolulu @ the Blue Note in 2023. It was the best EVER! Didn't want the show to end. Felix sounded GREAT & Gene Cornish made the trip also. Memorable night for all of us!
....as I watch some the pictures...and am reminded who may sang the leads to some of the Rascals great hits...I'd hope to see a few 'action' shots of Eddie...( I like to mess with a little 'tambo' at times...used to be my 'happy' place when actively involved! 😉.
Back then music wasn't about stressing people out. It was entertainment and enjoyment. We've really lost alot since those days. Meekness and innocence existed. Now your choices are a psychopath or a 5'10" blonde.
so Felix's voice has diminished in the last two years, almost like he is having a breathing issue, I know he's 80+. I'm glad Gene is there, I wish Eddie was but I think there is an issue between Felix and Eddie that goes back a lot of years. Gene makes the announcement that all songs were written by Felix. Wrong and unfair: they were written by Felix AND EDDIE!. I don't care for the mashup of songs and the scat talking by Felix. They are great songs that stand on their own. Should they hang it up? Not if people are willing to shell out the dough, that's on the fans , not Felix. No legacy will be damaged, the recordings will go on forever
It was the other way around. I was there. 1967. The Experience opened with a 30-minute set. It was part of the summer-long Schaefer Music Festival at Wollman Rink in Central Park. General admission $1.
When they played in Honolulu in 2023, Gene Cornish played the entire show. We went "nuts" when we saw him. He needed a bit of help going on to the stage but conversed w/ the audience quite a bit.
felix, hate to see you playing all those covers when you have such a huge collection of better rascals material esp from the later era . leave those covers to bar and wedding bands and send us a love letter.
@@stevenarsenault6867 NO!, You give a break buddy! No Dino, No Eddy Brigati, so these Key Players missing, so where re they! Eddy Brigati had one of their Biggest Hits back in the 60's and was a intrigal part, along with Dino, of this band! Maybe back then you were still chewing bubble gum, Pal!

Loved the Rascals from day one and while in high school played in a band that covered a lot of their songs. Unfortunately this is an example of a band that should have quit while it was ahead.
One of my favorite bands but this was painful to watch. Felix had a hard time catching his breath. When you say the words and not really have the voice anymore it's time to retire. I like to remember them they way they were in the 60's. This was the Rascal, not THE RASCALS.
@@sharreetaylor861 that’s life, Always liked the Rascals - a very unique sound - catchy tunes with great melodies. This music still needs to be heard live in 2024. Lighten up.
yes they are old but they enjoy getting out and playing for people, you people that are being disrespectful don't get it yes they can't sing as well or move as well but it's not about that it's letting us old people feel good for a few hours remembering how good those times were. You too will get old and sooner than you think.
