Such beautiful harmony! As a Canadian in my late seventiesI look forward to the harmonies of Heaven where we will all sing the praises of our dear Saviour together. Thanks so much for posting this!
We.had a visiting Fijian Rugby team stay for a competition at my Army base, After a stretch off session in the pool. The team manager gave a pep talk then they all interlocked Arms and sang for 30 mins, it was so glorious and unexpected I forgot to record it the pool hall acoustics made it boom out. What an absolute joyful experience.
I traveled to Wales 30 yrs ago, and there were choirs everywhere, including on the sea front. For people to whom singing is an expression of profundity, it is a most joyful joining of spirit. God bless all loving spirits.
The Choirmaster of this choir has passed on...this is a good memory of this gentleman.....he is a policeman in the Fiji Police Force, and is the face of the Tourism Fiji greeting tourists disembarking from Cruise Liners berthed at Lautoka Port......he is a drawcard with his Ulu vaka Viti-(Fijian Afro)
Utter joy coming across this today. It's 8:34 pm. here in Canada on a cool August evening. Triggered massive waterworks listening to a sound close to the heart. Takes me back to my homeland. Vakaciriloloma dina. Malo. 🇨🇦🇫🇯
I love listening to choirs that sings without instruments, just voices This brings my memory back in my days, in 1970s and 1980 growing up in West New Britain province of Papua New Guninea. I'am watching this video in Port Moresby.
Hello Moses, in English, choirs that sings without instruments are called "Acapella". You may find some good ones on You Tube. Check out "pentatonix" and "The Real Group" as well.
As a young crew-member on the original ss Oriana, in the 1960s, I regularly visited Suva, in Viti Levu, Fiji. When we left, there was usually a Police pipe band (which pleased a Scot! I also liked the "long kilts" worn by the males) and a choir. I fell in love with Fijian unaccompanied singing all those years ago. What a joy to discover this RU-vid clip. Happy memories.
What an absolutely charming comment! Thank you! Fijians of a certain generation have iconic memories of the Oriana. As for myself, my parents and I migrated to England in 1967 on the SS Australis now, sadly, a rusting, submerged wreck in the Mediterranean.
I first saw this Union Steam Ship in 1960, I was 17 years old and I travelled from Vatukoula Gold town to Suva and my impression was nothing like this in Vatukoula. 😮😊🤍 it was so special telling my story and inspiring others to see this great ship in Suva. CracyRev thanks for sharing this amazing ship ss Oriana.
@ThePaleBlueDot No joke man!!!😀 Binge watching Fijian music this morning! Do you know I JUST discovered it? Never heard it before! That Primanavia choir ain't no joke!
Beautiful. I just have to smile at the hang on effects of wearing a white shirt and tie in respect and humble honour to their duty to God in their worship. The British Empire still has its effects all over the world.😉 I’ve had some experience of Barber Shop type singing in the U.K. and it is certainly good fun. Personally I think they need a larger bass section to give it more depth, but they’ve done a beautiful presentation with some lovely people. May Jesus be praised every day in joyful song. 🙏
Merci !!!
Lovely joyful singing by this choir....at this time in August each year....there is a festival singing whilst the Annual Methodist Church conference is being held.....
A capella singing needs to be good - simply because there's nothing behind it to back it up and fill it out. This had a very rich, full sound. It hit the spot. Thank you one and all
Beautiful voices i always say amazing how God created us and so we can praise him in our own languages and yes singing hymns with out instruments really moves me thank you for sharing this lovely voices with the world.
❤ I’m happy to see your organization as I watch you all walking outside ❤ kids with beautiful faces ❤ Moms behind ❤ youth through the ages ❤ I left watching to leave this post after seeing the warrior men filing out of the sanctuary ❤ glorious lives for those that tolerate island life ❤
The last song was the best. It perfectly portrayed the Oneness of the Spirit Christ advocated by the perfect blending of all the voices as one voice - simply splendid!
I have just been to South Pacific area conference in NSW Australia 🇦🇺 and we were entertained by Fijian, Tongan and Cook island choir singing. They sing so beautifully.
They definitely have harmony and clarity down to a science. Their voices are so clear, and the volume is superb. Being Methodist they are limited in their style, with an older style of music that the denomination dictates. I would like to hear Evangelical or even Pentecostal Fijians sing.
Thank you for the insight. I hadn’t realised that being Methodist limited their musical style. I have been to a Pentecostal service where there was more guitar music than choral music. It was still very enjoyable. The Methodists in Fiji have really got choral music down to a fine art. It’s really beautiful. 😃👍🏽🇫🇯
My dear departed Dad always wanted to move to Samoa or Fiji, but he ended up in a little town on the sea in North Queensland. Now I hear and see why. ❤ 👋
Yes, I know. I went to the church to pay my respects. I met him on a number of occasions. Such a lovely man. He called me “brother” and would always go out of his way to greet me.
@@RJ-oe7by I went to the installation of a Fijian chief last year and they sang a Fijian version of ‘God Save the King’ and a Fijian version of Handel’s Hallelujah. Amazing!
That was the style of the 1st group, very to the metronome, not flowing. Thecresof the groups were better examples of musical harmony vs just beating out the song.
These voices are beyond heavenly...SO NOT IN THE RELIGIOUS SPIRITUAL SENSE, but of a musical hauntingly vibe. My holidays in FIJI...were sadly from a tourist prospective....BEING A KIWI therefore tuneful as PACIFIC people are....what my friends are singing is NOT strong REAL or authentic. FIJI...I LOVE, RESPECT, ADMIRE and ENVY YOU. .Please do not allow anyone to exploit your gift!!!!.
