Agreed, considering the hank, bill, and dale are canonically the only 3 (with John Redcorn sometimes breaking the language barrier.) in the show who can understand him. Even the wives who’ve known boomhauer most of their lives can’t understand him. They’ve literally had to be boomhauer to English translators before.
@@InvictusfishMakes sense honestly. Bill probably understand him the best as he can speak Cajun. Hank just knows southern,Dale knows crazy and John knows native dialects
The flashback in the bar is one of my favorites. The way Bill just stops that dude's punch dead in its tracks and is like "Take it easy, friend! We're all just here to rock." and then he just holds them all back while Boomhauer gets Hank out. Great shit. One of the few times in the show that Hank's been an unrepentant total jackass and had to have his ass saved and not the other way around.
Not his finest moment but he was drunk and was trying to boast about his buddy. That and at the time that king of the hill take place if you had a buddy that joined the military you would be proud of them.
This scene is important to not only the episode but the overall series to show Hank's deep sense of honor. Bill was a REAL friend and protected him when he was in a moment of weakness. This is why Hank stays Bill's friend through all of his "issues". He proved to Hank he was a true friend and Hank would never turn his back on a friend.
I honestly wish they hadn't had to cut his bit out of the final credits for the last episode. They originally intended to show a short clip of him finally throwing out the remains of his wedding cake in the back of his freezer before heading over to the Hill house to have supper with the rest of the cast.
@@ryman1933Same. Big dude deserves it. I really hope he gets another bodybuilding arc and actually sticks with it this time. He deserves to be happy and confident
@@rupert5066I imagine Bill is doing better for himself in the sense of he isn’t as sad and has more confidence, I don’t think another body builder arc is what he needs personally especially given his age but more dubs in life and being generally happy is good
@@KnucklesxReala911 I don’t think hank has thinning hair, considering his characters stances on things, he probably thinks a pompadour is something for a young man and chose a more ‘mature’ hair style as he aged.
Every time I see men with cropped, buzzed and especially shaved hair, I think to myself _"That man doesn't deserve to have hair; he deserves to go bald"._
@@JanetStarChild Some of us don't want to have to stand in front of a mirror for an hour every time we leave the house. I' ll stick with my short hair because getting ready for work takes a grand total of 20 minutes including making coffee.
Luckily he didn't, Joined the military and quite likely the right call, he "Chipped his spine" On one of those high school plays. He would have had to go through the college gambit first; and considering his trademark *push" is so hard on the body I doubt he would have kept that shit going for a while.
@@eliasakkerman4597 Agreed, the body can only take so much and time is also a factor, by age 35; he would've had something worse than a spine fracture.
@@johnbode5528 Dude, that's bad. Crippled at 50? Rigorous activities that require strenuous muscle movement, mainly sports will wear the body out. Being crippled at 50 is no win, dude.
The way he dominated his diabetes and how he quickly got into a build similar to the maximize your pump guy makes me think Bill’s genetics are super powerful. Like he was lifting those weights for maybe half a week? And he was already just as jacked as that crew.
Well he has genetic and muscle memory from army and football. If he actually put some effort he easily could be as jacked as a football superstar or the best powerlifters
@@lupohutchington269 Problem is Bill's not so good at judging when somebody is good for him. He's naive and too eager to please, which leads to him getting taken advantage of. Ahem, *Peggy*.
Fun biology fact: The number of Myonuclei (which you gain when your working out) in your cells helps make it easier to regain a physique that you once had even if you've been inactive for a long time. Bill is a good example of this since while he still had plenty of fat on his body he quickly regained the muscles of his prime.
Sometimes I like to troll anime fanbases that do those who would win, Luffy, Goku, or Naruto posts, by saying that the Bill "Billdozer" Dauterive could outdo all three.
@@honestdave the sad thing is I see alot of myself in Bill. Fat, Wasted Potential. I still have nice hair and Im taller than Hank but my life has been a downward spiral for years.
I'd say all 4 tbh but somehow bill fits all 3 in 1 Boomhauwer = not much is known sadly backstory wise. Just his dad was important probably. Hopefully reboot does him justice. Same with Bill as most of his family is deceased Dale = cheating wife same as Bill. Hank = Going to a good football career but 1 bad decision (knee break for bill marrying leanore and joining the army) stopped it. Plus hank had a terrible childhood though while bill for the most part seems to be okayish...
Goddamn. Bill stronger than he was in Highschool. The Sabbath Flash back has him going against four-five guys trying to stop him when he was in shape. Out of shape, and unfortunately the number changes from frame to frame, but he was, at max, trudging through 6 in shape highschool defenseives. Granted he couldn't move after, but image him at the strongest we see present day Bill (body builder mode). Image the amount of people it would take to stop him.
@@LatinaCreamQueen And that was against not only gravity, but severely unfavorable conditions (backing a semi down a mountain, blind, with no power steering).
In the reboot I hope bill gets a happy ending. He deserves it. let him get back into shape and fall in love with a good woman that won't treat him like garbage.
He’s had multiple chances to settle with a woman who actually cares about him he just always sabotages it because he likes people feeling sorry for him
I disagree. He’s tough when it comes to specific aspects… this video shows him physically, enduring pain and injury for a single goal. If that’s not mentally tough, I don’t know what is. However He’s not emotionally Tough though, bill was a sweet guy the entire show which people always took advantage of.
I would say more like, he was easy to emotionally manipulate unfortunately. A sense of a lack of confidence in his looks, not having a wife and child like Hank, etc., I feel he was often comparing himself to others too much. He lead to his less than ideal habits in hygiene and sometimes stalking even. His need for emotional support without being able to get it from his guy friends meant that the rare times Hank actually did open up to him and tell him how much he meant to him as a friend meant the most to Bill.
I love everything about this; Ironman by Black Sabbath playing as Bill dozes his way through the DL Hank attempting to stay humble, only to be showered by the gangs' excitement & the coach, oh man lmao Bill: That man can coach. 'coach', idek how many times this man has to kiss him XD
A lot of people think Bill is weak. Bill has been hurt, maybe irreparably; but weakness and wounds aren’t the same thing. When you measure him in light is all he has suffered, Bill is one of the strongest character’s in the show.
If we stick to the analogy of the "Billdozer" we can see Bill as a tank; that is, that you don't think a tank is "weak' after breaking down due to being hit by an enemy projectile, most of the time it can be patched up and put to work just as new, but when something actually destroys a tank you know that it was something terrible, something that would have destroyed everything else that was put in its way; that's what happened to Bill, we can actually see how Boomhauer crumbles after getting his hearth broken and his broke up was nothing compared to Bill's
This man was apparently strong enough to go against gravity and hold back a bunch of heavy furniture from sliding out of the back of a semi truck while going down a mountain and not to mention surviving a tank explosion. I’d be absolutely terrified.
@@epicty3607 not to mention that he managed to bulldoze his way to the DL zone, while dragging at least 6 to 7 other players who were desperately trying to stop him no matter what and must've been thinking, "who the hell is this guy and how is he still going?!" And all this after injuring his leg/ankle, all to protect his record fair and square. Even at his age, William Fontaine de la Tour Dauterive is a straight up beast. If the man was able to get back in shape and clean his life without going a little overboard, he could straight up be a real-life superhero in Arlen. Or at the very least tell Dale that if he doesn't pick up that beer can he left on his lawn (again), then the Bill-Dozer is gonna pulverize Dale straight into a hospital bed
I love how when the furniture starts to slide in the truck, Bill has a brief moment of looking around in panic, until he suddenly decides it's time to bring out The Billdozer.
I’m weak & the thumbnail drew me in. Seeing Bill push that furniture in the truck reminds us all of our “personal superpower” who had in our youth of that something we’re stupid good at & is left behind into adulthood. Then the time comes your power is needed later in life and you’re rewarded with victory only you could achieve. Young adults need to remember what their superpowers are and rejoice in them before it’s too late.
I love how sometimes, we get a reminder of how much of a steam locomotive Bill is physically Even in his age and not taking care of himself, he can push an apartments worth of furniture, against gravity, *_all by himself_* The Billdozer, indeed.
These episodes are important to keep perspective and really give Bill redeemable traits and backstory. Too often he just looks to everybody else like a super depressed doormat, pitiful and not that bright and kind of a loser. Then you learn what a nice guy he is and that he used to work out and how whopping powerful he really is, it's just that his ex wife did him dirty and really fucked up his mental state and he never completely got over it. Pretty sure the only reason Hank wins in fights and can genuinely threaten to kick Bill's ass is because Bill is deeply depressed and has let himself get out of shape. Plus Bill doesn't want to hurt Hank. When Bill has confidence and puts in the effort, he's horrifying. His bad knee failed and put him in excruciating pain and he still slogged on with like 5-6 guys trying to pile on him before getting to the touchdown. He did that while being mostly out of shape, still overweight, and over 40 years old as well. That's basically superhuman that he was still able to do that even if he was struggling.
As a kid I didn’t really care for Bill The Billdoozer but rewatching this in my 20s make me realize bill is alright, he’s just lonely like most of us are really.
Ill never understand how the gang find Hank more intimidating when Bill is capable of: •Blocking a full force punch with one hand •Send Hank flying first class with a complementary broken nose •Haul 7-10 men (in and out of his prime) •Push a while bunch of furniture that can break the backs of 5 men
The thing is, Bill is only capable of doing those things when he's properly motivated and not in the middle of a depressive episode. Hank on the other hand is a scary mf when he is truly angry, and he is always one of hand comment away from getting truly angry.
I'm just now noticing Bill's football numbers were my exact numbers when I played in high school. I even had a nickname while on the field: the Jackhammer. Funny thing is I never watched a single episode of koth back then, so I couldn't have known about this
5:52 really? No fair? Man cheated Bill out of his record. If anything Bill extended his record. And he's got the balls to demand an asterisk next to Bill's name. Geez
Bill is one of my personal role models. Don't let age get you down, don't let being unfit get you down, and don't let bad people get you down. Be a good man, and be a tough man, and life'll sort itself out.
