Problems with this review - no benchmarks - very little thermal testing/info - you only compared it to one other laptop If you compared the price and specs of this compared to something like say, the Legion Y740 or Helios 300, it's probably less of a "no brainer".

Agree with that. However comparing this with the Helios 300 and Y540 make little sense since they target different needs.

@@mcslender2965 I'm curious what you mean by "target different needs"? They are all meant to be powerful, compact gaming laptops. It's not like any of these are specifically tailored to content creation.

I bought an aero 15 x9 and the thunderbolt was a huge checkbox for me then. I NEVER EVER USE IT. NEVER. I use the other one that does displayport but NEVER the thunderbolt one.

@@Dumpster-J- I have an Aero 15 1060 model, Thunderbolt is great for not limiting your choices.....I never used it for over a year, until I wanted to buy a docking solution, I was pleased that I wasn't limited by low bandwidth 10gbps usb docks.....but I could buy ANY DOCK including 40gbps thunderbolt docks........Also I am thinking of buying a fast portable SSD.....the samsung X5 is on my list, they all are, since I can get usb or thunderbolt external drives.......Yeah, I didn't use thunderbolt often.....but it was nice to have when I finally needed it. Personally I think a new feature I will be looking out for is USB power delivery, I don't game for days to weeks at a time, the ability to carry around a small 45 to 65w power delivery charger for productivity/web browsing would be nice. That I would use more than thunderbolt. Check out the new Intel collab laptop (Eluktronics Mag 15, XMG fusion 15). it's a worthy aero 15 replacement.

@@kninezbanks the aero has so many ports I'll never need a docking solution. That's one of the reason I got it. I'm sure there's applications for it like one plug and your done. Some new gaming laptops are dropping thunderbolt entirely. I love my x9 a bunch.

USB 4 (40gbps) is coming and AMD laptops don't have TB. TB3 would have been great if it wasn't so expensive for 3rd party manufacturers to licence from Intel. There's just very few usable and affordable peripherals.

Nice review, but not totally sold on the Neo. There are definitely some excellent options in the 2k price category. I picked up the Lenovo Y740 with very similar spec (8750h, 16gb, 512 gb ssd, RTX 2070, 144hz 1080p) but with thunderbolt 3 for €1800 and 2 year on site warranty. HP Omen worth a look too.

Actually the xmg neo 15 is not priced that diferent, the razer blade 15 with 2070 max q is around 2500€ in europe on amazon right now and the equivalent on this laptop is 2010€ but without the 240 hz screen on the blade so we can add around 80-90€ and it goes up to 2100€, so the "razer premium" is around 400€, yes it is still a premium added by them but the battery life is better on the blade, the aestetics are also more minimalistic and like a macbook pro which many people will agree is very beautiful(specially if you take the mercury white) and pleasing without all those air exhaust vents, and it is made of pure anodized aluminium and is also thinner and lighter. Also it can be configured with an rtx 2080 max q and with 4k oled hdr screen, the price skyrockets but at least there is more options on some important stuff like that. So yes it is more expensive but despite that the razer blade is still superior on many aspect that can be more important for some people, comparing raw power versus price is at the very least missleading on laptops, as they need to be versatile in many aspects, enthusiast of raw power and performance may not agree for sure anyway that is why things like the area 51m exists.

Jose M. It’s the same laptop just from a different company - they are just off the shelf components and a case directly from the factory in China and then they stamp their own logo on it and resell it as their own.

While I understand you're comparing MSRPs, the Razer Blade has been discounted so much in the past few months, it's crazy. Microsoft Store, Best Buy, etc have all discounted the RTX models by a lot. The 2070MQ models were available new for $1799, which roughly puts it in the same price bracket as this XMG. The trade-offs here are the mechanical keyboard, which I thought could be an advantage but is probably not as comfortable to type on as per your review, and the battery life - the comment you make at 3:45 is pretty much why people consider a Blade anyway - good battery life (6h+) with RTX graphics and a metal chassis. XMG cutting down the battery size is a letdown, imo. The Eluktronics Mag 15 (which has the same chassis) cited a 94wh battery which is why most people were interested in it anyway.

This feels more like a Y540 or maybe Y740 competitor, not a blade competitor. I can't imagine someone who is actually interested in a blade would "settle" for this.

Well, the Y540 is 40% cheaper than the xmg one. So not really an option.

If you use the Razer Blade 15 that you can say if you have any problems with the laptop, software if you recognize the gpu I see several reviews that Razer Blade has many problems

WTF ??? So when a laptop is sealed, the complaint is - bad thermals! when the laptop has a mesh that will allowed him to cool down, the complaint - water damage ... Do you know what you are doing kid ??? Poor review that doesn't address the thermals, no benchmarks, no nothing ! disliked

Dude, love your videos. You should check out the new Intel collab laptop (Eluktronics Mag 15, XMG fusion 15). it's a worthy aero 15 replacement. It fixes the main problem with the Tongfang chasis all these laptops use (including the xmg neo 15).........the two biggest flaws were not thunderbolt........and small/bad battery life........the Eluktronics Mag-15 chasis fixes this. and the 2070mq model with 32GB Ram, 1TB storage is only $1999. Awesome

I think the tradeoffs are good for the price. Yeah you lose the thunderbolt and such but personally for me 144hz is good enough and this has a very decent number of ports. One usability complaint though could be that if you have to use a usb c dongle for some reason it would be at the back so slightly more inconvenient to plug in stuff

The one thing that i dont like about this TongFang Chassis is the 54 Whr Battery as 3hr battery life is terrible for a PORTABLE LAPTOP. The Blade has a 86 Whr battery which is almost double that which has 6-7 hrs of use

It's not as bad as you think. We get up to 5 hours of local video playback on this 54Wh in ideal circumstances. Overall, the opto-mechanical keyboard takes a bit more power than other laptops. Each single key has a little optical IR barrier which recognizes pressed keys. Advantage: switches can be replaced without resoldering; less moving parts that might break. Disadvantage: slightly higher Idle power consumption. If you're looking for a larger battery, check out our XMG FUSION 15. // Tom

All this is, is the exact same thing Xotic PC, Eluktronics, Origin, etc are all doing - buying a standard OEM unbranded case/chassis directly from the manufacturer in China/Taiwan/etc, taking the components that are off the shelf anyone can buy, and putting it together, and slapping their logo on it and reselling it as a “boutique” custom built branding. This is the EXACT same as the Eluktronics Mech-15 g2, literally. Nothing special. Just another resell.

We appreciate your feedback but it's not quite that simple. We have customized chassis (sandblasted), custom fan table, custom performance profiles, customized control center features, larger battery (sacrificing the HDD slot) and custom BIOS (with undervolting and other features). Plus our XMG magic, service and extended configuration options on Bestware[dot]com - in the end, this is an XMG machine with the full weight of our support behind it. // Tom

XMG NEO has slightly more GPU performance thanks to Overboost. But XMG FUSION is overall the more attractive package plus you have Thunderbolt. In the end it's up to your preference and budget. // Tom

It's a dent indeed. I checked with Marcus. He travelled a lot with this laptop before making the review. The dent might have occured at airport security. Aluminum has a nice feel to it, but it's also quite soft. No hard feelings. No pun intended. The magnesium-alloy chassis of XMG FUSION 15 is more strong. On the other hand, that alu chassis of XMG NEO is also quite strong in all the right places, as long as you don't throw your power brick or DSLR on top of it. Not saying this is what happened but you never know. Cheers, XMG|Tom

@@PcCentric I looked online it's like 1300 EU but seeing as this is in Europe I probably can't get it cuz I'm In the US it does look ok not as nice as the Asus rog thin laptop , or the MSI as well as I might as well with go OLED gigabyte laptop dam that would be a perfect machine

The blade is amazing because of the build. It is a Black Windows MacBook Pro. That’s why it isn’t “defeated.” Idk why you only compare to the Razer. This is just a laptop review with a clickbait title. You didn’t even compare what the price is to match the specs just said that it is cheaper... you’re not bad but I think you missed the point on this review.
