The Reactive Extensions for .NET ("Rx" for short) are a set of libraries for working with asynchronous and event-based information sources. While Rx has become widely adopted in client-side code, its roots are in highly scalable server-side processing. In this talk, Ian Griffiths will show why Rx should be a critical part of any .NET developer's toolbox, and will illustrate the powerful processing and orchestration facilities Rx provides.

Great explanation Ian. Hadn't ever really looked at this before but you explained it beautifully and the demo application was a great real world example

Forgive me if you answer this in your talk, but I have to ask if you can point me towards reference documentation that isn't xml-generated. Your video starts by suggesting this is one of the "least well known features" of this ecosystem, and that's why I wound up on your page- I cannot find documentation for how this library is to be used anywhere. Having sought this tooling from my pleasant experience with rx.js, and having seen how good documentation can be in the .NET ecosystem over the last year of working in it, I'm very confused about the state of this project given the lack of documentation I've come to expect from tools in this ecosystem. While perusing one of the multiple open issues across the microsoft ecosystem about absence of, or messaging around the Rx/Ix.net documentation, I also saw mentioned that this project is supposedly a part of the .net foundation? I won't claim to know its standards front to back, but I feel as though my quest for documentation has been illuminating regarding how inaccessible it is... this can't be what the .net foundation expects of its member projects. That said, if you have any 2-cents about that, I'd also enjoy hearing it. Maybe I'm just mistaken 🤷🤷🤷 In the meantime, I truly appreciate your effort in putting together this resource.

Hey Ian, thanks for the introduction. To be fair, in the last part of your talk, when you talked about the importance of using Observer vs IEnumerable or IAsyncEnumerable, the most difficult issue would be the timestamp operator. In a pull-based scenario, it would be impossible to correctly timestamp the events incoming, provided that you don't do a ridiculous polling (like 1 / sec). Anyway, thanks for the introduction

An Apple Watch would have saved you a lot of development time. It measures oxygen levels automatically.

That would have made for a far less interesting talk!
