Watched the train scene in 'Knock, Knock' with both audio-tracks (the one with Tahiti and the other one with the Ghostbusters theme) . Although it has been played occasionally in some episodes before (and continued to do so in other episodes), this song was definitely the better choice. Never thought that a pop-song could have such a haunting effect on a scene like that. Another reason why The Real Ghostbusters still holds up to this day.
I could not agree with you more. Knock knock is one of the series greatest episodes, it's like watching a standalone film. And that is in large part to the original music used in the episode. It's just not the same without this.
Was a winter’s night, the rain was pouring down As the thunder rolled, lightning flashed across the sky Sensed a sudden chill, a heart as cold as ice Not a wink or blink, from your eyes, you’re electrified Don’t look behind you! He’s gonna find you! The boogieman Is lurking in the dark The boogieman He only wants your heart The boogieman You know he’s gonna getcha! The boogieman Oh, you better keep your distance The sight of his face, frightened you to death Tried to break away, but your feet only ran in place Terror filled your eyes, your lips began to quiver There’s nothing to fear, close your eyes and he’ll disappear Don’t look behind you! He’s gonna find you! The boogieman Is lurking in the dark The boogieman He only wants your heart The boogieman You know he’s gonna getcha! The boogieman Oh, you better keep your distance The boogieman Is on the loose tonight The boogieman Gonna catch you by surprise The boogieman Oh, watch out, he’s gonna getcha! The boogieman Oh, you better keep your distance Deep inside your mind, awaits the boogieman You’ve got to look out! Oh no! Wait a minute, wait a minute, he doesn’t wanna scare us, he wants to, you know, Dance! The boogieman The boogieman Just lookin’ for some fun The boogieman He’s not out to hurt anyone The boogieman He likes to boogie-down, yeah The boogieman Is on the loose tonight The boogieman Gonna catch us by surprise The boogieman Oh, watch out, he’s gonna getcha! The boogieman Oh, you better keep your distance The boogieman Just lookin’ for some fun The boogieman He’s not out to hurt anyone The boogieman He likes to boogie-down, yeah The boogieman Is on the loose tonight
Man! i've been looking for this song since i saw the boogieman episode! what a great tune! makes me break dance like good ol days :D thanks MrBWilliams83 for sharing this piece of everybody's childhood ...whoo hoo!!
Rylosalex Who knows if that will be possible. Say if La La Land Records (who specialize in soundtrack releases) were thinking of doing this, it may take some time to sort out between Sony, possibly Universal Music as Tahiti were under Polygram Records at the time and of course Saban Records. Well I can see Saban being reasonable, but will the other companies see the potential for profit though...Maybe? A lot of Shuki's music deserves more respect that it has in America over the years.
@Stefano Pavone As stated they just didn't think many people would want to own cartoon soundtracks at the time. Many shows had the same missed opportunity.
@Stefano Pavone Do you know if that contained any songs, or if it was a story cassette of sorts? As there were a few Real Ghostbusters audio stories released back in the 80's?
When I first watched Knock Knock with the theme song instead of this song I was genuinely upset. It’s so effective. Glad I still have it on VHS! The dvd version is garbage.
Peter - this settlements my opinion egon but this isn't going exactly as you planned it right suddenly snakes appear in front of the Ghostbusters Egon - let me get back to you.
this is my favorite song from the RGB soundtrack by Tahiti. bad thing is I hear their songs any time some movie does a throwback 80s song in the sam vein.... oh how I love this song. Man, I'm mad they changed thisto the RGB promo in the DVD release of kKnock,Knock
UPDATE: Track I'm looking for plays in the episode Ragnarok and Roll, season 2 episode 32 on dvd (overall episode from season 1 forward). Plays when he plays the world and they overload their proton backs to stop him. It's just an epic, booming "end of the world" theme. Incredible. I don't know if this track is on the soundtrack, but there's a particular track that plays that can only be described as epic. It plays when they are about to finally destroy the Boogieman on the bridge, and also the episode where that guy who has a certain flute he can play to destroy the world, with a hunchback for a partner who helps him, until he betrays him at the end because he can't watch him destroy the world. It is that epic track that is saved for moments only when extremely serious shit is going down, like the end of the world, or the fact the Ghostbusters might die. I'm sure RGB fans know what I'm talking about, and can point it out. Help me out here. Sounds all orchestral, I think. No lyrics for sure, with maybe some keyboard and such played in. Kind of a repetitive end of the world, serious type theme. Someone here will pull it out--I know. Help me, fellow busters.
The actual soundtrack like most cartoon shows was never released to the general public. Sorry. These Tahiti tracks were only uploaded as someone had a rare demo tape and was able to upload these. The Shuki Levy BGM tracks were never made available, as is the case with most of his work, and like most other cartoon shows.
okay so this comment is 4 years old, but i think i know exactly what you're talking about !! i don't think it was ever officially released, but i found a recreation of it on youtube: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HSuzHQq3yWA.html i really hope this helps!!!
This series was amazing until it went down hill with a lot less of the guys and way too much Slimer. I loved Slimer, but when it became "Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters" it went wrong.
Agreed! I've always felt exactly the same way. Even as a kid,I thought it was a terrible idea to turn the show into ''Slimer And The Real Ghostbusters''. What would have been better would be just to give Slimer his own separate spin-off show but turning the Ghostbusters into his backup/supporting characters was idiotic to me and while I loved Slimer, even as a kid,I thought that the character was annoying and buffoonish-it was almost like the showrunners and the network figured that kids were stupid and that they wouldn't ever eventually get annoyed by Slimer always being silly and doing silly things(maybe I was just different as a kid but sometimes I just found Slimer to be a little bit TOO annoying).
“Wait a minute, Wait a minute, he doesn’t wanna scare us, he wants to, you know, Dance! I would improvise “She into it” while me & my Wife can do a Live encore performance rendition of this roller coaster tune, that only Shines, Shines, Shines every tyme I sink into Eighties Bubblepop/Horror hybrid Bliss. 👻 👿🎸
Rusty Shackleford If they were to ever do another live action Ghostbusters Movie in the future, would you ever love to see that same boogeyman in live action?
