I really think that she does it when she's feeling uncomfortable or vulnerable. Or a kind of trained behavior when there is a camera. The part where she met her schoolmates from that school in Utah was just too painful. I didn't really know Paris. I was too young at the height of her "popularity" (notoriety??) but after watching her documentary out of curiosity, I kinda get her. It is kinda a great thing that she came from a really rich family that she can overfunction (create businesses, fly around to DJ, etc) cos everybody else, I think, would have a hard time coping from the things she experienced. Damn.

What she is saying is true. Earlier today I watched a completely unrelated interview of Adam Eget on Joe Rogan’s podcast. He talked about an abusive facility his parents sent him to for behavioral issues. He name dropped Paris as one of the well-known patients (there are others). They would punish you with sleep deprivation and other methods to “fix” you. So I feel for her. And she has come a long way.

There are tons and tons of people with these stories. Just search Provo Canyon School. I remember watching videos several years about the school. I was with a friend that told me about Paris' new documentary and said she was sent to an abusive school. Low and behold it's the same school I had heard about years and years ago. There are schools like this that are even worse outside the US where American parents send their kids thinking they will fix them, but they are just horribly abused in a jungle setting. She's not stupid. She never was. Maybe she chose to be famous in ways that many didn't like or thought was noble or exemplary, but she's a woman who went through very hard lessons about self worth and trust. So to answer the reporter's question about whether a story about Paris Hilton is important when there's covid around the world, the answer is yes. Maybe Paris Hilton the brand isn't, but the story she has to tell about not having people around her to to give strength and good advice when she was at her most vulnerable, only to end up doing something she regretted that demeaned her body and soul is very important, especially to young people now. Doesn't matter rich or poor --- she came from a family with millions who would spare no expense to turn her into the person they wanted her to be, and they chose the wrong way to do it and she paid that price. Fortunately for her, her wealth allowed her to change things around, and she's doing a good thing by sharing that story. I hope she acknowledges publicly that it is her wealth and privilege that has allowed her to have a second/third/fourth/etc. act and many who have gone down the same dark road don't get that. For those who are skeptical and say that she's doing this for publicity, I don't blame them because her track record of cheap publicity stunts speaks for itself. But when she talks about the sex tape and that it would never have happened had she not gone to that school --- I believe her.
