One of the most popular actresses of the 1970s and 80s, Diane Keaton is best known for her roles in The Godfather franchise. Other notable works include Manhattan, Annie Hall, Baby Boom, The First Wives Club, Morning Glory, and most recently, Finding Dory and Book Club. She has received many awards including two Golden Globe Awards, an Academy Award, and a BAFTA Award as well as AFI Life Achievement Award, making her one of the accomplished actresses of her generation.
Born on January 5th, 1946, Diane Keaton rose to fame after her debut film Lovers and Other Strangers (1970) which she followed with several television shows such as American Style and Mannix. She then starred in The Godfather as the girlfriend of Michael Corleone, opposite Al Pacino whom she dated soon after the release of The Godfather Part II.
Diane recalls being absolutely mad on Pacino. The couple dated for close to sixteen years, but their relationship ended by the time The Godfather III came by after she gave him an ultimatum to get married and he refused.
Diane Keaton's relationship history is very star-studded. In addition to Pacino, she has had relationships with Woody Allen, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty. But even with her relationship history, Diane has stayed never been. She is the mother of two adopted children and, at the moment is single.

She's dated some pretty self-absorbed, narcissistic men, so I'm not surprised. Marriage shouldn't be an expectation, but a choice that two people make because they can't imagine living life without this other person. She's exactly the kind of woman I have always found most attractive: beautiful, active, motivated, intelligent, confident, and with developed opinions of her own that she's able to discuss why she is of these opinions. A woman with a brain and a spine every time!

I got married rather late in life and it’s true the older you get the more set in your ways you are and the harder it is to put up with another’s idiosyncrasies simply because you don’t want to be bothered with things like compromise or someone else’s temperament. It’s hard to let go of your own personal independence where you can come and go without checking in with someone in order to be considerate. I imagine someone like Dianne Keaton has always been very independent and if someone has no trouble going out and they are able to find fulfillment in other ways sure why does someone need a husband.

You will find some women that have worked hard and financially secure. Become independant. Might be they dont want a commit to just one guy. Now that i am some what financialy secure, meaning meeting my bills, it wiuld be nice gi hsve a partner to share special moments with , sunrises, sunsets, morning coffee and a snuggle bunny st night. Just saying. But in reality, some older men are not interrested in older women.. they want young trophys

He took care of every financial matter, bought all our cars, etc. I had to ask for anything I wanted. He was in business with his family,which caused friction between us more and more as time went on. I tried to get him to get away from all of them so we could finally have a our own lives. Now I’m still in the grieving process, but how do I make My life now that I have a new beginning. Do you have any advice for me? I have a son and a daughter. I’m not employed...thanks

@@barbararucker5485 Thanks for reaching out! I can't imagine the huge adjustment that you're going through in your life right now!! Married in 1964? That was the year after I was born! I hope that you have community that you can go to for friendship and support. Neighbors? Church, or other community organizations? How is your r-ship with your kids? I'd say get involved in your community: volunteer, join a senior center, take classes -- but that is pretty hard now with the dang COVID. However, what kinds of things have you always wanted to do? Travel? Create art? Work with kids? You're never to old to follow your dreams! Best of luck to you in your new life of freedom! :)

I was almost 40 when I married....I loved and enjoyed being single! Had the greatest times! But when I finally found THE ONE, we've been married 30 years! And I dont regret one second of getting married! We have the best times! My best and closest friend! I wouldnt change one thing! Most men in my family wait, get married late, and marry one time, and stay married! Once and only once!

Thank you. After watching this I realized that I have the exact same personality as Diane. Giggly, chatty and well, different. People with our personality have a disconnect with regular folk because they find us too chatty to cope with and we find them too dull to cope with on a day to day basis. We have constant new ideas and love problem solving. That's why I don't date, or have many friends that I reallly connect with. But if I do find someone, either man or woman with my personality I make sure we become friends for life. Also, some other things: I say what is on my mind, as verbal communication is key, non verbal cues mean nothing to me, I don't see the logic in being a servant to a man, I dress in androgynous clothing, have a high visual sense and love historic architecture, am tenacious and don't mind working in low levels jobs if needs be. I'm also constantly trying new things - like every day. That has driven a boyfriend crazy. It's a definite personality type. Thanks so much for making me realize I'm in good company.

I was engaged two times, but I was always chickenshit of marriage. I was never the girl growing up who imagined myself with a husband or children. I am 50 years old, never married with a 14 year old son. I am grateful everyday and don't regret. I would never get married because I need to, if I do marry someone it would be because I want to. Can't say I have felt that way, yet. 😊

I was married so I have done that and am now doing the independent life section. Being me, a member of society, not defined by the word wife but a worthwhile individual with my space in society. It’s not easy as, especially for a woman, you are difficult to place. At the dinner party, the dance or the board meeting. But when there is enough of us ‘independents’ to become the norm then we will truly be free

She had (is still having?) a great career without being married. Btw, her input helped Al Pacino get the "Michael" role in "The Godfather." There was extended wrangling over the casting of that role, with the Paramount bigwigs not wanting Pacino but director Francis Coppola believing that he was right for the part. Coppola thought it would be a good idea to get Diane's opinion on who should play "Michael", since she already had the "Kay" role locked up. He had a private conversation with her and asked her: Which of the actors being considered would she choose? "Al", she said, without hesitation.

Yes. I'm 61, never married. I don't think I'm completely unfortunate looking... fairly fit. But I think somehow I inadvertently wear boy repellent. 😂 I've lived a fulfilling happy life and simply appreciate being independent. Definitely a caregiver. I most like my doggie friends and time in nature hiking long distance hikes. Yep. Nothing wrong with being single. It somehow makes it easier to make friends.

I do believe in marriage but not unless you meet the ONE you feel you could spend the rest of your life with I tried that when I was young the rest of your life is a long time so since then I have been single for 25 years two dates. Maybe she just never found someone that she wanted to marry who also wanted to marry her. I honestly can’t believe how often that perfect line-up happens, to the point people think it’s strange when it doesn’t happen. If no one’s asked her, it’s out if her control at that point, right? She can’t just conjure up a husband, or plant a husband seed and pick it when it grows. Things just haven’t lined up. It’s not common, but it happens, even to celebrities.

I'm a tad confused: the narrator says that Woody Allen was the first time she dated anyone in the movie industry but a few moments before saying that the narrrator says she dated Al Pacino who she co-starred with in "The Godfather I & II" which was very early in her career - i.e.: long before "Annie Hall" or anything else she did with Woody. So what is it, Al or Woddy?
