As someone constantly checking for updates about the game, i can tell you the game team has expanded in number, much more of a full company now so its easier to do all the shit they had in the kickstarter. But remember more cooks in the kitchen can only reduce the cooking time so much

It’s really crazy how they just promised more and more, yet didn’t know how hard it would be, nor how long it would take.

I feel like week 8 (which is apperently releasing soon) needs to show of the quality that the whole main game will have; if it ends up being meh I feel like most people will feel like the wait wasn't worth their time. Hoping for the best.

I enjoy Friday night funkin, especially the mods, so I hope that week 8 along with the other weeks they have planned comes out. We've already waited this long so I don't care when they come out I just want the game to continue

Overambition is, ultimately, the main factor of why fnf is in the state it's in currently. Not to mention the fact that, since mods have lead to the community having higher expectations over time, one can only imagine how much pressure the funkin' team are put under. Sure, they didn't expect the game to boom in popularity like it did, but they also might've bit off more than they can chew with those promises. It's even funnier when you realize that fans themselves have suffered from being overambitious, as that's often why mods of the game get cancelled left and right, outside of the usual drama, of course.

Idk if this has already been pointed out but the team they have is quite a bit more than 4 people now. While yes that was the size of the team originally, they've expanded since then.

I remember having a friend that would blast songs from this game in party chats and if we told him to turn it down he would always refuse it got to the point that his family started telling him to shut up

As someone who used to play fnf.. A LOT The game is fun but the community was filled with SO MUCH DRAMA. But the reason it became so popular well are children and the passionate modders. And look at mods like indie cross that have 50 people that worked on and the content still is kinda small. So imagine what 4 people gotta do for making this thing 6 times more. But at the end of the day the modding community are the ones who hold this game on 1 string and its slowly collapsing.

Tbf it's kinda sad how FNF is getting the same treatment that Undertale and Omori have been getting a long time ago. Where simply mentioning Undertale would get numerous people harassing you, and people thinking that Omori is a scam due to poor communication. As someone who's a pretty big fan of the game, and was since 2020, I do criticize the poor communication, however, I can 100% confirm that the game isn't, and won't ever be a scam. We do occasionally get Twitch Streams from the game's main animator, PhantomArcade, who has even confirmed some really cool info for the game (such as FNF having interactive cutscenes), we've gotten leaks for the Darnell week and even a leaked cutscene animation from Sadewoo (the animator for Hi-fi rush), etc... So I can 100% confirm that the "scam" accusation is bullshit. BUT, the devs do deserve criticism for bad communication, even I criticize that. It's just unfortunate that people either way won't do their research on this topic. Ik the news are vague, but they're not nothing.

True reason why the game died, Lack of updates, and Mods started getting too high quality to pump out enough for the game to stay alive. Also modding this game is really really easy. like serisously i was 12 when I made my first modifacation to this game.

Devs said they'd release the next major update before the end of this year, and they've been really hyping it up over the past 2 years. this is a great video but its kinda.. like "outdated"? idk but the info you have is kinda old, the crew isnt 4 ppl anymore, its a literal studio. phantom arcade stated in a stream (good luck finding it, hes done alot) that alot of what he is doing (which is drawing/animating, thats his main role) is for the studio, like hes been making many character sheets and sketches for the artists hired to follow so it looks like the fnf style aswell as leading the art direction and game, theyve been dealing with legal stuff regarding the game and hiring people to work on it too. The next update is also not just the next week of fnf, its what people call a "V-slice" update, idk too much about game development but he said that a V-slice update is essentially what the full game will look like at its HIGHEST quality, like a decently sized snippet of the full game at the highest quality it can get because this update is supposed to be one of, if not the last update to the game before they just lock in and go silent until release. they're trying to get it out before next year (in which i wouldnt like hold it to them, i kinda doubt it'll come but hopefully) its supposed to hold more than one week i believe, there has also been a preview animation cutscene floating around YT, showing pico running from nene and darnell, and it looks really good. So i personally think they arent just running away and its fallen into the Deltarune/undertale and omori... trap? idk, but it gets announced and it doesnt come out for 10 decades bc it'll take a long while, only thing we gotta hope is, is that its not.. bad :)

This game is basically having the same treatment as Omori and Undertale. Let me point out that just bc game devs stay quiet, doesn’t mean that production of the games are over as a whole. Matter fact, the funkin crew haven’t actually been silent whatsoever. PhantomArcade does streams where he worked on assets for one of the future weeks (the update will have more than one week btw) and the devs even have a Funkin Blog where they posts update about their progress of the game. And Ngl I would rather have a game or update that takes years and years to make, rather than a game that was quickly released in the span of 3 days. Fun fact btw: the update was going to come out last year, but the devs thought that it could be bigger and better and have more content in it, and I respect that. In conclusion, I really don’t think that the funkin devs scammed us. We just need to be patient and just wait. Game development isn’t easy and the devs brought this numerous times.

FNF it self is pretty dead, but i still cherish it and am willing to wait to see if it ever has a jolt of life that not done by the modding community. I watch alot of the dev team streams and read as much info as i can when it available. This is one of the few games i really want tattoos of especially Girlfriend and BF. The reason it close to my heart Alot of the base game music was simple and it got me trough hard spots of my year including a divorce and i realize how cringe it was, but just having a few melodies you didnt really need lyrics for was what i needed. FNF was like the one friend I could relie on... So seein it now just hurts..so much and im pretty sure at this point im one of the very few over 25+ enjoyer of the game. i always enjoyed pararapa and space channel i like the art style especially BF, GF and Mommy Mearest are my favorite desighns... Just a shame games take time and this one probably will either always be in development or come on and not live up to the mods causw the mods can go hella hard.

heyo longtime fnf fan here (derogatory lol), appreciate the research put into this vid but it’s missing info from places like twitter, the official funkin blog, and twitch so here’s what the people should know: - the team’s bigger than the original 4 developers now with new coders like EliteMasterEric and MtH, along with likely a whole slew of people who’ve yet-to-be-announced as being on the funkin crew - the next update is called the v-slice update, because it’s supposed to be a “vertical slice” of the full game’s content with most, if not, all of the new features - the developers are anticipating the update to come out this year hope this can dispel any misinformation about fnf’s development and that this didn’t come off as too haughty or long-winded :)

Honestly this amount of waiting is somewhat normal for a game made by devs from Newgrounds, I mean the last _"big"_ game that was developed by Newgrounder devs was Madness: Project Nexus and that thing had almost a whooping 7 years in development. Granted, Madness didn't get 2 million dolars for that, and didn't have such a massive crowd to please, but the sentiment is the same.

If you are skeptical about this game- the first 'theory' which shouldn't be a theory at all is all the reason to it. You have to remind yourself, they are making cutscenes, animations, voice acting, music, properly key-ing the notes and even collabing with other artists along with their own unique styles. Also, 2 years in game dev for that scale isn't "I got a scammed" moment- sure it's long, but that's the reality of making games, and yes, I am aware that Dani can make games within just a few month, but he was doing it with minimal effort- even literally including the video that he gets assets for the things he needs.

FNF itself is a fun game if you have nothing else to do, I like it, it’s just the community that ruins it. A kid at my school plays FNF regularly today and god he’s awful. I went to this school just recently last year and I seen this kid. We’ll call him Ian. Ian is a bullying target, and a good one at that as a borderline bully myself. He had a bad hairline (McDonald’s Symbol), is not intelligent in the slightest, creates blatantly stupid lies to make him _seem_ like he’s in the right, when he just makes himself look stupider. He’s also very weak in terms of extracurricular activity. He challenged me to an arm wrestle (the middle school hierarchy system) and he failed, miserably at that. Who would’ve thought, the kid who doesn’t play sports rivals that of the speed and strength of the jocks? Not to mention, the jocks are chill (until something happens) and are my best friends and have risen me to some of the more popular kids at the school. Anyway, after failing miserably our boy Ian said he was just warming up, and we would arm wrestle for real. Get ready for this… He lost again, I won effortlessly. And then he accused me of cheating and school ended. I’d just like to know how you cheat in an arm wrestle of all things. It’s not Monopoly the board game, it’s a game of strength that you sit down and force someone’s hand down onto a solid place until their knuckles touch it. Anyway our boy Ian is an interesting fellow, to say the least. He’s caused me to lose my cool, and vice versa. Now, we both shared IEP classes. IEP is basically special education for those who don’t know. I sometimes shared my IEP classes with Ian. I am pretty sure I already established that my relationship with Ian is not the greatest compared to others. Now, about sharing these IEP classes. I was down in my guy’s class doing my work (he’s a great guy by the way, me and my IEP teachers have made me have the greatest time ever at my school, we sometimes exchanged gifts) Now, this Ian kid was easy to lose his cool and this one day in particular was probably him at his worst. I was sitting there, doing my work and he suddenly came in. Ian was not allowed a break or something and had to work, and wanted to play with the things in the cabinet of toys. We had foam dice, board games, etc in there. Basically all you could wish to do while you’re bored as hell in class. This eventually escalated into Ian having a full blown MELTDOWN and he started crying his eyes out and screaming like a banshee. Now this is where things go down. He grabbed the lego project of earth made by the strongest kid in the grade. And you know what he did? Take a guess. Did Ian: A: Pick it up and smash it on the floor? B: Throw it across the room? or C: Ignore it? If you guessed A you’d be correct! Good job! And the kid who made the project was in the room and he got PISSED. If no one was there he would have beat the shit out of him because he got into a fight this year and slammed a kid into a brick wall and held him up and choked him and he was ripped away from the kid against the wall by a teacher. Anyway, the IEP guy took back control of the situation and Ian said “Let me do (whatever he wanted to do) or he gets it!” Ian gestured at me while saying this nah dawg i’m shaking in my boots 💀 I’m pretty sure this was after the big arm wrestling thing with Ian and I. I can’t remember. Anyway, I thought after he said this I thought he was a hilarity, and I chuckled at his antics. Now, now that the highlights of Ian’s meltdown is out of the way, I’ll get to the point where FNF is actually relevant in here. Ian is absolutely obsessed with that indie game mod, the one with Cuphead from… well, Cuphead, Sans from Undertale, and Bendy from Bendy and the Ink Machine. Specifically Cuphead and Sans. When I walked over to Ian to mess with him for my entertainment, he said, while gesturing a finger gun at me; “I am Cuphead, and I will (stupid threat) you with Sans and Bendy!” I laughed at this and sat the seat opposing him so I could make eye contact with him. I’m not expecting Ian to become a humanoid 50’s cartoon character with a cup for a head to appear with a pixelated skeleton and demon made from pen ink. But alas, nothing even happened. Ian kept gesturing that finger gun at me and let me get to the part where he REALLY likes FNF. When I pretended to be friends with him, he watched a FNF mod showcase and he ignored everything anyone said and had his eyes about 4 and a half inches from the screen. Ian even sometimes pretends he has a little keyboard in front of him and he’s playing it. But the imaginary keyboard wasn’t even relevant as he was just pressing random keys, not WASD or the arrow keys. So, uh, Ian even sings along like seen in 1:04 And he’s also frowned upon for literally disrupting entire lunch sessions because he screams for no reason. Keep in mind this is middle school. He also even loses his cool at lunch too. Sometimes he gets so mad he threatens to hit me. If he dares lay a finger on me aggressively I will shove him to another table without hesitation. He also claims to be 50 pounds. He’s probably the least insane child who plays FNF regularly in 2023. TLDR; Kid named Ian sucks at being strong, gets beat in an arm wrestle and accuses me of cheating, breaks the strong kid’s lego Earth project that wasn’t graded yet, plays FNF modern day, and has Skibidi Toilet syndrome for FNF.

The problem is , FNF's genre is like chess , it's fans come and go unless you are dedicated you WILL get bored and most FnF fans (me included) played most mods like over 20 mods 30 mods and just got bored , I bet my arse by the time they release it only 40% of the fans will try it and only 5% of fans will stick with it however something like deltarune which is story based or silksong which is one of the only metroidvanias competitors will always get most of it's playerbase back, the thing with games like FnF , it needs immediate updates , it's like lethal company orr phasmophobia , keep the players away for too long and it's overr

I feel like with the sheer insanity that is the modding community, if week 8 happens to release in this day and age, it would be an extremely daunting task to live up to that quality and do something different. I mean, it's like everything possible in the FnF engine has and will be done. Full on games have been made in it. And people have went on to make what they promised in the kickstarter trailer a reality anyway. At this point, anything they release will never live up to the standard.
