Why not the Old Testament too?

@Matthewstevens I think the reason he said to read the New Testament is because we no longer live by Old Testament law. I am not saying there are not wonderful things all throughout God's Word but the most things that can apply to today with so much application to our life and living today is found in the New Testament. Psalms is an encouraging book with praises of David throughout. So yes, there are absolutely great truths in the Old Testament and things we can apply like the praises in Psalms. And I do believe the whole Bible does have purpose. I am just explaining why I think he said only the New Testament. I may be wrong, but that is my thoughts.

@@matthewstevens2994 Good question, I actually started reading it a few months back every night also. The New Testament is a lot easier to grasp and learning about who Jesus is and what he did definitely makes the Old Testament A LOT easier to grasp. Pray and give the Bible a fighting chance, EVERY NIGHT, and something is going to rattle inside!

This is super cool! I would encourage you to get plugged into a local church if you haven’t yet. Life after Christ is certainly not easy, but there’s no place I’d rather be then where He wants me to be. There are times where you’ll still wonder why God has you where He does, and often times that’s because you don’t need to know yet. Trust God with your life, and you will never regret it!

Praise the Lord!! Remember that he will never leave you or forsake you!! And that verse is in the Bible! Also no one or anything can ever take God away from you. Remember we are all flesh until we reach Heaven. We were all made in the " likeness of Christ" just as we were to be before Eve took fruit from the tree after God created them and gave it to Adam and he ate it too. You may sin but those sins were already paid for when Christ died on Calvary. There is a word that happens when we accept Christ into our heart. It is "Justified". We are justified when Christ comes into our heart. Justified means "just as if I never sinned" Another thing is to remember God gives me us "eternal life" that is in a verse in book of Romans and other places in be God's Word. God will "NEVER " take salvation from you no matter what you do. He says "I will never leave you nor forsake you". Also eternal life spoke of in the of Romans means your salvation cannot be taken away. The Bible also says that "neither Height, nor depth not principles nor powers shall be able to separate you from the love of God". That does not mean we do not need to ask for forgiveness of our sins after we get saved. We do need to even though you will not lose your salvation if you do not. It will affect your relationship with Christ and your rewards in Heaven but you never need to ask Christ to come into your heart again for any reason! Now what if I as a saved Christian since 1973 were to walk away from God, church, and everything that has to do with Christ and go down the wrong path?? Remember, Christ will not leave you! God NEVER leaves you! We as Christians can walk away from God but according to His word God will never walk away from us. If you have never read the Bible start with the book of Psalms. It is a great place to start. I personally like the KJV (King James Bible). It is the closest to the original Bible and it was the first Bible that came out in the 1600's. It is the closest to the actual words that Christ used. I do have an NIV (New International Version) that I use you study to help me more fully understand verses when I do not get the verse or words in a verse. But my main Bible is KJV. Another thing to help you grow in your Christian life is to start reading the Bible every day. I do studies on certain books of the Bible etc like twice a week because that takes longer to do. . I also ordered Our Daily Bread which is a donation of any amount to get it sent to you but if you find one that you like here use it!! I like it because it is a shorter devotional for each day and is very good with a theme verse and a short devotional leaving me more time to pray daily. Last, it is important if you can at all get into a good Bible believing, Bible Preaching church. The Bible says Pray without ceasing!
