I'll honestly choose this over him just realizing that he was in a rap beef where the two other (main) rappers in it actually fucking hated each other (instead of them just making fun of each other) and he wasn't on the right side.
I actually really dig this and see it as an analogy, in a biblical sense, because what Cole really did IRL, it appears, was to choose recognition from God over recognition from men.
