Christ expected His people to be still keeping the Sabbath in A.D. 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed. Knowing full well that Jerusalem would be destroyed by Rome in A.D. 70, Jesus warned His followers of that time, saying, "But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day." Matthew 24:20, emphasis added. Jesus made it clear that He intended for the Sabbath to be kept even 40 years after His resurrection. In fact, there is no intimation anywhere in the Scriptures that Jesus, His Father, or the apostles ever (at any time, under any circumstances) changed the holy seventh-day Sabbath to any other day. The Sabbath was not changed to Sunday at the time of Jesus' resurrection. Sir we are warned never to change God's word. Revelation 22:14,15 please read prayerfully and contemplatively...contemplatively..... The Scriptures bear DIVINE CREDIBILITY all the host of hell cannot changed the Infallible Word of God.

People are going to be a bit frustrated looking for a mention of the Sabbath "85 times" in the book of Acts when that word only occurs nine times in that book. In fact, "sabbath" only occurs 60 times in the entire New Testament. Here's something that makes it clear when and how the sanctity of the seventh day Sabbath (Saturday) was transferred to Sunday. Here's something from Cardinal James Gibbons that explains the change. "Now the Scriptures alone do not contain all the truths which a Christian is bound to believe, nor do they explicitly enjoin all the duties which he is obliged to practice. Not to mention other examples, is not every Christian obliged to sanctify Sunday and to abstain on that day from unnecessary servile work? Is not the observance of this law among the most prominent of our sacred duties? But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify." Faith of Our Fathers by James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, page 86 of the 73rd edition.

The Cardinal is wrong in rejecting the word, saying that the Word alone doesn't contain all that we should use following God. Manmade church traditions are no different than Constantine's changes. The Word taught to us as the Holy Spirit leads us is enough.

I’m afraid this reminds me of that venomous first recorded question in the Bible, “Hath God said?” The Roman Catholic Church has no authority over the Word of God just as the Pharisees didn’t in Christ’s time. If you contemplate all the patterns in the Bible, you will never find commendation for disobedience. Careful study of the seven churches and their characteristics in Revelation is also most revealing. Shalom!

Yes in the Ellen G. White book “”The Great Controversy” she blasphemes and states heresey. Page 575 in my copy (chapter 41 - The earth in ruins about 4 ½ pages from title) it says “In the presence of God and heavenly angels and the host of the redeemed the sins of God’s people will be placed upon Satan.” Satan has nothing to do with my salvation. He is one of the very reasons I need saving. Please don’t twist scripture like EG White and say that on the day of atonement, the one goat represented Christ (to be slain, and the blood put on the mercy seat) so therefore the other goat represents Satan. Who do you think the high priest represents? He represents Jesus! Who does the seven golden candle stick represent? It represents Jesus, the light of the world. Who does the bread in the temple represent. It represents Jesus - the bread of life. From the different layers of animal skins to every offering, all of it represents Jesus Christ. To say the sins of God’s people would be put on Satan is heresy.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say saturday is Sabbath and neither is sunday. God made the sun moon and stars as signs and appointed times cause God knew satan would change it. The Bible says to observe the new moon, which is the start of the new biblical month, the next day is a holy day but not the Sabbath and thereafter you shall work 6 days and then the Sabbath shall be every 7 days until the next new moon. Sabbath is on a different day each month cause God never used the satanic gregorian or julian calendar. Study your Bible properly!

Your history is wrong. Christians were worshipping on Sunday centuries before Constantine. Ignatius, Justin Martyr, the Letter of Barnabas, the Didache, the Didascalia, Origen, Victorinus, and Eusebius all speak of Christians observing and worshipping on Sunday. All of these predate Constantine's reign. Some date as far back as the first century and early second century. Here are two examples: Inatius of Antioch; ordained Bishop by the apostles themselves said: "Those who were brought up in the ancient order of things [i.e. Jews] have come to the possession of a new hope, no longer observing the Sabbath, but living in the observance of the Lord’s day, on which also our life has sprung up again by him and by his death” (Letter to the Magnesians 8 [A.D. 110]) Origen also taught: “Hence it is not possible that the [day of] rest after the Sabbath should have come into existence from the seventh [day] of our God. On the contrary, it is our Savior who, after the pattern of his own rest, caused us to be made in the likeness of his death, and hence also of his resurrection” (Commentary on John 2:28 [A.D. 229]). Now, whether you agree or disagree with their doctrine, it's irrelevant. The reality is that history proves that Christians were observing the first day of the week long before 321 AD. So your statement that Constantine changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday is demonstrably false.

@KingdomStoryfilm You are missing the point. I'm not disagreeing with you on those numbers. What I'm saying is that your assertion that Constantine changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday is historically inaccurate. Christians had been observing Sunday instead of Saturday centuries before Constantine- whether you agree with the practice or not. Sunday observance/Sunday worship was not an innovation of 321 AD.

According to my research, observance of the first day of the week began to substitute for the seventh day of the week as early as A.D.130. See the Epistle of Barnabas, chapter 15, and The Didache, chapter 14. Due to a liberal interpretation of Revelation 1:10, the early church instituted Lord's Day observance on Sunday, the day of Our Lord's Resurrection. It was most likely begun as an annual observance, coinciding with the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread. But it was not referred to as Easter until many centuries later.

My people.are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Ho.4:6 Saturday sabbath was a apart of the old covenant dispensation, a covenant that has been dead and gone for TWO MILLENNIA, The Lord God was the One to change the day, " For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law" He. 7:12. And has shown His approval of Sunday with many signs and manifestations throughout history in His Church, God has NEVER granted true revival to a group that holds Saturday as the sabbath.

@KingdomStoryfilm Your problem is dispensationalism has led you into error, your trying to come from a old testament perspective, when the last temple was destroyed in 70Ad, IT WAS THE END of the old covenant, NO TEMPLE, NO WORSHIP, what do you think "vanished away" in He.8:13 ?, the O.T. dispensation. There hasn't been a Sat. Sabbath (according to the will of God) in over 2,000 years. The disciples and Jesus kept the O.T. law because they were still under that dispensation (until the destruction of the temple), but we see in the N.T. that the Apostles were meeting on Sunday, Sat. had zero significance to the Church, your sitting in a abandoned synagogue with plenty of dust and cobwebs, and no God there.

The Sabbath has never been switched to Sunday although some Sabbath-keepers like to think of it that way. Sunday was, and still is, honoured as the resurrection day, not a new or changed Sabbath. Every reference to Paul and the Sabbath in Acts is a statement of historical fact with no teachings about the Sabbath. It is also historically true that many of the first generation Christians (and generations that followed) honoured both days, each for different reasons. Paul was still of Jewish heritage but the Apostle to the Gentiles and nowhere in Scripture is there recorded any instruction to Gentiles to keep any one specific day in seven holy, be it Sunday or Saturday. The new covenant invitation is to enter God's rest through the gospel.

And yet history records that he (Paul) even met with the gentiles on THE Sabbath to share the Gospel with them. The Gospel does not set us free from obedience..it motivates obedience since the Gospel shows the greatness of the Love of God for undeserving sinners. Obedience is a fruit of love for God in return for the what He has done and continues to do. The venerable day of the SUN - the high day of worship for pagans throughout history that was also a snare for Israel (as they fell into BAAL worship -Baal is the sungod..) and was an abomination to The Creator God. The S-ABBA-th is as unchanging as God is. And it is not logical or biblical that God would exchange His Holy day of worship for a pagan abomination.

@jamesbond8191 It is clear from the OT writings that the commandment about the sabbath is about resting from work. Ex 35:2. Nowhere does it say that the sabbath (seventh day) is the designated day for worship. The weekly form of worship is something that evolved over time as at certain periods, the Jews had no temple to go and offer their sacrifices and worhip. So just as Jesus answered the pharisees in Mark 7:6-13, Saturday worshippers have added to the commandment of God insisting that it is the true day of worship and yet God has given no explicit command to that effect. It is evident that the NT believers met on both seventh day of the week and first day of the week, and there is no requirement from the NT writers directing us to worship on any specific day. If anything Paul in Col 2:16-23 tells us that these traditions of men (sabbath worship) only serve to promote self made religion. The sabbath day was never changed, it can't be changed. What was changed was simply the day of worship.

@rubikqube733 Wow.. you must not be reading the same OT that I am reading…since in Gen2 God sets aside the 7th day as His day of Rest … and does 3 things on this day that He does not do to any other day..God rests on this day, God blesses this day. (And what God blesses is blessed forever), and God makes/declares THE 7th day Holy (sets it apart from the other days for holy use). The observance of this day as His Sabbath is a perpetual command given before there was sin, or Jews on this planet. In the 10 commandments (OT) we are instructed to Remember to keep the 7th day sabbath holy. And sabbath keeping is not just about refraining from common labour… read again the instructions in Isaiah 58 (OT) about what God considers keeping His day Holy. The OT is full of the importance that God placed on keeping the 7th day Sabbath. He even put His name in the day .. Keeping the 7th Day Sabbath is eventually also what distinguished God’s chosen people from the pagan sun worshipping nations that surround them. When Paul writes in Col 2 he is clearly NOT referring to the 7th Day Sabbath since the commandment has no references to shadows, or eating or feasts or new moons … the law that he is referring to is the ceremonial laws that included feasts that ended in sabbath days day that were held on certain dates and months and were shadows (or tools given by which the Messiah could be identified). The Sabbath (according to the commandment of the decalogue) remains unchanged and identifies the Law Giver clearly so that we have no doubt as to Who gave mankind all 10 Commandments. Go study more …

Hi everyone. The answer about the Sabbath/Saturday/Rest day is in Hebrews chapter 4 from verses 1 to 11 but you can start from chapter 3 for a better understanding . If you hear God's word on that day which is today you will get that rest today from your sufferings. So God changed the Sabbath Himself because of our stubbornness. Verse 4 says God rested from His work so we will also rest from our earthly work. Amen

Actually you are wrong, Paul went to the Synagogue on Saturday because that’s when the Jews met. In Corinthians he mentions having communion on the Lord’s day. That’s what Christians do is have communion on the Lord’s day. The resurrection is the most important event in human history and that’s what we commemorate. In Galatians they had the all important question of what the gentiles are required to do. The answer was to abstain from sexual immorality and food offered to idols.

The Passover (Lev. 23) is a picture and type of the crucifixion of Jesus. The waving of the firstfruits is a picture and type of the resurrection from the dead. Celebrated every year for over 1500 years before Christ. The waving of the firstfruits is clearly not on Sabbath. Lev 23:11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. Then you have the feast of Pentecosts also not on Sabbath, but on the first day of the week. Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. And like another comment here - Luke 24:1 - first day of the week. Mark 16:1,2; Matthew 28:1,2; John 20:1,2

@@alanberry5091 Thank you for this insightful comment. I think the brother's comment in question has to do with the belief in a Wednesday Crucifixion ( Matthew 27:57-62 ). If Wednesday it would have to be resurrection sometime on Saturday to get day three. @@nancycorbin7317 Sorry I don't have that book. However I have the Bible and I understand very clearly there are two disciples walking to Emmaus they say Luk 24:29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.. So it is late (Sunday) afternoon when they are talking. Confirmation: 24:1, with 24:13 I also understand very clearly they tell Jesus TODAY (from Sat at 6pm to Sunday at 6pm - late afternoon on Sunday, first day of the week) is the third day. Luk 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, TO DAY is the third day since these things were done. This is for sure Sunday - as Emmaus is more than a Sabbath Day's journey from Jerusalem, which they couldn't walk on Saturday. The first book I ever read that made me question a Friday crucifixion pointed to a Wednesday crucifixion. However, scripture is clear, and I rejected a Wednesday crucifixion. Whether you count by Roman time, ours with day change at midnight, or Jewish, with day change at 6pm, that view of Christ's crucifixion on Wed. would be wrong. Also, read Lev. 23, included are all the feasts of the Jews. Passover is the picture and type of Jesus being crucified. Removal of leaven from the house is a picture and type of Christs removing our sins. Feast of the firstfruits (23:9-11) is a picture and type of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And that day is clearly on the day after the Sabbath. Total sideline, the feast of Pentecost (Lev. 23:15-16) is also on the first day of the week. I believe a picture and type of the start of the church. Acts 2:1. (pente meaning 50).

SUNday only 8 times and never is worship connected with the mention of SUNday. God put His very Name in S-ABBA-th and calls it HIS Holy Day (not a Jewish holy day) ..
