The "have you ever been a member of the communist party" question was disturbingly familiar. Half a century on and the US is still scared of reds under their beds.
That's because the people in charge of this country were early in their political careers or listening to the anti-communist propaganda in school during peak McCarthyism.
We literally had mosques get raided by cops because someone inside praying "might be a member of the Communist Party", in a manner not too dissimilar to al-Aqsa. Yeah, South Africa in 1984 was somewhat ...Orwellian. It literally took Communist guerillas/militants offering to guard mosques while armed with PKMs, Dragunovs and Vektor/Galil rifles to get cops to actually back off for good.
this is why i will always believe the soviets won the cold war outright. the US are still so frightened of anything even remotely resembling communism that they’ll make their own quality of life worse.
Don't think the US is scared of red, because they know China is not red anymore. What they want is money and control, fearmongering is simply a method help them achieving their goal.
Eh, the reds do exist but they come of all stripes just like most other ideology. Fascists are capitalists who succeed in the division of their populace and employ violence to subdue dissent. I have a strong belief that we are a fascist country but they put on airs, very ineffectually at the present. The youth know and this has the gerontocracy worried. Sorry elders, sometimes your kids disappoint and they would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for us meddling kids.😂

At this point, I feel like American politics really is just that Family Guy episode where Lois is running for mayor and just starts saying 9/11 over and over, but now its just "CHINA!"
That’s how it goes in America, it was the Soviet Union, Al Qaeda, ISIS, Russia and now China. All they have to do is scream those things over and over again and the gullible masses will go crazy. Meanwhile all the real problems in the country goes unaddressed.
If a country is capable of ending tens of thousands of kids' lives in broad daylight while the world watches, imagine what it's capable of doing behind closed doors or behind the scenes. Much respect to ANY public figure speaking against it, because it takes courage.

"What's it going to take to get Americans to open their eyes..." I've been asking this question since 9/11, and the answer has been that they'll support fascism instead of supporting each other. They're angrier at each other than they are at the systems responsible. It's wild.
I think it's because people who've tried pointing the atrocities and faults of our system used to be easier to silence and make disappear. Nowadays it's much harder to do. How many leftist movements or prominent leftist individuals in the U.S. were arrested, assassinated, or silenced since the cold war?

Dude from Singapore who repeated so many times it was horribly embarrassing but yet they kept asking about China. I can relate. The American government is so racist..... No wonder there's so much corruption going on. It's a miracle. It's lasted this long
If Singapore and China would had the freedom of press and of speech that exists in the USA, the corruption of Singapore and of China would be seen as being 10 times worse than what is in the USA. This is not a reply only to you, but also to some other people's comments which were different from yours. Although this might end covering the subject that you are interested in, yet this will also cover other people's different subjects that they have mentioned. Now applying "@yuliusseraph4973" own logic with the same measure since (QUOTE) "US has free speech because the ruling class aren't feel threatened" (END OF QUOTE) then with the same logic our Bulgarian, Romanian, Hungarian and Polish friends that lived under socialist nations ruled indeed by socialists (before the socialist branch from the same party that were more 'on fire' for socialism calling themselves 'communists' before them the regular socialists still , they had no free speech allowed, and allowed no freedom, and did not allow the existence or formation of other parties because they were threatened by the only allowed to exist people: threaten by "the working class" that escaped their socialist Sovietic genocide - of the homogeneous working and so called "ruling class." although only a quarter of million ruled over tens to hundreds of millions and all were just "working class" and supposed to all be equal yet some were more poor than the ruling socialists or communists, but yet no freedom of speech was allowed without sentence to death or to labor camps slave labor of the worst possible kind, until death . Those countries and dozens of other countries also under socialism and later into communism, from the beginning of the Soviet Socialist invasion, ended all having only one class = the working class with no one rich remained, no rich existent, no rich allowed. No other class survived anymore due to the Socialist Sovietic genocide, yet the Socialist Party and later the Communist part of the same party, didn't allow freedom of speech and the party socialist party dictatorship as well as the communist part that followed, sentenced to death everyone that spoke against the party, yet all citizens that were allowed to remain alive and survived were the working class, no middle class, no millionaires yet freedom of speech was not allowed since that was a threat to the party, and as soon as someone said something not in line with the Party's politics, was arrested and either sentenced to labor camps and fed with just water and a few slices of bread and nothing else per day to work until death in gulag labor camps, or were just executed, killed; (and that is just because disagreeing with that one party's politics). So your guys that is what you want in the USA. We would like you to end being treated with your own medicine as soon as possible. Those socialists members of the dictator party that took power surely were threatened else would have allowed the freedom of speech without trying to get rid of any single person that disagreed with them. Right ? And this matches your socialist propaganda talk that : (QUOTE) "US has free speech because the ruling class aren't feel threatened" (END OF QUOTE) BUT THAT IS A GOOD THING PROVING THAT UNDER CAPITALISM THE RULING CLASS DOESN'T FEEL THREATEN AND DOES NOT EXECUTE YOU STINKING SOCIALISTS AND COMMUNISTS PROPAGANDISTS which when if power your own "Socialists and communists brothers" did allow no freedom of speech and did execute those that speak against them. Another example was in France after the second world war when the Socialist Party never accepted inside communists as members and never got hijacked by communists, but yet during their continuous rule for more than 35 years, they brought the French society and economy toward bankruptcy and their tolerance for the immigrants islamist Palestinians, Moroccans, Algerians all that were Arab muslims of "is slam" (Islam) made things even worse because once they multiply , instead of being thankful toward the socialists that allowed and approved their immigration, they were trying to impose and the socialist France the Islamic fascism to subjugate and convert by force all population to Islam. Life got even worse and the country even more bankrupt and the people said: ENOUGH is ENOUGH and the French have never voted again for the Socialist French Party in the last 33 years so far. The Socialist Sweden had also the same failure made worst when allowed Palestinian kind of muslims into their country (Sweden which had almost no crimes, . . with the lowest crimes in Europe) and now is the worst number one country in Europe with the highest number of murders all which has started only after the immigration of islamists among which were also some of the Palestinians. Therefore the Swedish Socialists lost the elections as well to now have a capitalist oriented Party to deal better with the crimes and put a stop to the pro Palestinian Islamist propaganda that seems to be contaminating this channels with it's deceit. Perhaps you should listen to the RU-vid Christian Prince channel to get informed with the truth about what Islam is and where it will lead you, especially if you didn't know that Islamic people called "muslims" made all Atheists extinct in all Muslim Islamic countries. If you didn't know, now you know. Therefore your stinking and deceitful propaganda exposed in your comments in this video, leads no one to any better future but rather to much worse of a future, worse than evidently, you are unable to imagine, and surely worse than you could ever be in the USA's capitalistic system, as bad as it may be, the socialism is about twenty times worse and until you live in it, you won't believe. Therefore we suggest for you to get a visa and more in a socialist country like Cuba, Venezuela or any other socialist country that you may be able to discover, or else in a communist country like North Korea, if you prefer communism. And after few years of live in there, you could have a better sense of reality and knowledge of the truth about what system is better. And to "@yamidom9134" as a response to his comment Our Bulgarian, Romanian and Polish friends under Socialism and later under communism were twice to three times more racists in the 1980-ties than has been the Americans, Canadians and the British in the last 50 years to present time. You also could experience racism today in Africa made by black men toward white men that are not rich therefore the black men does not need to hide their racism in order to earn money from the white rich men as they have to hide when a white rich man goes to Africa. You could imagine that if you go to Africa and have enough money, you will never employ or share any money with a racist black man that would act like a racist against you, therefore as soon as he knows that you have money, he will hide his black racism until you are out of money. So don't play the racist card because every country has some racists, even China got racists against black people while there are some black racists against white not only in Africa but even in America. Stop being a hypocrite and repent IF YOU DID NOT DO IT ALREADY BY NOW.
They are self serving, empires need money to be maintained, corruption is illegal lobbying, so you know how it works, and we'll mainted empire's make money for those who corrupt, and the cycle repeats
economic and military power are the closest to fundamental social forces as you can get. so if any misdeed is to become stable or repeated, it would be one that serves the attainment or maintenance of this power
@@minestar2247 i mean, both are stemming from wanting control over the target group’s labor power, and in the case of racism depriving them of all military power especially so you can maintain control over their labor power (see: uh, every colonial settler state ever). sexism is most directly about dominating and controlling women’s labor/labor power, though it later on is forced to use more convoluted, less blatant methods of control. domination of another’s ability to live, via domination of their labor or of critical resources or both, is the core of economic domination and gaining and exerting economic power.
philosophically speaking, the right to live is the most basic and most fundamental right, at least, if you recognize any rights at all. economic power and military power are the positive and negative enforcements/implementations of this right. economic power allows you to dictate (decide, will) who lives, military power allows you to dictate who doesn’t. in this way, a deliberate usage of economic power to deprive another is correctly interpreted as a form of war, or at least feuding. and of course, military power can be used to forcibly acquire limited economic power. so the boundary between the two can be very hazy at times. now that economic power in the form of money and money capital has been allowed to freely exchange itself with almost all other forms of power, of course issues pertaining to rights and life will inevitably lead back to economic power. and due to the haziness of the boundary between e power and military power, as well as continued chaos internationally, of course some of these issues will also lead inevitably to the abuse of military power.

This is why we can’t have political views different from *Capitalism.* Once the big investors get even a glimpse of someone with slight _Socialist_ leanings, they’ll stop all funding and let the his funds run dry, _economic starvation_ at it’s worse.
Ah, but then we working class, from min wage to low end millionaires, will financial starve first in that game of chicken. Personally, i think the lie flat movement in China has some substance. It isn'twhat the CCP media depicts; the younger generations are not just choosing to be homeless. They are actively refusing to work for barely subsistence/slave wages and still not have a place to even sleep or eat without it being provided by the employer. Better off Chinese are refusing to have children or invest their money in the Chinese market (that is why Chinese based LLCs have gotten into the western residential real estate) and so on. We should starve the capitalist machine of children and/or our labor and consumption. We dont need 90% of what we buy and the capitalistic machine will just lay you off one way or the other with automation and/or AI.
Economic blacklisting is even worse. Imagine not being able to open a bank account, clear a background check for a job or insure your car/home because of your political views.
In the same way they strangled all socialist countries with sanctions and trade blockades. And then they were like: "communism doesn't work, don't you see? We banned commodity and technology exchange from this country, and now it's a shithole, say thanks to the local commies!"

When it comes to geopolitics, I find it really fascinating how so many policies, rulings, and decisions are made but where the purported reasons behind them aren't the main reasons, which cannot be openly stated. Everyone is tip-toeing around the elephant in the room, and as long as it isn't mentioned it's all fine. If it's mentioned, it's denied, and everyone soon gets back to circling around the elephant.
@@glowiedetector I'm talking generally. But it's always different from the public reason. Like Huawei, Tiktok, Israel/Palestine. There are always words and topics that the politicians avoid, even during interviews with journalists where they're explicitly asked about them.
@@Ermude10 Happens with national politics too though. As just one example, Germany is hosting Euro 2024, and they deliberately made it impossible to track the overall cost to the taxpayer, to avoid the inevitable resistance.
Politics is always a game of optics because the politicians have to be palatable to voters. However in a capitalist society where money rules what they also have to do is to make their donors happy, which are usually not the people that will have the power to vote them in. And thus you see them dance their little dances to get elected and reelected while still ensuring the money from their donors keeps flowing. Who cares that they have to lie, it's all just a play for that sweet, sweet illusion of power and enough money to set themselves above the rabble that has to vote for them.
The reason why the US 'has free speech' is because the ruling class aren't feel threatened. When they are they do not hesitate in squashing it. Simple as. Thank you for the video, JT!
The hypocrisy that the US points to China as a country with heavily censored public voices and devoid of free speech, and now they are busy working to buy an entire public comms platform in order to censor it
@MargaretBurmingham As long as there are rules to limit our behavior, we're never free, and and are all caged animals being controlled by the higher ups. We're only given an illusion of freedom. When in reality, our actions, speech, even choices are being determined by what our government, religious authorities or anyone above, deems acceptable.

@Nemo12417 TikTok is no different than the rest of the internet, or anything else humanmade for that matter. It has flaws, and more importantly it has humans, making content that is at times disturbing or degenerate. But amongst it all is the beaten, battered, underappreciated creativity of the human race. Somehow it survives, drowning in what we only see as an ocean of brain-rotting teenagers, and still yet true creativity, true inspiration has managed to thrive here. So yes, TikTok, like the internet, is overflowing with senseless trash, trash that the app doesn't create, trash that we, as human beings in an equally senseless world, create. Yet despite this it remains one of the last places where you can find living, breathing humans, who are inspired, and who share their creativity with others through their many forms of expression. TikTok is not awful for humanity, TikTok is showing us what is left of humanity, and what has become of it in the modern age. Don't shoot the messenger.

@davidwang4364 this defeatist attitude is counterproductive. We shouldn't shame people for getting out there and organizing with other people, union makes strength. @davidwang4364 the primary difference is nothing to with hats. It has to do with common decency and sense of humanity vs power mongers with no value for human life generally speaking, just profits and power.
The TikTok scaremongering (along with the general fears about children having cell phones) scares the crap out of me as a child abuse survivor. Limiting access to unfiltered information for everyone, especially children, is incredibly harmful. The only reason I survived my childhood is because I had clandestine access to media that my mother couldn't control. Thank you for speaking out on this so clearly and thoughtfully.
@annaphallactic There's also the genuine concern on the flip side of the issue. Children can and have gotten PTSD from access to the internet. It can harm their perception of relationships and sex. There's also the grooming issue along with extremely easy access to drugs and alcohol.
@@paranoiaproductions1221 You can get PTSD from literally anything in the right context, though. Blaming the internet as our big bad social ill misses...a lot.
So much this. Every time I hear fully-grown people talk about themselves as some kind of hero for installing parental controls or locking their kids' phones away, I just think "Those poor kids are gonna feel 10x as helpless in life as I did." They don't care about protecting kids, they care about fostering dependence and preventing them from growing up to become self-sufficient.

Tolkien nerd here, the palantiri were not actually evil, they were made by the elf craftsman Feanor to facilitate communication betweem the cities of the elves and were gifted to the Numenoreans at the end of the first age and were brought from the fall of Numenor to middle earth by Elendil at the end of the second age. To not even utilise the brain to think and make arguments, you just insulted and attack a person on the grounds that, 'they are charitable to my enemy' -- it's truly pathetic to see that. I hope for you to know -- you should start charging your brain with brain cells before coming into this place of charity -- beauty -- and most importantly -- *communist fragrance.*
@@nondescriptname My fellow friend and comrade, congrats for your humility and honesty -- even some men of greats in the history of the planet would envy you for your maturity -- we deeply appreciate your maturity and excellence.
JT, I'm increasing my patreon from $5 to $10 a month. I'm retired and it's what I can do to help keep your valuable content "on the air." Also, regarding membership in a socialist organization, I've been a member of the IWW for over 50 years, have taken part in numerous union organizing drives, former editor of the Industrial Worker, and trying to start a general membership branch in my new community. So, yeah, like you, I hope people get out there and join a working class group of some sort, and get active - even small actions can have big outcomes.
I hope they keep blatantly and openly uploading their monstrous acts, so proudly that people would understand something is not right about them and their fairy tale of self defense
bruh, that's really and truly obvious. Mr. Beast is easily digestible, easily monetized, and doesn't knock against the status quo. No corporation wants their brand to be associated with someone who openly supports socialism.
my brother just put this on and literally I'm so relieve that someone said what I've been thinking about the past few months so succinctly, im sharing this with all my friends
I've been a socialist since my 14th year, 1980. I live in Oz, same story, 2Psrty System, we are the most compressed capital economy on the planet because it's about 4 Banks's, owned by 4 Insurance Companies, Retail is 4 Chains, but we have a functioning Social Liberal Democracy that provides health care, cheap pharmaceuticals, mainly great services provided by all 3 tiers. I'm also a Foundational Life Member of the Australian Pirate Party Foundation. A techno-social liberal think tank (Not affiliated with PPI). I've been following you for a short time but you've got everything at the "just right" level for non-confrontational conversation happenings - forgive an original GenX Hippie, we live a good happening) and just wanted to introduce myself and say MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE
So maybe it's time to listen to his advice and stop supporting liberal or social liberal organizations and join a socialist (I disagree) or communist one, or even better an anarchist one?
I LOVE how the US media and politics are following businesses men to create a consensus against Shein and TikTok when they defend H&M, F21, Fashionova, Zara... and Instagram, Facebook, X and even RU-vid (shorts) and WHICH DO DO EXACT THING as the Chinese Capital ones...
Similarly, China has always banned all foreign apps and websites. Even though Chinese apps/websites are usually not banned in West, this time it is collecting too much data and helps foreign influence. Like Russian TV channels, there is no surprise in such a ban
I can't stand Trump but tbf Democrats are pushing this policy heavily as well They have a somewhat reasonable justification that they want to regulate ALL the apps to protect our data but they can't regulate Tik Tok if it's not owned by a US company Whether that's genuine or not idk
Banning TikTok is just absurd and just unfair to many people who use it to show what’s going on in the world right now. This current Red Scare is getting out of hand.
I knew this ban was really about the vast majority of young people using it and how they congregate at this online public square. It also seems to be about money, not just influence.
It's about US gov't can't censor content on Tiktok and can't brainwash the new generation like the older generations for the last 75 years. It is "national security" because US gov't is about to lose control on its citizens. It has nothing to do with China. China is used as scapegoat by the US gov't, all the time.
God, I love that you stick to your morals and put your money where your mouth is. That's so rare to see in people in the public eye nowadays. When I get a job again, I'm joining your Patreon
Damn dude, that sucks. I haven't used Patreon in forever, but I'm making an exception later today. Love your channel, plus the Deprogram Podcast. Idk how the financials work for you and the boys, but would it be fair to sign up for the Deprogram Podcast which I assume evenly splits support for you, Yugopnik, and Hakim?
What a coincidence... I just renewed my dues for my local DSA since they lapsed, and then watched this video telling me to get organized! I've also recently become a member of CPUSA. Where I live in Cincinnati, I am lucky that we have several organizations to become a part of.
@davidwang4364 Is this sarcastic...? There is nothing wrong about joining groups you agree with. Especially ones that fight for rights and political freedoms and better living wages. I you mean that genuinely, yes, joining groups of like minded individuals is fun, but I also suggest hearing other people's opinions, yet, someone people are not worth listening to, for some people speak nonsense and never substantiate. As something my dad said often, "listen to arguments, not idiots".
are u stupid????? it isn a risk of sabotage, this dude has an income of around 50000 dollars a month lmfao, he just wants this channel to make him money omg you guys are so gullible. He already had like 18,000 patreons across all his accounts which isl like over a $100,000 a month
the only thing i disagree is: this isn't about money, but power. you look at Amazon, Blackrock, Unilever, Uber... you name it... what does all those companies have in Common: they got infinite money. they do not care about our voices. they never did. and will even continue to operate deep in the Red if it serves their agenda, like Uber and Amazon did for two decades each. if they get more money in the process, to them is just a bonus that comes with the "job". and since they got infinite money, it is the definition of failing upwards, "too big to fail". all they want is to keep their hands in the wheel of the ship, and the only way to win is prying them off.
@davidwang4364 would i?! actually, if i could, YES i would. because he would do the same for me if he could. you guys on the U.S. know nothing about community.
I really worry about this channel with what you mentioned in your intro. The same thing has happened to numerous other voices that don't "tow the party line". First, they get your advertisers to pull out of platforms like RU-vid. When/if that doesn't work, they up the ante. Next, they'll come after any bank accounts correlating to any payments from your content, like PayPal and whatnot. When/if THAT doesn't work, they'll try a legal approach, like suddenly discovering that you haven't paid taxes (which you have for years, but "Whoopsie, clerical error!"), or that you s*xually harassed someone. And when/if none of that works, they'll take the worst-possible approach: take that where you will. What I'm saying is to please be careful! You're a brave person who isn't afraid to speak up, and I applaud you for that. If we had more people like you in this world, things would be soooo much better! Keep speaking truth to power!
Probably, but you could that the reason the USA wants to ban Tiktok was because all Palestine content goes there because Facebook and Instagram ban it. The USA don't want the truth reach the views of their own citizens.
@@dudono1744 It'd be a free USA from a foreign nation's interference with its affairs. If USA is free from Is*ael, maybe you for once will have enough funds to fix the healthcare and the education systems. You know? Is*aelis have free healthcare, and USA pays for it... with Americans tax money.
Because the extremely corrupt Supreme Court agreed with Citizens United and said "yeah sure you know what you're right corporations are the same as actual humans and they deserve the same rights, there's nothing wrong with that."
Hi, I know the answer to this one. So, the right to petition is super important; sending letters to your representatives, donating to campaigns of politicians you like, speaking in town halls, etc. All these are forms of political "speech" and ways we (the citizens) can influence the government to do what we want. And in the US, that freedom of "speech" is EXTREMELY important. But money is the big one. In the past, there was a limit on campaign donations: a maximum of 1000 dollars. But over time, various court cases have eroded those protections against corruptions, and those limits were removed, and political "speech" was then applied to organizations (corporations) as well as people, and THOSE limits were also removed. It's more complicated, and there are a few qualifiers, but basically corporations can now donate whatever they want, and pour money into federal and state politics, because our courts have decided that that is "political speech." The reality of that is that without corporate money, it's basically impossible to get elected, since if you don't take it, your opponent already did, and they'll be able to crush you with ads and attacks and events and organization. So, with only, like, 2 exceptions, every single politician in the US is beholden entirely to corporate interests and money. But ultimately, it all started out as a horrifying perversion of what it means to have the human right to freedom of speech.
Your videos were the first exposure to working-class politics I had at a very confusing time in my life. Several years later, I'm happy to say I'm making a difference in my community in a socialist party. It's real, it's happening, and it's gaining momentum. Come be a part of it folks!
Excellent video, as always JT. The sheer hypocrisy of the US government is genuinely laughable. I am (perhaps foolishly) somewhat optimistic for the future, more and more people are joining organisations in my area. Let's hope something comes of this.
For the record. I found out about the horrors of what's happening to Palestine from Twitch and youtube. Not TikTok. Many of the TT vids are also clips form media like FB, YT, Twitter/X. TYT support went up with their pro stance on Palestine being a victim of genocide.
Second thought is one of the few channels that got me really thinking about the mechanism of capitalism. Now I’m pursuing an MBA in one of the most mission driven schools in the world and I’ve been recommended for sponsorship by a chair for economic peace (their mission is making capitalism less violent). Definitely joining the Patreon, thank you for all your work!
Leaving a comment to say how much respect I have for your integrity, as you continue to do this work and refuse to sell out. It's a rare thing and I'm sure you know the audience appreciates it.
Hey, I'm one of the co-chairs of my local DSA chapter. We've been doing really good work partnering with the other chapters in our state on Palestine work. We managed to get Uncommitted on the ballot in most of the districts in our state (the two we didn't get enough signatures for are mostly Republican) and now we're starting to get people to vote Uncommitted in the primary. As one of the leaders in the chapter I'm pushing to make sure that we don't let Palestine go back to the status quo and that we keep up the work. Also, my family is Israeli and my grandfather was in the Irgun during the Nakba, so things are a little tense in my family at the moment. I definitely invite people to join DSA. The growth of the organization since 2016 has meant there's a big learning curve for all of us, but I think that a lot of us are starting to become seasoned, radical organizers for a socialist future.
I just joined the PSL last week thanks to the videos here and the podcast Upstream. I have my first meeting next week and I'm hella excited to finally meet up with other comrades irl! Being a baby Leftist can make groups intimidating (especially for Neuro-spicy people like myself) but it's bigger than me and so far, people have been really kind. It's not always what we know, but our willingness to learn and to fight that matters. Keep up the good work!
@braedentalkington1893 The best thing that we can do as proletarians is to organize, do Praxis, do Theory! Keep strong comrade! I hope that your meeting goes well. ✊
7:40 Ionic because the movements those young Americans protest in support of are either ignored or, more often, actively supported by American tech companies.
I’ve joined the DSA bc of content creators like you. I’m in the Los Angeles Palestinian solidarity working group and in south central/inglewood branch in the DSA. I am with you comrade. ✊🏽
brother I am inshallah share with ur patrons....and I will tell all my Muslim brothers and sister..to support ur cause. May Allah Bless you!! Love from Bnagladesh
I'd rather have another country spying on me. My own country is more likely to use my data against me in a personal way (like incarceration) than another country is.
Your argument makes sense at beginning but not that much if you think about the fact that most big people on tiktok have also instagram and RU-vid accounts and most viral TikToks are then republished in other platforms so.. closing tiktok would just mean that people would move to other platforms and publish the same contents
@secondthought I need you to continue to be able to make these videos, so I’ve just become a Patron member, which is a first for me. I hope more viewers will do the same, as I think you & your team have done a great job so far, especially in the last few years.
