I don’t think Bruno only sees negative prophecies, because in the song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” Isabela sang, “He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine!” And “He told me that my power would grow like the grapes that thrive on the vines!” Which are both positive. So…yeah.

I think the reason why green is part of both Mirabel and Bruno's outfits is actually because green is usually associated with things like growth, harmony, life, and hope. I think the reason why Mirabels glasses are green is because she was the one to look deeper at other people, see what they were going through, and empathize with them. Her glasses are green because she didn't want things to stay the same, she wanted things to change for the better and move forward. She had hope. Bruno's outfit is green because he could see the future, and while most of his predictions could be interpreted as bad, that was only if the person whose future he predicted didn't do anything about it. His predictions were meant to encourage people to take their future in their own hands and to grow. Unfortunately the towns people seemed to miss that and thought that Bruno was intentionally trying to ruin their future.

that part about the visions become clearer when you think of Isabella and Dolores. Isabella was promised the life of her dremas and instead of just sitting and waiting, she made several sacrifices, trying to be perfect so that she would find this said life. Dolores, on the other hand, was promised to never have the man of her dreams, because he would be betrothed to another. Instead of just watching Isabella fall in love with Mariano, she made up some lies that would likely scare her cousin away, like the confirmed lie about him wanting five babies. In the end of the movies, we learn that she knew Mariano deeply, but never said a word about him to Isabella. That was her trying to keep her less interested as possible in him, so that maybe the future would change - and it did.

What I read is that emeralds are associated with seeing the future in Colombia, so the color green would thus be associated with Bruno.

I think they wear that shade of green is because, as many content creators have pointed out, is that Disney actually has their own shade of green. It's called 'Go away green' and they use that colour to basically hide things in plain sight that they don't want people to point out. And since Bruno is literally hiding in plain sight in all the encanto posters, it makes sense

Bruno doesn't have split personalities, he says "I used to say my gift was 'acting'". He was just being silly. Cinema Therapy has a an actual therapist reviewing him. Abuela Alma just saw the worst in him like everything else. Most of the townspeople just saw the negative instead of seeing that he was just giving a heads up. The fish lady took it as he killed her fish but he knew it was going to die so he wanted to warn her. The other two men, that was just a heads up again lol.

Yeah, I was about to comment that as well. Alters can’t first begin to form past the age of about 6 or so when your personality is supposed to become one (forgive me for not remembering the age, my memory is very bad). Any heavy or repeated trauma before that age causes your personalities to not fuse into one and instead they become alters. One thing that I do want to mention is that you can be unaware of your alters being alters for a very long time, or even be aware of their presence at all. I didn’t know they were alters up until a year ago when I met a fellow system and they literally said to me: ‘Hey, you are very much like us, have you ever looked into DID?’ Which I had, somewhere in my early teens, but at the time I pushed it aside because I didn’t think I met all the criteria + my bio parents said it couldn’t be true and back then I blindly followed whatever they said. I thought they were OCs and later Tulpas for a long time, but them being either didn’t match up. OCs don’t randomly change to something you don’t like them to be and Tulpas have to be consciously created and trained, which hadn’t happened either. Even though I didn’t know who they were for years, I did accept them being a part of me and talked to them because it was just polite to do so and it was nice to never be truly alone. I’m assuming that that’s why I have such a good bond with them. Though I didn’t let them front much in the past (not that I remember anyway), I let them take over whenever they want to now. I’m usually co-con anyway, so I usually know what happened when I’m fronting again. Words cannot express how much I love all of them. Most of them call me their dad, uncle, brother or sibling because of how close we are to each other. Honestly, couldn’t wish for a better family, they did protect me from seeing all of this movie because they knew it would trigger me badly. It still did lead to what one alter told me was an ‘existential crisis’ so it must’ve been really bad. Do names matter? Alma = Soul Bruno = sounds like Brujo, "witch" in Spanish Mirabel = "Mira" means "look" or "to see". Isabela = Is a bella. Is abuela. This is who Abuela was trying to live through vicariously. She wanted to see herself perfect in Isabela. Louisa = Means, "Renowned Warrior"

Dolores means lady of sorrows, could be her feeling sad because Isabella was with the man of her dreams. Agustin's name means 'the exalted one' probably reflecting the Madrigals. Felix name origins mean happy or fortunate, so make sense for his personality.

I think it makes sense Dolores didn’t reveal she knew Bruno’s location, although she does cryptically tell Mirabel that the only ones who care about the cracks in casita are the rats in the walls, a clear reference to Bruno’s activities. Of all the Madrigals Dolores is the one who most understood having a gift she doesn’t want to use, she probably figured Bruno wants to hide because he wants to avoid using his gift and respected his wishes. Considering how she could undoubtedly hear him she could even have been working with him leaving things he needed near the entrance to his hiding spot if she heard him planning aloud to get them. I also think the butterfly motif on Mirabel symbolizes her actual power, the power to alter fate. In this case the fate of the Madrigals was to eventually lose their power and casita, and this was the initial vision Bruno saw. However Mirabel was able to overcome that fate, allowing casita to be restored. We also see this at the end when we see her introducing Dolores to the guy she likes, overturning the fate Bruno had foreseen where Dolores would have to see her true love married to another. It’s also a unique power in that it functions only in concert with Bruno’s power to see the future. This could even be symbolized by her green glasses, glasses help her see, Bruno’s power helps her use her own. It reminds me of the Laplase mail system in Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor, the Laplase mail gives the protagonist’s group an accurate forcast of the day’s events, the protagonist can then choose to interfere with and alter those events.

He never said Dolores true love would marry another, only be betrothed to another. Which he was. And everyone thought that was the life of the others dream was to marry that man. But her true dream was freedom and being herself instead of others version of perfect. Bruno himself did say he didn’t see everything only parts.

I know many will disagree but I believe Maribel is the daughter of Bruno. If you think about it, those two look more alike than Maribel and Juliette/Augustin. Yeah, Maribel has Augustin's glasses but maybe it was an old pair that he had to avoid suspicion. I believe Bruno had Maribel with an unknown woman but she either died or left, making Bruno depressed and unable to care of his daughter. So he gave her to his sister and her husband, and that's why Maribel is looked down upon. They take out their frustrations out on Bruno through Maribel. And in the end, when posing for the final picture, they are seen posing together in a common father/daughter pose. Isabella and Louisa were next to their parents, as were Deloris, Camello, and Antonio. Stands to reason that Maribel would have stood near her parents but Casita put her next to Bruno. Again, this is just my theory.

I would love to see Camilo's room, and Dolores' room. I also really wanna see Camilo's true form, if his normal form isn't. And I've also seen theories that green represents sight, like Bruno can see the future, and Mirabel has green glasses, and she seems to see much deeper into things and people than a lot of characters.

I think he can only see the bad news because he is so afraid to see somthing really bad like someone death or something like this but mirabel helped him to see the butterfly and the hug vision wasn't as bad (the fact that mirabel and isabella hate each other doesn't make it a bad vision) maybe if disney makes an ENCATO 2 we will see that with the help of his family he will be able to control his powers

Another thought. A lot of you are saying he is wrong because he gave Isabella a positive vision, but from her point of view it wasn’t positive and it wasn’t what she wanted, it’s what Abuela wanted for her and she played along

Isabela says that Bruno told her "the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine. He told me that my powers would grow like the grapes that thrive on the vine". When she thought that the marriage with her fiancé was the prophesy, she wasn't happy about it, but was trying to pretend to be, since she felt that that was the intention of the prophesy given, and that being fiancés was the promise. I think the prophesy given to Isabela was supposed to be about her being allowed imperfections and freedom of creativity, and the great lengths her gift would go when it isn't confined to perfection. As for Dolores, her prophesy was that "the man of my dreams would be just out of reach, betrothed to another". Which, technically true, if his betrothal to Isabela was as far as the vision stretched. But at the same time, the prophesy was given 10 years ago, and is nearly completely up to the interpretation of Bruno and whoever else viewed the related vision/tablet.

As for Delores, nobody understands Delores because Mirabel doesn't and she's the protagonist. Delores can hear anything in the Encanto and has been able to since about age 4. As a young girl, she had to learn what to share and what to keep to herself. During the movie, she exclusively only uses her gift when Abuella asks her to. In fact, Delores is trapped in the same kind of perfection as Isabella and Lusia. Can you imagine the strife Delores could create by overhearing people's true feelings? I think she does a pretty good job of handling all the stuff she's heard. True, she told her family during the Guzman's proposal dinner about Mirabel and the final vision, but both sides of the family are insular. With the exception of Mirabel and Antonio who room together, both sides of the family tend to confide in just their side. Peppa's family believes Bruno tried to ruin her wedding. And abandoned them because he didn't care about them anymore. That's why they don't talk about Bruno. And that's why Delores never told anyone she heard him in the walls. No one was looking for him. Her family didn't want to discuss him. Her mother would get so stressed when his name was mentioned she would create a mini-storm with thunder and lightning. Since Camilo didn't recognize him at the end, he probably heard stories from his family and the townsfolk about how Bruno was before he disappeared. So it makes sense Delores didn't share what she knew/heard because nobody wanted to know about Bruno. He was the family pariah. And the only fortune he ever gave her was the absolute worst about meeting the man of her dreams but losing him to another woman. And when the Guzmans came to call on Isabella, Delores understood what Bruno meant. But she didn't complain, she was still acting "perfect" for Abuella.

I tend to think that the townspeople's predictions were just more mischief and that anyone could have made those predictions. Goldfish die easily. The Padre probably had a receding hairline. The guy with the gut probably had bad habits. And, there were probably plenty of good predictions, too, but since Bruno disappeared and seemed to have abandoned them, it was easier to remember just the bad ones. Sometimes it's easier to be mad at someone instead of missing them.

The Sand Represents multiple things: sand through an hourglass represents the passage of time; sand is created by the wearing down, breaking apart and refining, sand was a border either to protect or limit. Sand meted under fire creates glass ( green visions?)

Per the "only able to see negative things" is absolutely incorrect. We know this for a fact already. "He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and some day be mine. He told me that my power would grow like the grapes that thrive on the vine" Isabella's verse. So why are most of the things seen negative? Honestly. They're not all negative. However, when someone predicts something good and it happens, it's remembered for a bit but eventually it just becomes a "Well, it was fated and it was good" But when it's something bad, and it's said, people look for something other than themselves to blame. So you could tell someone "You're going to be happily wed, but you're also going to get fat" you might find someone good and be all happy, but you don't want to know that you're getting fat because you're over eating/not exercising right, instead you remember that it was predicted and you blame the one that predicted it. Bruno's 'gift' essentially let everyone blame him anytime he saw something negative while they could easily forget the good things he predicted because then how could they really blame him for things being bad? He was doomed from the moment he had that gift to be blamed for anything bad. Tell them? It's your fault it happened Don't tell them? You should have warned them then they could have taken steps to prevent it. Dammned if you do and dammned if you don't. He truly is a tragic character in that sense.

But I wonder if the "life of her dreams" was the life Isabela really longed for or if that verse was just continuing her lie, aka the "life of her dreams" was the fake one? Her verse could've gone either way in terms of good or bad prophecy , but in context of the song, I like to think it was all a lie to fool the audience further.

Oh. You know I had a narcissist mother and my sisters were her flying monkeys. I had a pretty rough childhood with her and moved out as soon as I could, shattering all of her plans with me. It made her mad. Like really mad. She disowned me and started to tell lies about me to people around her to make her feel good and look good, and a few years later I realized my sisters somehow internalized her lies and started to act like they really remember me doing those things. I noticed early in the movie that Abuela is on the narcissist side. It makes sense. Bruno disappeared she was disappointed in him, they internalized the thought he was the bad guy and started to only remember him doing the bad things. Because it's easier to make him a bad guy than face the fact they managed to chase him away.

So there was a lot of good points. and i just noticed something at 3:22 when Delores basically was talking about how she could still hear about bruno. that there is a shadow cloaked figure of bruno upstairs on the upper right sneaking. I never noticed it til this video no matter how many times i watched this movie. though i would bet a lot of people arleady noticed it.

I don't think Ernando and Jorge are split personalities of Bruno. They are characters that he created. And he even states this right after he plays Ernando, saying this: "Yeah. It's me. I always said that my real gift is acting." So, on that note, I believe Bruno is just acting and not changing personalities.

It all comes down to the way you look at it because at the end of Encanto Mirabel saved the miracle. That explains why Bruno couldn't see her future clearly as one or the other. At the end of the day Mirabel decided to choose to help fix the mistake(s) with the house and the family in general. Proving Bruno doesn't have control over anyone's future. As for the fish dying in the song goldfish don't live for very long even if you do feed them correctly and do everything the right way.

People have a tendency to link events in their lives with the prediction after the fact. However, a lot of Bruno's predictions are mere observations of the things likely to happen: a goldfish has a short life span; if a man eats a lot, he would likely grow a gut; a man with thinning hair will likely become bold. If a bride (with an unstable temperament, mind you!) notice some kind of imperfection (as he noticed, she was sweating), she will get upset and the weather will go bad. Like a good uncle, he encouraged his niece to keep growing her gift - and it works. because everyone knew to trust Bruno's "predictions". And his "prediction" about Doloreses misfortune with her love life is not come through, since she ends up with the man of her dreams, and Isabel is not getting married either - so another prediction is wrong. The only true prediction is about Mirabel.

There are actually subtle hint about Deloris hearing Bruno in the walls. When she tells Mirabel that "No one is worried about the magic except you. ...And the rats talking in the walls." The "Rats talking in the walls" are most likely Bruno. In the song "We don't talk about Bruno" Deloris says she can "always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling." This is said in present tense rather than past tense. Then she says, "Do you understand?" I feel like she was trying to hint to Mirabel that Bruno was still around, just hiding. She may have even mentioned hearing him to others in the family and they didn't believe her and told her it was just rats. Or perhaps she was trying to protect him by keeping his secret.

I noticed that his eyes turn green whenever he uses his powers this could be referencing seeing out of jaded lenses which means that you are being a pessimist.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this so-I WILL the scene with the rats where the rat runs out of the card with the girl and the man and then another rat appears in the girl card represents Isabella not marrying Mariano and then Dolores coming into the picture representing the other rat that appears in the card I know this is a terrible explanation but I don’t know how else to explain it 😑

Bruno did NOT have a split personality. Bruno himself explains that he is just acting the very first time we're introduced to hernando he immediately says afterwards "actually it's just me. I always said that my 'real gift' was acting". So no split personality there. It's simply a role he slips into.

I think everyone else is older in the doors because Abuela wanted them to grow up faster than they should. Mirabel's the new miracle, and since Antonio's younger than her, he signifies a "new generation" of sorts for the magic. Mirabel doesn't want him to grow up so fast, she sees him for himself, which is a child and she doesn't want him to waste away his childhood. His door lets him be who he is. That's what I think Idk if that makes sense lol srry

I definitely can relate. My grandma, grandpa, mom, daughter, and I all live together. My mom's got scitsophrenia my grandpa has a brain injury from a car accident. My grandma is the head of house and guardian to both my mom and my daughter . Some years ago when I didn't live with my family I met a man who turned out to be a felon and abusive. He threatened that if I left that he would do terrorist activity knowing police can't really do much unless a crime is already committed I stuck around in order to stop him from doing that. And did some not so great things while I was with him. When my daughter was born the government stepped in giving my grandma her great grandma guardianship. I was told I could move in with them If I left him which I did. I have ptsd anxiety and bipolar from the abuse so I mostly hide away in my room all day to stay away from my argumentative family and my family don't really trust me and are argumentative towards me because they blame me for staying with the abuser as long as I did and dragging them into everything. The only one I really get along with is my daughter who I have done nothing wrong towards and who doesn't blame me for everything. We get along well and are each other's emotional support. If I come out of my room I'm nagged at and If I stand up for myself I'm the bad guy for that to. Don't get me wrong they are not abusive they do not harm me but rather simply acting like I'm a child who has done something wrong all the time

It's not necessarily that Bruno was the negative one...it's how people took and responded to what he told them. The last prophecy shows that it could be seen in two different ways. But I do believe he still would be the black sheep because of the mysticism of his gift. I find in life, tho they ask about it -people really don't want to know the future.

☝i dont think hernando and jorge were "split personalities," he was just acting/joking. i mean he even says so immediately afterward. personally i LOVE his acting, i almost rofled at this scene before it cut to the next... if there were a miniseries about "them" doing things for the town and family i might never stop cackling XD time to give antonio "The Talk"? have hernando do it hes not scared. bruno as jorge arguing about construction with camilo as bruno? i mean the possibilities are endless 🤣

I think you're forgetting a few things. 1: not all futures was bad. In fact one was seen as nothing but good. 2: the reason he went into hiding was because he knew the family wouldn't see the good side, and only saw the destruction. If I remember right, he stayed in the walls to try and keep the home together. He even said it himself. They went to him for advice. But when he saw the destruction that was to come. He panicked. To quote a famous line "If all they're going to see is a monster. Why bother?"

I think bruno negative mindset affected his visions but I think he got that because of his mom PTSD she found out about his future sight and probably went to him for every worry and unknowingly set it into his mind that that just what his powers are for like Isabella only using her powers for perfect pretty flowers when her power is so much more

I also saw in the film when abuela walks past everyone in front of there doors you can clearly see that they have fear in there faces they're all afraid of abuela except for Mirabel there's some kind of control from abuela to her children look at Mirabel's doorknob at the beginning & it's at the end of the film to meaning she has the door to the whole casita when abuela dies Mirabel is next in line to take abuela' s place, casita has chosen Mirabel seeing bruno's little table & chair made me cry, abuela only saw the worst in Bruno he left because of abuela not Mirabel she's strong she stands up for herself against abuela I also noticed that even though Mirabel was not with Bruno behind the wall technically she was constantly rejected by abuela & she saw the worst in her the same way she treated bruno, I still think abuela is the villain in the film Mirabel's gift I think is that she can interprete bruno's visions the old casita had to fall for the new casita to be built by the whole family that was the only way the magic would return I felt for Bruno & Mirabel abuela only wanted the magic gifts the doors that would cause division in any family the thing is you can't pick & choose who you want in your family everyone should be treated equally with no favourites Isabella was pressured & controlled by abuela to constantly create beautiful flowers from a child to adulthood but that's not the real Isabella with Mirabel she's able to express in her song how she's sick of pretty flowers I don't blame her, abuela also controlled luisa to from a child it's a form of abuse, & bullying Isabella & Mirabel to me she is the bully in the family.

I have to disagree with you on Bruno. Bruno was surrounded by everyone blaming him for the misfortunate that found them. From the age of 5(?) up. The issue isn't that he was shy or didn't know what to say. It was that he thought they were right that he was one causing it. Cause honestly looks at the first seeings he did. A random woman (my opinion his first love), some random man who owns a general store (like candy, which a seeing might be rewarded with candy), and the priest (someone who you tell your darkest secrets to). Bruno internalized all that was said. This is pointed to in that Abula had to ask Bruno to do a seeing. Which that may seem like nothing, but he had to be asked to use his gift. No one in the family is asked directly to use their gift with the exception of roundabout way at the breakfast table. He was a man that saw his gift as a curse, which he grew into seeing himself as a curse. Because to everyone he was the bringer of misfortune, which he turned to see himself as he grew up to the point of not even being romantic with anyone. He saw himself as the burden of the family. Why would he have brought that on the women he loved.

I think if we accept the symbolism that the grandma was fracturing the family with her expectations and such and thus the casita was physically fracturing apart. Then i think it turns our heads towards Bruno and what him patching the foundation from the shadows means. If we convert the literal act to a less literal one then it says that he has been the one holding the family together for years. Which certainly means "doing what he thinks is best for the family as a whole"but might also extend to individuals. Maybe when his family is sad and hurting he finds ways to comfort them without revealing himself. Solving problems or leaving gifts or clues.

I don't think that Bruno saw just negative things, but some of the things that he saw were negative things that might would happen if people didn't change how they did things. Which is why people began to see him negatively because they refused to change their ways, therefore they brought the negative visions into reality by their own hands. Just like his vision of Mirabel, it was a vision of what would happen if Grandma didn't change how she saw the gifts they received.

I just thought of this: Bruno's power of seeing the future is actually kind of correct? So instead of seeing what would actually happen, he saw in the the things that won't happen in the future, meaning he just has to tell people the exact opposite of what he saw Also there are reasons like, the fish lady said her fish would be dead because Bruno said (the exact opposite happened) the man said he would be bald because Bruno said (the exact opposite) the house would be in danger (the exact opposite, but since Bruno smashed it it got replaced) Edit: I realized that it shows everything correctly sorry
