I find it both hilarious and heart warming how you store your stuff. I am in an urban environment but I have been gradually switching over all my storage to organised, pest free, water tight containers. Its easy to move, reliable to store and you know what you have.

You should look into buying jet A instead of kerosene. It’s cheaper, go to Airnav and look at your local airports. It normally runs $5-8 a gallon for non-bulk purchase. It’s basically ultra filtered kerosene.

I know this is an old video, but I figured I'd say something about the sponsor, Bespoke Post. I had their boxes from Oct. '20- April '21. First off, the quality of the stuff I got, wasn't by any means, bad. I also liked that I could text with Customer Service, and they were fairly quick and to the point, the few times I did deal with them... However, it always felt lacking. My first big disappointment was with the Barebones hatchet I added to a box. $60 for a hatchet, that honestly has a hard time putting up with just menial yard work, in a suburban home, and a head that seemingly never wants to stay snug, and a handle that is just too thin. Was it a bad item? Not really. Did it feel like it was worth $60? Not really. Which is kind of how I felt about the boxes I received, in general. Everything felt 'meh'. I never received any box as nice as seen in this video, cause obviously, I wasn't sponsored, but this kind of gives a false perception of what you get in a single box. Point is, Bespoke isn't bad, but I kind of felt like I was shopping in a hipster store; stuff that looks cool, but is overpriced and meh in quality.

Cody, I'm far from being a safety Sally but it's not a good idea to store all of that fuel inside your shop. I would check with your insurance provider to see if you would even be covered in the event of a fire. Same goes for your outside diesel and gas storage. I would set up a fueling area safe distance from your building. Look at getting one of those 8×8 shipping containers and place it a safe distance from your fueling station and keep your 5 gallon cans in it. That way you have 2 different locations for emergency fuel and in case of an accidental fire you won't loose all of it or any of your buildings and equipment
@Knallteute
@Knallteute 3 года назад
Also those cans aren't really fume save so you can create a easy expanding atmosphere if you know what I mean.
@knurlgnar24
@knurlgnar24 3 года назад
Never ask an insurance provider such questions or you're inviting trouble. These are government approved gasoline containers stored in a shop - it will be fine. Storing it in a shipping container will both age the fuel faster due to heat and be a huge pain. People seem to think gasoline will burst into flames spontaneously - it's actually a very picky fuel and only burns in a narrow range of fuel air mixture. Even if one of those containers broke a weld and leaked all 5 gallons onto the floor overnight there would be basically no fire risk. What he is doing in the video is the right way to do it.

Wow, kerosene is expensive over there! We pay about $4 a gallon in Tokyo, it is still used a lot for heat here. I use a similar (not as nice) as the storage containers for tools etc that travel to job sites. One thing that I do is take a can of spray paint and spray some color on the box and the lid. If you label the lids then they get mixed up onto the wrong box it's a problem. The added benefit is I can say to someone "Grabe the box with the red paint on it" or "Grab the box with the blue and green stripes" this really helps. Cheers!

I love the lantern tip. I've used a version of that with a gallon plastic milk jug as an anchor lantern on my sailboat. I could always discern my vessel from others in a crowded anchorage. The textured plastic on the milk jug worked well to bounce the light around and illuminate. Same concept as the Lucie Light, but the milk jug works really well for that. I was using a strip of 12 volt led's dropped inside the jug.

Fork Lift Tip! We use our forklift for maybe 5 minutes once a week, but when we need it, we really need it. Our maintenance company found our oil was always milky (water logged) and recommended when we start it, we let it warm all the way up to combat the condensation that builds inside a cold motor. Ever since we started letting it run for at least 10 mins after we use it, we have not had an issue.
