The REAL REASON Tyrael Can't Help Fight Diablo? Diablo 2 Resurrected Explained 

Let's just take a moment to appreciate that Tyrael was always somewhat distorted and shimmering in the D2 cinematics, despite other beings appearing clear and sharp. It really reinforced the lore that the angels were beings made of light and sound rather than flesh and blood, and gave him an otherworldly aura. Contrast that with the appearance of the angels in D3, where they mostly appear as clearly defined corporeal beings with a sense of weight to them.

I can't be the only one that wants a Diablo: animated series, the Eternal Conflict.

So the Prime Evils didn't kill Tyrael to keep it low, but In the end (of LoD) Tyrael sacrificed his own embodiment when he destroyed the corrupted Worldstone. It took 20 years or so for him to rematerialize a new body just to be 'judged' by Imperius in D3 and Tyrael forsook his immortality that day.

The more I think about the logistics of Marius post-tomb, the more I feel like that's one long and deep plothole. Jared forbade ships out of Lut Gholein until we finished Act 2. Our ship to the Docks of Kurast was possibly the first one from Lut Gholein to Kurast since the troubles began in the desert. The Dark Wanderer himself was just leaving the docks the same time we did, so he too probably arrived via boat... And Marius was close enough behind him to catch the three brothers reuniting. Did... we all come on the same boat or something? Also, if Tyrial was expecting us earlier, he knew the player character was inbound when he confronted the Dark Wanderer in the Tomb. He could have told Marius to seek the Champion. Instead of sending him to Hell.

Well, the case is simpler: loot and xp. Lol. I don't need any archangel wanting to steal the prominence and rewards of adventures even if the hero fails or dies in his/her own journey.

I was about to sleep, but then I saw this in my home page 😂 I don't know how true this is, but the Angels might know if an Angel dies (especially one of Tyrael's caliber). IIRC their essence returns to the Crystal Arch, to be remade into a new Angel. All out war would be disadvantageous to Hell's divided forces, even without an Archangel of Justice. Good stuff as always.

I love when scene of Threal saying whatever the words are , wish it had a translation, then throws the sword into the world stone. I love how beautiful his wings are but I wish they would have left them more full like they were in the original D2

I wonder what exactly Marius' mission would have been if he'd attempted it, Tyrael's instructions were kind of vague and rushed. Did he have to take the soulstone all the way to the hell forge, battling hell's forces himself? Seems unlikely to work out at all. If the Act 3 portal leads directly to the refuge with Tyrael and Jamella, maybe his mission would have been complete then, and that's as far as he needed to get it. At the point, maybe the passage to Kurast was still open and the people there uncorrupted. I always felt that Marius chickened out because he'd seen the forces of hell and was too scared to make the journey alone. What if his fears were all non-issues at the time, and he'd have been perfectly safe? How far did he make it before checking himself into the asylum or wherever Baal finds him?

Kadala saw this as a wee lass and just fell in love with the color of these blood shards.

In a way, I dont consider him choosing or trusting Marius, it was a decision of need, he had to hold off baal if possible, and if he had kept the soul stone, when baal won, he would of taken it. By giving it to Marius, it would prevent this, in the event he loses, which he clearly does. He told him what to do with it, but he didnt say he and only he could do it.

Are angels similar to demons where they "respawn" after they are killed? If so, it makes more sense to bind Tyrael instead of killing him - similar to why many tried to bind the Prime Evils to the soulstones.

I've never fully understood the cinematic where Marius pulls out the soul stone. Is that Baal imprisoned there? For some reason I thought it was Tal Rasha but that also makes no sense to me. Can somebody please explain?

What I still don't understand is why Tyrael didn't kill Marius. Tyrael showed that he had the power to stop, or greatly slow time, and jump instantly to Marius and pick him up...soooo why didn't he just do that when he touched the stone toss him into the lava and be like "sorry I shouldn't kill humans but you were about to destroy the entire world so" then bamf back over and stab Diablo game ends. Instead he gets destroyed by Diablo and Baal in extremely weakened forms then proceeds to do nothing for the rest of the game yet everyone revers him as one of the most amazing characters in Dibalo. Tyrael is the Boba Fett of Diablo 😂

I really hope the remaster does the pre-Act 3 cinematic justice (lol). I always wondered how the Dark Wanderer could hold Tyrael off for so long, and how/why Tyrael loses his sword isn't well-shown in the original...

My assumption was that he barely had enough power to maintain his physical form after his imprisonment. He was basically made of glass at the time that you meet him in Diablo 2, able to guide you, but too fragile to be of any use in an actual fight. I assume that they bound him instead of killing him because killing him would just mean that another angel would be born to replace him. Binding him denied heaven one of its soldiers until he could be freed. Also, pettiness.

And of course, in D3 Act 3, he boasts about missing the feeling of battle, etc., however, when he joins as a temporary follower, he can't even kill little Fallen mobs when using his 'badass' sword. It's so funny to watch him struggle to against such weak creatures, while the PC mows them down with ease. He is markedly weak compared to Imperious, at least in D3.

But why didn’t Tyreal just kill the dark wanderer with the same level of ferocity we saw him fight with during the eternal conflict? Tentacle wings, flight, a powerful sword, and eons of combat experience and all he can do is toss the wanderer around a bit and outright miss hitting him with the sword.

This is probably me being an idiot, but what good would it of been if Marius had gone through the hell gate an destroyed Baals soulstone? without Baal actually being defeated an then his soul imprisoned in his soulstone it would of been little more then an important shiny gem? An Baal would of been able to return as the thing that would imprison his soul would of already been destroyed.

i mean, to be honest, the anwser "why did tyrael entrust marius with baals soulstone" is pretty obvious. while he as an archangel was undoubdetly powerful even with his limited time on sanctuary, and both diablo and baal were still weakened (diablo still having to use the body of the wanderer rather than his own true form, baal having been just released and probably also weakened from his very long fight with tal rasha) it was still 2 vs 1. realistically even 2 rather weak people can take out 1 pretty strong fighter, if they've got the right tactics, and i'd be suprised if two of the literal prime evils did not have a vast, almost infinite knowledge of combat tactics. tyrael obviously would have realized that immediately due to his own almost limitless knowledge so then, with no one else around except marius, there simply was no other way for him than to entrust marius with the stone and hope he would be strong enough to actually do as he was told.

Both Diablo and Baal were in weak physical states.You even said it yourself “Diablo,in his weakened wanderer state”.I think your overthinking things.Baal,with Tal Rasha’s entombed body gripped tyreal right before the scene ended,with the scene also ending with baal shooting the other tentacles at tyreal.It’s cleared that he subdued tyreal with the tentacles and binded him to the stone with Magic.Baal,also is a fantastic user of magic.On top of things,believing 5% power Diablo and 5% power baal could have outright killed 100% power tyreal,even with tyreal being restrained is unreasonable.

If Tyrael helped fighting Diablo, the battle would be way too easy.

Humans were offspring of the nephylim which is still OP AF. -Angels couldn't beat Diablo and his boys in millenniums, but supposedly three randys managed to sterilise demons FoB and make a fortune out of it in process (as if they were some pest control). -As far as I know the only time reds managed to score pure win on humans was when they captured a bunch of peasants by surprise and the townsfolk were just to busy to assist the militia. -When a tanned barely dressed girl with a stick can tank a couple of fireballs in the face and then take out raiding party and nulify the damage dealt by them by drinking some strong grass soup, I too would run away from that chick's personal vendetta on me. -At worst bunch of goi managed to cleanse a fortress with full garrison and take out a top tier demon general... On the demon's land! -The little guy in the intro was not running for his life. He was in a hurry to get the cups and plates back in kitchen and kick the demons out of his tavern with a broom or something. Pretty sure he hit his head when he fell and died of suffocating or something. -Creatures that chad enough to not even think about demonic beasts every 30 meters outside the secure camps are just scairy to him at this point. To my understanding, if people would come up with reliable way to travel between worlds, they would crusade both heaven and hell along with vast diversification of both world's gene pools (mongol style). If I were Tyrael, I too would both travel and act in secret. Other less polite people could catch me and use as some talkative lantern or something. It's much easier to ask weightlifter with an axe to kill my enemy to death rather then killing the horned bag youself. Pretty sure that world stone was made out of some U235 analogie or something and poor T destroyed it so that it would not fall in humanity's hands.
