@@MrDees_musicI didnt watch the video before I asked. But there are a ton of gear pushers here on RU-vid trying to make people think they need to upgrade every time something comes out. I have an HX Stomp XL, gonna be sad when Line 6 starts the next gen and stops updating lol
Think long and hard about this and RU-vidrs in general as influencers. There’s been a bunch of videos put out where the thumbnails all paint a picture of helix floor being obsolete, those who were big proponents of a dual DSP helix however have changed their needs, can run with a hxstomp, hxstomp xl which is half the power and the EXACT SAME FREAKING HARDWARE. Really this is pure madness logically.
Nice fly rig! Mine is a Friedman irx, Eventide h90, and an expression pedal. The H90 can be routed before and after the preamp for lots of flexibility.
My serial number is in the 500's. I've owned it since the launch and Love it! Every update I feel like I've gotten thousands of dollars of free new gear. I would love the ability to import plug in and captured amps. When you add some of the UA and Strymer pedals into your chain, it blows you mind. The fact that a decade later, this device is competitive with all of the new toys, makes you know how amazing it is!
Man.. it's funny you mention the 11 rack. I am currently considering getting that or a helix. The 11 rack is such a great value. I think you talked me into that.
Ran a Helix for over 7 years, and just moved to a Fractal FM9. The Helix was great, and stil is, but the DSP limits were becoming an issue and I was pushing the limits on what it could do in my use. The FM9 is a bit harder to navigate but it is a whole 'nother level and is awesome. I could have gotten on with the Helix for another year or so, but it wasnt inspiring me as much as the FM9 is now. With that at said, I will revist the next generation of Helix if/when it comes out.
Yes. I have not played my Helix as long as you had...but, the few weeks experience with this Helix is not really as good as what I hoped. I've been playing guitar since the 80s when we all wanted the same real tube amp (either a half-stack or full-stack) with the same analog pedals. Lol. Through the 90s and current years, I still wanting that real feel/sound/soul/thick/fat/growl and "bam" tone thing like my real amp. Then, I gave up... I told a few people that I have no choice but buying another heavy real 125Ib amp. Then, one day, I browsed a few videos on Fractal. It just wasn't that "OMG" as well. Then, I heard one guy's vid showing his modified/adjusted Marshall/brit tones and it just blown me away. Today, I am a Fractal-man. Lol.
@@heut4384 Yeah, but it take awhile to get your tones dialed in with these units still. The FA is easier to get tones you like than the Helix but still is a process.
Been rocking with the Helix LT for the last 8 years and it's great but Stomp XL seems to be all that I really need with nothing more, but nothing less either. Hope to make the switch soon.
If "everybody" are selling their Helix, "everybody" must be buying them. Surely there might be better things, but it will remain as an outstanding device for a while.
As a Da Vinci Resolve user, I approve of this editing 🤣 To your point, I think it's just become "de rigeur" to dunk on Line 6 in general. But I have used a Vetta for almost 20 years and nobody complains about the sound. I also used Pod Farm 2 for recording, and got a lot of compliments on the sound... until people knew what I used. People have a habit of "listening with their eyes". Also, the Helix also gets a bonus in its massive discount to Native software, which is great.
Caught be red handed 🤣🤣🤣🤣, I saw a dude at NAMM with a Digitech pedal from the 2000s and he sounded super great … Gear is pointless if you can’t get the best out of it ! Guitarists will y anything new and shiny lol (myself included) The Hx stomp and Helix native does it for me 💯
It seems like "the Helix is finished" videos are being made by every man and his dog these days. I've got a Helix floor, a Catalyst and a HX1, that's all good enough for me.
It sure does seem this way, and it seems like utter nonsense no ? This video is well balanced. If you’ve been on a huge buying spree through the pandemic and you have to raise money again quick, sure you will maybe let go of your helix floor and go with a hybrid board, but this will usually involve an hxstomp and another 1000 in pedals and cables and supplies. It really seems that people are just mindbent on buying the next thing, rather than actually using what they have to its full potential. You’ll pay less for a floor and it’ll do three times as much easily having all the io, the scribble strips, and double the processing power of a stomp or stomp xl. Perhaps the vids should more realistically reflect that folks overbought for their personal uses, rather than continually flop around driving demand for a shiny new box when what they have hasn’t even been remotely tapped. I’ve been down both paths , have 2 stomps, loads of pedals and a floor, and it is the floor with 7 x127 presets and next to no setup time that would come out for a local gig, or act as the central hub in my home studio Iinking all the other gear together, This is what it was designed to do in the first place. 😂 You ask me this is for the most part clickbait after clickbait after clickbait on most of these other channels .
Once Line 6 announces that they are suspending updates and support for the Helix, I probably will look for another modeller or the "helix 2". Until then, I'm looking forward to how else the updates will make the Helix much better.
The Helix is gonna be here for a while. It's still at the top of the game along with the others. I think a lot of people's complaints are about the size of it, which honestly isnt that big of a deal to me. I just got mines last Summer when i decided that i wanted a hardware multi-FX unit after playing through Guitar Rig 5 for some years.
With Yamaha buying out Line6, I don't see them shutting it down any time soon. It's more known in the guitar community as "guitar" gear. Some people think Yamaha is only pianos, or sound gear. It's not. Most of my guitar gear is Yamaha. But "trenders" might not look deep enough into it. They see Line 6 and say "Yeah, I need that because......"
Yamaha has one of the best feeling and sounding modelers that comes with its own power and foot switch with several fx that everyone overlooks. And you can get the double modeler. It has clean, ss, crunch, high gain and another I can’t remember. $800 new. I love my Amps and one great pedal. It took forever to get these amps where I could afford them and where I felt I deserved them re playing well enough and I want to use them. However, I’m under control now I was a huge pedal addict and gear addict. I had the Kemper hated the feel the sound was just ok. It needed external pedals for feel and the ui was too tiny the rig manager was a nightmare. I do not want that many options. I end up using the same 4 sounds. Same with the helix. Too many options and tweaking no playing. Was mediocre feeling and sounding when compared to a great amp. Both did not take pedals as good as an amp. I have the quad and the feel is there the sound is good the UI is the best on the market. However, still playing my amps the most. But quad is top notch imo. Way better than the Kemper and helix. Sorry it’s just my opinion. I had that hd300 and literally they came out with the helix months later. The hd300 also had volume issues.
My Helix will stay with me. I like to go out stereo to the house and then route my in ear monitor Behringer P16 back into the Helix and blend it in so the house only hears me, but I hear both me and the other musicians. I do that because I like the sound of my in ears plugged in to the headphone jack of the Helix. I just turn my channel down on the Behringer P16 so I don't feed back into myself. Plus all the other stuff. The Helix is a problem solver and a Swiss army knife.
You said the quad had issues and didn’t keep promises and noise. Their promises of a not needed pc is here and plug ins which don’t sound as good as the actual quad captures are now here. They take care of shipping both ways if u have an issue and even if it’s used. Who does that? Nobody. I have zero noise. I bought a back up but I don’t need two so will be selling it. I just don’t want to end up having to teach someone how to use it like I did the Kemper. That is not part of the deal and I got sucked into it.
I don't even see one single recent video of anyone selling their Helix. Can you spell myth? All I see is this and John Nathan Cordy's video speculating about why people would sell it.
@@MrDees_music Live by the clickbait, die by the clickbait. I didn't make this title, I just responded to it. If the title is misleading, that's not on me.
@@MrDees_music well that's one anecdote. The plural of which is not "evidence". I'm genuinely interested in seeing a lot of helixes for sale as I want to possibly add a stomp for more DSP, though, like you, I quite enjoy helix native. I could also put like a minicomputer on or even under the pedalboard and adress it with USB maybe
@@pipelineaudio Hopefully you find one for cheap , I’m using the heck out of the Helix native and the Hx stomp . They get the job done and the helix was just in the garage … I had to let go
