Stig is a lovely bloke. Back in 96 I was marshalling at Rally Australia. He broke down at my marhsalling point and I had the pleasure of driving him and his co-driver back to the stage start in my 94 Celica GT-Four Group A Rallye. He and his co-driver were worried about putting mud in my car, but I couldn't have given two hoots! One of my fondest motorsport memories. Looks like a great event.

I saw Stig many years ago at the Autosport show at the NEC,He limped over to a Quattro S1 and absolutely rang it's neck in the arena,It was spectacular,the noise inside a big shed was mind blowing...both Legends.

Lovely jubbly. A mate of mine navigates for a lad who ran an ex-works Escort WRC in the North West. He ended up selling that car to Ken Block after Ken rolled his first Escort WRC and it burnt to the ground. Unfortunately Ken's gone, but his daughter Lia is pretty handy behind the wheel. She's driven the Hoonicorn quite a bit. It's got 1400bhp, and she's still only 17. She'll be out in the Escort at some point. There isn't much which can match the sound of the UR Quattro or the 6R4. The V8 Firenza makes a lovely sound too. I think I saw the original Stig down at Goodwood FOS one year. Nice to see the old Group 4 / Group B cars being given a bit of exercise still.

Absolute legend my dad was lucky enough to see stig Blomquist in action in and around the 80s I think it was the old RAC rally and my dad said he can remember seeing the brakes glowing through the wheels ,wish I was around in the group b days ,great video mate 👌👍

Since Stig Blomqvist arrived at Audi at the end of 1982, he adapted to the car perfectly. The main reason, apart from the fact that he was a top driver with already accumulated experience, was that from the beginning he was used to driving Saabs with front-wheel drive and also with turbo engines. These cars with a clear understeering tendency helped him a lot to understand the way of driving the Audi quattro, which, although it is all-wheel drive, has a clearly understeering behavior with the engine hanging from the front axle, which inevitably means that with so much weight in front the engine does not transmit more. torque to the rear axle than to the front, which is what the car would have needed to be more agile in corner.

1985 my Auntie bought a Celica GT-Four, with it she was offered a Test Drive in a Rally Car. Of course she took it but there waa another surprise The Stig was the Driver and she lived every minute of it! Absolute Legend😊🤩

Had the pleasure of meeting Mr B at Dunton a number of years ago. Ford were developing a hill climb car with him. He took the time to chat. After he left us the guy taking us round said he had been out with him in the said car. Opposite lock,, 100mph plus, apparently with the car of course fully under control. The maestro was giving further development feedback in a calm considered voice as if he was sitting by the fire drinking tea. A breed apart!

That Street Quattro was in such beautiful condition, they were lovely cars, I had the great fortune to work for a dealer back in '87 and we had one of those, I got to drive it and boy was it a monster. Fun though. The funny thing was that while Austin (Leyland) were making a big noise about the Montego having a digital dashboard, so did the Quattro. And it was better. At least that's my opinion. Thanks so much for sharing this, it's lovely to see those old rally cars running, and the sound, so much better than today's cars.

I was there. I can tell you I had a shower anyway in terms of rain lol. Tbh the mk2 escorts put on a show but most others were on a Sunday drive. The crowd's weren't allowed close to the action the fire works were laughable but had a good day.

That sound effect you use is from GTA, then the player dies. that a "negative" sound effect. as soon you hear it, you assume something bad happened in the video :P

I have seen. The craziest one is the Toyota Starlet twin engine of Roger Haland. 900hp, 2 engines, 1 turbo and 1 throttle body.

Sandro Munari won the 1972 Monte Carlo rally, helping Lancia to win the International Rally Championship in 1972, the year before the WRC began

Munari- Il Drago. His exploits in the Fulvia that year gave the factory a massive boost such was the demand for the Fulvia. He was pretty handy in a Stratos also.

The Fiat wasn’t a Strada at all, it was a Ritmo! Not too great on cars are you and, you failed to mention the Vauxhall Firenza that you probably had no idea what it was. I watched Stig many many times in the 1980’s in various group B cars. The Renault 5 isn’t a Turbo 2 at all as the giveaway is the Renault logo is central on the bonnet hence, it’s a mark 1! The same rule applied to the road cars also.

The reg on the Fiat is PYP 606Y. Which is a Strada. Not too great on cars are you. As for the Firenza I wasn’t near it enough to film properly, as for no idea in what it was. Search Vauxhall Big Bertha, I’ve ran cars along side this many time, so trust me I know what one is.

Well in 1984 when he won the WRC, he was “the stig” and today, is still one of the best drivers alive 👍 so yeah, he’s the real stig in my book

The original Stig and one of the best rally drives period! Could drive anything. Once followed him on a road section, which was sheet ice on the RAC rally, he was driving a Saab 96. Soon gave up as his car control was unbelievable on another planet..
