From a 25-year-old daughter whose mother's only life goal was to have kids, please find something you are passionate about, a career you enjoy, a hobby. My mum devoted her life to us but now that my brother and I have grown up, moved out, have our own careers, it's so sad as a daughter to see my mum so "empty" with no passion for anything, no other goals. Wishing you the best of luck for this new chapter in your life ❤️ P.S hope this message comes across well, English isn't my first language.

so often, youtubers downplay the importance of going to school/ a college education. just wanted to say it's extremely heartening for someone to acknowledge the role and experience of college. not in the sense of partying/going out - but in the sense of finding YOURSELF, discovering your passions & uncovering your purpose. so happy and inspired by you!

Good. For. You. I give you and Elle credit for not seeing RU-vid as the only forever option. You were smart (or your parents did you right) for thinking big picture. You did your thing, made your money, and got out, or at least now it can just be a hobby. Too many RU-vidrs these days are clinging to these dying channels, and they can't do anything else. You're smart. I don't think you've gotten enough credit for being as smart as you have been financially and businesswise.

Girl so many of us in our mid 20s are starting/going back to school. I’m 26, I’ve been trying to go to college on and off since I was 18. At 26 I finally know what I want a career in, and it took me many jobs, many relationships, and some moves to figure out what I wanted to do. We’re all a little lost! You got this.

I feel like Blair is that childhood best friend that you don’t get to see very often, but when you do it’s like no time has passed at all. So excited to follow you on this new journey in your life. I’m one of those OG subs...first video I watched of yours was a hair curling tutorial where you used a hot pink Bedhead iron. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend watching that for the first time, and now years later in ultra HD, I still feel that way. And it’s ok to be a little lost, you’ll find your way and we’ll all be here to support you through it! Glad you’re back, and please give Teddy a big hug from all of us. 💜 🧸

I'll be completely honest that I haven't watched a video of yours in a while, but this was simultaneously the most inspiring and relatable content I've seen in a substantial chunk of time. Listlessness and loss of intention is very obviously an epidemic in the RU-vid community right now and I have so much respect for you figuring out that there might be an unexplored life beyond what you've already created for yourself. As a 26 y/o going through much the same, I understand and identify completely.

I Was Dying First I was dying to finish high school and start college, And then I was dying to finish college and start working, And then I was dying to marry and have children, And then I was dying for my children to grow old enough for school so I could return to work. Ant then I was dying to retire, And now, I am dying... and suddenly I realize I forgot to live. Don't wait for a moment for your life to "begin". Your life is now, don't forget to live it.

27 years old feeling like I have no purpose in life. I finished school, got my doctorate just to work at a job I hate. I have no passion. I feel like starting a family would help but I have no interest in going through the motions of starting a new relationship. I RELATE TO THIS VIDEO SO HARD.

I really feel for you. I was working on a PhD and living with my fiancé in America (I'm from England). I had my life mapped out but I knew deep down I wasn't happy. I was working towards a marriage and career I didn't want while living in a country that is far away from my family. So in one week I quit my PhD, called off my wedding and headed home. I thought of myself as a failure for a while and was put on anti-depressants and attended therapy. I felt like I had let myself down and the people who have supported me over the years. Fast forward two years later and I'm married to the man of my dreams who encourages me to do what I'm most passionate about - writing and painting. Long (boring) story short, give it time. Life is unpredictable. Have long term goals, but know that if nothing comes of them, something different and perhaps even better is waiting around the corner.

How you describe your feelings is the most articulate explanation of what depression feels like for a lot of people. What you're feeling, "waiting for your life to start" sort of equates to a quarter life crisis. Its normal. Reevaluating what your needs really are and what you find fulfilling helps but it's a struggle getting there. Good luck on this chapter in your life and thank you for putting into words what so many people feel.

So weird I'm an OG subscriber for maybe 10 years and randomly saw this video. When Blair started on RU-vid she was part of the OG youtube elite like Panacea81, Leesha, lolipop26 etc back when this industry was pure and real si thus is nostalgia. I miss those youtube days.

I feel like you are rare, we see now a lot of RU-vidrs and instagramers who never grow up, never wanna leave move up or mature because of money. They are past 25, adults, and they still do and in the mentality of what they did at 16-17...just for money. You are honest, you are mature, you acknowledge that this virtual world and living in LA is not a real life to live forever. I really admire you for this and for being honest and not being afraid to say you know what, I am mature now and I need to start a new chapter.

You were the VERY FIRST RU-vidr I watched and followed for over 10 years. I loved watching your tutorials and hauls back in the day when you filmed in your bright hot pink bedroom! You were honestly one of the best and very first OG "RU-vid gurus" back then. (I learned how to curl my hair and used to store make up brushes inside jars with beads because of you!) I'm happy for all of your accomplishments in your teenage/early adult years and that you were smart about saving your earnings for later in life. As more influencers joined the RU-vid scene I've been falling behind on your content and I apologize for that. However, I am happy to know you are doing fine and for taking the time and courage to film this life update. It's nice to see a familiar face on RU-vid again and hearing your stories. I am beyond excited for the next chapter in your life with school and moving back closer to home, I look forward to these new types of videos soon! I feel like I've been growing up with you too, now that I'm going into my late 20s I feel like my "life goals" aren't going to be achieved anytime soon either. It does put me in a depressing rut sometimes when I am comparing my current situation with my comfortable bf to my married friends and people on social media flaunting their cute kids. I am also dying to become a mom and to feel THAT family life sooner than later. I'm glad you are open and honest about this topic and I don't feel so alone/ashamed after hearing it from somebody relatable and admirable. So thank you for this!!! :) I'm sorry for your heart break but I am wishing you all the best in finding a new man with similar interests and fulfill your mom/family goals! Until then, I hope you are surrounded by constant love and support from your friends and family! I hope you don't let the rude comments ruin your day. Some people like to rain on other people's parade. It's sad some people can't just appreciate a nice update video without attacking you and accusing financial burden... You don't owe anybody an explanation, just do you and whatever makes you happy. P.S. Please show us Teddy in your next video! I hope he will still be "thriving & surviving" in the next update!

I completely understand the sentiment of "I'm waiting for my life to start." The one thing I've wanted most in life is to be a mom. The second was to be a doctor. Well, I ended up changing my mind around the age of 20 to become a physician assistant instead (less schooling, still a medical provider, not stuck in a speciality that would require another residency) anyways...6 years later, I'm graduated from grad school and in my first job in Orthopedics and I still feel like my life isn't complete. That desire to be a mom is always nagging me in the back of my mind. I often feel inadequate, even though I've accomplished how much in my life.

Blair, this is the most honest video you have made, ever. You do not sound ungrateful or entitled, not in this video at all. I feel like this year really made you grow up. The quarter life crisis is a real thing, and I think college, even if it's a few classes or an associate's degree will indeed enrich you in many ways. By the way, whatever you chose to do: 1) don't rely on relationships for your happiness 2) whatever you do, don't wait for it to be perfect, just be consistent and stick to it. By just doing, not overthinking, just doing, you will surely find your path. Good luck xx

I think we've been conditioned to think that by mid to late 20s we got everything in our lives together, a stable career, planning a wedding, kids etc. I feel like I grew up watching you and Elle. Truth is, we never really stop growing up, changing and making goals. I've been there too asking myself "now what?". But Blair, one thing i learned from watching you for yeaaaaars, is that you have always been strong and determined regardless of what life throws at you. So Get it girl! I too went back for a second course in college at 26, (had to stop coz of health issues) But i loved it! and again its okay that my plans changed too. so enjoy the present & live in the moment. Let the future & the universe surprise you. cheers to a new chapter

Depression isn't about how hard you have it. It's about how your brain and your body are able to process the things going on around you. I have a family member who was notorious for saying things like, "people are dying of starvation, how are you depressed?!" That's just not how it works. Other people's struggles do not negate yours. The best thing you can do for yourself is acknowledge how you're feeling and get help. I'm so proud of you and anyone else that finds the strength to push through and get help! ❤❤

Girl that’s amazing you’re going to school. This is a great decision. I went to college out of high school then stopped after a year then went back at age 24 and finished at 26 almost 27 and I was 8 months pregnant at graduation! Long story short I wanted to keep pushing myself so I went back again at age 30 for a masters and again at 33 for a PhD and now I’m graduating for the final time at age 37 with 2 kids. Point is that There are no rules and I think it’s smart and brave that you’re doing this! You’re going to feel a tremendous amount of pride and confidence when you realize what you’re capable of. No one will blink twice at your age, nor will they even know and who cares anyways. This is your life and you’re in the drivers seat! No one will ever be able to take away your education. Best of luck!

When I found you, I was 14, in 2009. I was very depressed because of very traumatic family issues going on that still affect me. The way I would cope with it was by rearranging my small bedroom at super late hours because I had bad insomnia. I would look up bedroom tours at 3 AM on school nights from girls who were around my age and your 2009 bedroom tour was the first one I ever watched. Being depressed you don’t always have the desire or energy to clean or take care of yourself, at least that’s how I get. It was incredibly hard to see the point in any of it. Your super early room tours helped me tremendously giving me ideas, pulling me out of negative thoughts with your bubbly personality. I just now today came back to find your channel/see how you’re doing 10 years later, and you’re once again motivating me in a much different way. I ended up dropping out of highsxhool in 2010 and had not been back to school since then. I get down thinking I’m 24 and haven’t done one college course I’m pathetic. But you’re proving those negative thoughts of mine wrong. showing me that there are other people of all ages, successful or not, that still haven’t done college. You and I are completely different people, I’m not girly or feminine in the slightest, but somehow from a distance you’ve taught me a lot about how strong I really am. I’m not even a fan of yours or anything like that to be completely honest, you’ve just helped, and that is extremely powerful. I wish nothing but the best for you on your new journey through life, you deserve everything good that comes to you

I feel like this is going to be huge phenomena in early RU-vid stars (pretty sure it's happening with a lot of people that used to be big on RU-vid at the moment, either their channel is dying or they aren't that relevant anymore and they have pretty much "made it" in the way of child stars... they've been successful, made a bunch of money and/or fame and now everyone is asking "what's next?!" They've achieved all they can achieve, but they're still young, too young to retire and are seeking their "true purpose" in life... I've seen a lot of people turn towards further education or spiritual guidance, and that's a good thing. I think it would be really sad if people in this situation were not to acknowledge that they need something more in life. Still doing RU-vid even though it no longer fulfills them spiritually or mentally would be hella depressing. Good on you for actively seeking that something that is missing in your life💕 I bet you find your purpose when you are happy and doing "you" in your new city. When you are happy and fulfilled and loving yourself and you new life, that is when things will fall into place for you.

Yey for taking us along! Thank you so much for your honesty. I'm 32, on my second year of university. I believe we are all being called to find our truest deepest truth and center. I see this in you as well. You are so strong, so blessed with light, it is lovely! I hope you find a pace and a gentle way with yourself, not being too hard on yourself for the unclarity. We shift and change and grow all the time and having gone through many stints of depression, anxiety and eating disorders myself, I have found that the only thing we really can do, is be present in this very moment. That is really all we can do to live our best life. Be here now. It´s okay to be confused. It´s okay to not know what you want. Our culture is so obsessed with being productive, always moving forward, always having a clear status. That is not sustainable. You are enough just as you are. I have been following along since the beginning and am so happy to hear from you again. I am so excited for your new situation and would love to see more! Take care, best of luck, thanks you so much for sharing!

Thank you so much for sharing. I relate SOOO HARD to everything you're saying-maybe not the exact circumstances, but the exact feeling of depression and lack of purpose/passion-down to the fear of dying young, despite or due to having lived a privileged life. It's especially hard when you, likely myself, have always been passionate/ambitious/artistic think-outside-the-box type person, and suddenly that part of you is just...gone (during depression). Thank you so much for opening up about your story; it takes courage and this video really shows your growth since your teenage makeup days (yep long-time subscriber here). I honestly think it's a quarter-life crisis. I'm a couple years older than you and have my university degree but have also decided to return to grad school this year (at a time where most my friends are graduating/have graduated with phd/jd/md's already). So I feel you as well about starting late due to having had a nonconventional career so far (and the not wanting to explain what you do on a first date, ugh, lol), as well as feeling perhaps some of my dreams/priorities were misplaced throughout my teens and early twenties. Anyhow I hope school and life is going well for you!

depression and mental health does NOT discriminate. It does not matter how much money you have, where you come from, family values, religion, and so on. GIRL i feel this video so much. I would beat myself up for my mental health struggles because I'm so well off. That's not the case, we ALL deserve to thrive.

I am so proud of you, all your hard work over the years, and your courage in coming out to say what wasn't obvious or apparent to the rest of us on the other side of the screen. I haven't been with you for 10 years, but it has definitely been a long time! Your and Elle's videos brought me so much joy since around 2011/2012 and was especially helpful for me through 2014/2015. Those years of my life I was in high school/early college and your RU-vid channels along with a few others were what I looked forward to the most after a long day at school and wanting to "escape from the world." From classic "What's in My Bag" and "Room Tour" videos or makeup tutorials to GlitzyGlam to Skylark to your books I was so happy to follow you two through all your successes. I even met you and Elle once at Barnes & Noble while you were on book tour! I'm happy to follow you through all the big and exciting changes in your life and in Elle's life and I'm glad you could tell your subscribers about the difficulties and feel comfortable in being transparent when people haven't always been kind. I have to admit that I hadn't followed a lot of yours and Elle's recent videos lately in the past 2-3 years but whenever I do find a new video it brings me so much joy to see that your personalities are still the same! RU-vid has changed a lot in the past 10 years but it is still comforting to know the original RU-vidrs I looked up to still want to make videos for themselves because they enjoy making videos and feel less and less like it has to be a job. I never thought you were a sell-out for going after sponsorships or business strategies because that's what RU-vid has really become recently and it's understandable in your position. But I can understand that it is draining to always please people and try to say the right thing all the time. Keep being the positive, spunky, YOU that made me turn to RU-vid in the first place (: Congrats on college and best wishes. Much love! xoxoxo

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11 I know life didn’t work out the way you had envisioned, but it’s always encouraging for me to know that God has a plan that is bigger than ours. While we don’t know what the future holds, He does! He has a great purpose for your life and I’m excited to see where He takes you after college!

I enrolled in college at 26 too, and im on my last year. I graduate this yr! Its totally okay!! Ive been watching you for 10 yrs, you saying going to college at 26 makes me feel better about myself. I actually had kids before going back to college, i feel like i did everything backards, and always felt bad about my life. So you, waiting on kids and waiting for that special person is admirable. I think you going to college is a good choice, get your mind off of things, you could discover other passions, pick up other hobbies, meet new people, new friends. Ive met awesome ppl and you get involved with other communities withing your new career, i think it a great idea! I totallly understand you feeling lost. I think what you can do right now is find peace within yourself, in your mind and heart. You got this. Take your time, youre young and beautifull. Everything happens in divine timing xo :)

Been there! 5 years relationship. 4 years engagement. He came home and abruptly he said he didn’t want to be with me anymore. I thought I would live happily ever after with this man. But he didn’t want it anymore. Come to find out he wanted to be with someone else. So yeah I relate. Good for you for moving on. I have and now I’m with a guy that truly makes me happy.

Wow, this makes you come across really... relatable. If I had accomplished so much early in my life, I'd probably be experiencing all of the same insecurities. You came from a high level of privilege and success at an early age, so unless that level of success is maintained or surpassed as you move forward in life, disappointment is inevitable. Like a reality check (not to sound rude, we all have reality checks, right). I don't want you to get your hopes up and think that college is the end-all-be-all answer to unlocking a magical future... it could be good for your worldview and gaining skills, but you have a solid resume already that probably surpasses the face-value of a degree. College is certainly a good path to take to occupy and challenge yourself, to get yourself on track if you are going through depression and need a sense of direction. It would be good for you. Anyway, I appreciate this video, it makes you seem VERY normal and relatable. Good luck!!!

This is one of the most real and open videos I have seen you post in such a long time. I have been a fan of yours for years and years but stopped watching after a while because it didn’t feel authentic. Thank you for being real with us. And also thank you for being real with yourself. Sometimes life has a way of catching us off guard. I think once you find your footing and are settled into your new life changes you will discover that it is so much better than what you could have ever imagined your old plans to be like. In situations like this people often discover later on that the major changes that took place were actually a blessing in disguise. I’m sorry you’ve been through a hard time, but I’m also excited for you and your new adventures.❤️ Don’t ever think it’s too late to change things. The mindframe that there is a time limit to our best years only becomes true when you accept it to be true. You are far too vibrant to subscribe to such a limiting mindset.❤️

You can totally open up your channel to a larger audience, and a younger audience! Your style and organization will be so helpful for college students, even if you're older than them (actually especially because you're older than them). Going to college will open up opportunities for your "real" life, but also for your channel. I can't wait for your new chapter!!!!

But when she started talking about finding her person, and only working until getting married and that is when her real life will start. That, I about started crying, I related to that so much. In a way i still do. I recently had a breakup with my bf who I perceived as my person, and after that I still find myself not knowing what to do or who I am. What is next? I've thought about going back to college as well. It's just all so difficult, but I get her

Blair, I'm so excited for you! I have also followed you for a long time and I'm excited you'll take us with you on this new chapter. Going to school changed my life once I found the university I wanted to go to.. I went there with some credits from another college in a field I ended up not liking, not knowing what I was going to do there.. and I found my passion where I never thought it would be. From social sciences and arts to computer science, neuroscience and statistics! I learned so much about myself, what I am capable of and how big the world really is, far beyond the personal stuff. My depression (and anxiety!) has been on and off, and sometimes pressure is hard to deal with. However, going to school and dedicating myself to learning more about things that fascinate me endlessly has always kept me out of 'the bad place', and has also helped me gain perspective in my personal life. I hope you'll experience this too, and realize that YOU will make YOU happy, and the rest will truly follow from there on!

Oh Blair this made me cry so much. That quote you said "I feel like I am waiting for my life to start." You are not alone in this feeling at all Blair. I will be 30 this year, have a toddler and a husband and I still feel that way. Not that I am unhappy with them, because I absolutely love my family, but I understand. You are waiting for the magic ahha moment. I will tell you, it takes times. It takes to realize that noone or nothing will make you feel complete except for YOU. I work on this everyday of my life. Depression is such a horrible, controlling thing, but you can and will beat it, I promise. Know that you are not alone and that we love you girl. Keep your head up 💕

I'm 32, married 8 years and counting, 3 kids. My brother passed away 5 years ago and it completely broke me. We live with my parents, I have no job, and I have no idea what my future holds. I feel like I'm nothing. I have to start over at some point, but I haven't healed since that happened. Many hugs and wishes to you.

I watched this on 2X speed so I could finish this quick, but this is my first time ever commenting on a video of yours in the 10 years watching you. I am so proud of you and think you’re doing what’s best for you!!! I have definitely related to that “not really sad about losing the person themselves, but the idea of my future life I wanted”. Also, I hope that aside from just going to college, you look into going to therapy, if you’re not already!!! Best of luck girl!

Dude.... I felt this hard!!! I had a super hard breakup last June, I felt my life was over and lost the whole plan I had and that’s truly the hardest part. I had no drive, no passion. I spent the last year in college and just finished getting my license in dental assisting and met some amazing new friends for life, found some passion, got a dream job at an amazing clinic, and still have so much life ahead of me! You’re gonna love college! I still may go back to actually become a dentist!!! I found what I like and have no doubt you will to! You will absolutely find yourself, you have your whole life to work so just enjoy the journey and don’t stress!
