Being a NYC based theatre composer I can easily attest to the truth of what you're saying: this business, whether on land or at sea is BRUTAL and not for the weak or weary. I know my "on land" theatre friends and colleagues would benefit greatly from your self-care routines. The PROBLEM is that we're such sensitive people!!! :)
As a former ballet dancer who got turned away because I'm 6ft and ended up giving up. I am so proud you continued with dance and that royal values you.
Hi Kristine! Been watching your channel since your last contract, but I don't think I ever commented before. Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy them! :) I found the section about the food being lacking very interesting, I'd love a "what I eat in a day" video, or something similar. In particular, I'd love to see exactly what it is you dislike and why so (not your style of food, food quality, other?). Best of luck for your upcoming shows, sending love!
Great vlog! I’m happy that you are so in tuned with your mental and physical state. You’re beautiful, articulate, adventurous, athletic, determined, intelligent and honest. Enjoy your journey and thank you for sharing.
Dear Kristine, thank you again for all those informations. I am a line dancer teacher in Québec Canada. You are a source of inspiration. Have a nice day 🙂
What a great, heartfelt look into your life. I am sure that many cruisers never stop to think about the lives of those lovely people on the show stage. Allow me to suggest that, perhaps after your shipboard life comes to an end (years from now) you will compile your journals and re-watch your vids as you write a truly interesting and fascinating book about the life and times of Kristine Kugler. Anyone who has ever cruised should want one. Forgot to say I'm in Arizona USA
@@kristinekugler Have you read "The Love Boats" by Jeraldine Saunders? A good book that was the basis for the "Love Boat" TV series back in the 1970s. It gave people a look into what going on a cruise was like. Your book might allow a look at the "Vegas" showtime part of cruising, that didn't even exist back then.
What an insightful video ! Excellent Kristine. It sounds like being aware of yourself…spiritually, mentally and physically are extremely important as you don’t have your family and familiar surroundings within reach! Finding ways to take care of You is probably so important to those around you on your ship. healthy people create healthy environments. Thank you for the video. I really really enjoyed this!
Watching from UK. I've moved from Poland almost 2 decades ago - for uni, met my husband and stayed. It's hard if you can't willy/nilly visit family/friends. I'm so grateful that you're open and honest about day to day. And sending loads of hugs for bad days x
Watching this from England! Watching ur videos always make me so excited to start working in the industry and especially looking forward to trying to perform on cruise ships! ❤
Watched from LA. Just got back from Navigator weekend run to Ensenada. Will take Quantum for a 4-night in 2025 out of LA. Thinking of retiring and doing a contract in Entertainment Tech! Looking forward to the videos on your channel. {heart emoji}
Watching from Claremont, California! I love your behind the scenes look at cruise life and seeing your beauty and youthfulness especially when you go ashore on your own time off, is magical. I love cruising, we usually do Celebrity but are doing RC to the Greek aisles in October this year. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Stumbled across your channel after cruising from Aust to NZ recently! I love love love your vlogs, went back and watched all of them😍. I am not a dancer but loved going to all the shows onboard. You guys are awesome and loved getting an insight in your lives. Love seeing you & Eve together! Stay happy & healthly and dont ever change! Watching from Adelaide - Australia🇦🇺
Greetings from Pennsylvania! Shipboard life is definitely a learning curve, as a sailor from the US Navy I spent many deployments at see for 10 months, sometimes less, and sometimes more with shore duty, etc. But it's an experience of a lifetime getting to travel and see the world. I'm glad you're able to follow your dreams and do fun things while you're at it!
Kristine, You are so engaging and informative. I ve so many questions but first many thanks for sharing your personal experience and excellent life tips. FOOD ! I always believed that crew ate the same food as guests. I would have thought that your employer would have a responsibility to maintain the health of their staff i.e. Provide what ever food is required. I mean they put plenty of fuel in the engine to keep it moving same should be for the staff. HOME ! ! for me this would be the BIG DEAL breaker. I love cruising as a guest but I love to go home. When I watch the show s onboard I so want to perform on them but I could not make the sacrifice that you make and be away for so long and miss out on the many things that you mention. Future !! You are a very special person and I look forward to continue sharing your journey through life via your vlog. Continued safe travels to you 🍀Seamus🍀 Dublin Ireland.
Watching from Va Beach! I’m a “dance mom” whose daughter will be on Wonder of the Seas starting this summer 🙏 These videos have been so helpful for us both 🫶
Thank you for sharing this, Kristine, you're an excellent communicator...When it comes to the meals you and the crew should be fed the best the ship has to offer... Those mess hall meals look like grammar school cafeteria food...🤗🤗 subscribers that are cruising along should invite you and some of the cast to dine with them...just a suggestion... Stay Healthy, Happy and not Hungry... 😊
Watching you from Melbourne, Australia! Going on Ovation to NZ next March, hopefully you will still be on the ship then. love your videos, keep up the great work
Hi Kristine. As you know I love your channel. That was such a open and honest vlog. Thank you! I have cruised a bit and spoken to crew who have reflected on cruise life. I was thinking it must be difficult if a cast member leaves the ship too, due to illness or injury. It would change the whole dynamic. People coming and going from the ship all the time? I am watching from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺. Rob
Hi Kristine!! Thank you so much for this video!! I will be starting my first contract in August. I loved your video, and I appreciate you touching up on mental health especially!! 😇 This will be my first time on a cruise.. ever! Any advice?!
I’m watching this from Brisbane, Australia. On the VERY outskirts… literally the last suburb on the Northside of Brisbane. 🇦🇺 Technically, I live in a small town called Caboolture
Hi Kristine - watching from Elmwood Park, NJ. Thanks for such an informative video - you are such a cutie 😊. Just wondering - you mentioned that if you want to make a big change in your appearance that you have to get it approved. Is there a hair salon on the ship where you maintain your cuts/color (if that applies)? Do you do your own nails or is that something that is available to you on board as well? I hope you are able to secure contracts for many years to come! All the best!
Hi Kristine! I am watching from Los Angeles. Thank you for being so transparent. I love you. I used to date a woman who worked on a cruise ship and I know the ups and downs. I am surprised about the crew mess. Is it not as good or have the variety as the Windjammer?
Wow K what a great vlog You’re so honest and give great advice I spoke with Lera sync swimmer on Oasis now She noted just after returning from Covid ship life was real tough HR didn’t do enough for mental health Hopefully they’ve improved that with team building internal counselling etc You didn’t mention your faith as a strength but that would help many perhaps? I’m a retiree and have applied to various lines as a lecturer taken all the courses and waiting for an opening Shorter contracts thankfully K I think you could become a spokesman for mental health for Royal or your own therapy advisor Food for you guys too bad Can’t u go to WJ or officers mess? As well
After watching this I realized I saw you perform on Ovation during the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise. I think I can even make you out in some of my pictures of the the Live, Love, Legs show. First time I was on the ship with a cruise vlogger and I didn't even realize.
@@kristinekugleri found one of the pictures of the show that it looks like you were front and center in, and tagged your fan page in case you want to see.
Watching from Tulsa, Oklahoma and right now we have ping pong size hail raining down....lol. I like to watch cruise related vids to give me a little 15 min vacay to escape! I was in the Navy onboard ship and seems like the ship life is the same....we pulled into port and most of the "happily married" folks were walking off into a notell motel w/ a hooker on their arm because "anything that happens at sea stays at sea"...(or at port calls). And they all go home to see their spouse like they were virgins for the last 6 months on deployment!
I'LL be heading to working aboard ships,I've been watching many many videos especially of yours about what its like, its been over a year so I've been adjusting and setting my mind on whats its like to work aboard, most things I don't really have an issue with especially small cabins and food in mess etc, plus I always wanted to work on the ocean,do you think I will be okay or do you think you can adjust to what's it gonna be like before you sign on??
Waitttt so is cheating in relationships the norm or is it just more common to have open relationships? Because I feel there’s a big difference between the 2 and cheating should never be ok…
Hey Kristine, I’m from Sydney. Love your channel. We love cruising and one of the highlights for me is the food so I was really surprised by your comments about food. Tell me, as crew members: I imagined you guys would have access to the same food passengers do. Do you ? If not, I’d be interested to see what is available for crew. btw - I worked at OPT in Sydney last season. Actually saw you once racing out into the city on a turnaround. I wanted to call out to you and steel a cuddle but by the time I noticed you, you were too far away and I couldn’t leave where I was working. So, sending virtual hugs xo. 👍
Wow thank you so much! The food we get on a daily basis in the crew mess is usually described as “sometimes what the guests get but 2 days after the guests get it” 😅😂 Aw I can’t believe you noticed me that’s so sweet! So sorry I didn’t see you! I miss Sydney so much, what a beautiful city. Have a great day!! 😊❤️
I’m flattered you replied. Thank you. 2 days after guests get it? ….hmmm don’t think I’d like that. Say, I’ve noticed crew and guest performers eating in Windgammer along with passengers in the past. We’ve even developed friendships with crew and to this day still send messages to each other on social media. Are crew still allowed to eat with guests ? If yes, maybe you could venture out on the odd occasion and treat yourself. Just a thought 👍😘
@@nickscrenci8125 Yes, it’s definitely lower quality than what the guests get :( As performers we have the privilege to eat dinner in the Windjammer between 8-8:30 for $3 and have to be dressed in theme so it’s not typically an everyday thing! We are allowed to eat with guests if we have family or friends onboard. :)
I find it interesting that at 5' 9" you're considered tall for a show dancer. I always pictured them as being very tall - but that's probably because of the heels. (Watching from Philly suburbs)
I had a question about the food available. As a dancer how many calories do you need to maintain your energy and stamina? And what's your favorite on board food ?
I don’t track calories, but my favorite food on the whole ship is Jaime’s Italian restaurant! I only go there on special occasions but the food is delicious
Isn't the food the dancers eat the same food the guests get? I think you'd be better off eating salads and beans than those noodles... especially since you're a dancer. I would love it if you show us how you do your makeup because your makeup looks amazing! And I have a question: did you whiten your teeth? You have a perfect smile! Thanks for a fascinating video! ♥♥♥♥♥🧸
@@kristinekugler Thank you very much for answering me! How exciting! Can you show us what the staff of the workers and the entertainment staff on the ship eat? I'm really looking forward to your video about makeup! Have a nice day!😘😘
do you get to choose the shows you get cast in? or the parts? what if you have an objection to something being portrayed? i had an issue in college where i was part of the dance team but had to leave because i was not keen to dance during a particular song that went against my morals and what i believe in as a christian.. ps im from India!
I completely understand that! If we’ve had a contract in the past, we can put in a request for the ship we want to do next but it’s never a guarantee. If you get offered a show you don’t want to do, you can always turn it down.
