The condition of that stallion was appalling. Between the extreme malnutrition The disgusting mouth else’s, that extended right through his tongue, gums and lips and outside his mouth, and then the hot joint infection. It is disgusting the state he was in. That humans allowed him to get in that state. and stay in that state for months if not years while he probably was shuffled around from auction to auction, defies the imagination all to get some money for him. Some people really are very inhumane, and the whole slaughter pipeline needs to be shut down so that this sort of cruelty cannot continue for the sake of profit. Rest in peace, minor. 😪❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻
It is a curable infection. If they are trying to raise money for they operation, they should show at least that they are dedicated and willing to attend to difficult cases. Yet another horse goes to the slaughter. What they are raising money for? Euthanasia drugs? If horse was in good condition he wouldn`t need rescue. Duh!
Thank you for giving Miner the last act of kindness. If he wasn't rescued by you God knows what torture he would have faced. These Reality of Rescue stories bring me to tears but I know you give these horses Caring, Love and Respect in their last hours. Again Thank You
@@SophieGarnier-bn7nuThe rescue group and horses are in Tennessee, America. It's a great rescue group. They rescue horses, donkeys, mules, ponies from Slaughter pipeline. Otherwise these horses, etc., get shipped to Mexico for slaughter for Human consumption. They also rescue, cats, dogs, puppies, kittens, other farm animals if needed. One auction, they even rescued a big Salcatta tortoise, and either rehomed it, or it went to another rescue place.
This poor boy, I can’t believe someone left him suffer like that. Thank god you found him and gave him the sweet release he so desperately needed. This video really does need to be sent to every law maker in Washington. Miner speaks for so many horses suffering today. Please share this video with your representatives and help change laws. Help save others from going through what this poor, beautiful soul has suffered. Can you imagine how much more this poor boy would have suffered if Horse Plus hadn’t been there?
Miner I loved from the moment I saw you. I’m so glad you’re not suffering anymore. Now you can run free! Thanks dr. Lydia and Dr. Gina for giving him the last act of kindness.
Very very very sad to see such a beautiful and gentle animal reduced to such an undignified and pitiful state. May he be resting peacefully, pain free x
These updates on individual horses whilst heartbreaking are very interesting and finish off the story rather than leaving us hanging. Thank you so much.❤❤❤
Miner was a magnificent horse in his day. He probably won awards and brought in breeding fees for his owners. It is SO disgusting that he ended up in that condition. Absolutely no excuse for it.
The problem is, as stallions age, their fertility is going to drop. Plus health problems make it harder as they age. Plus owners may have run into financial hardship, but that's still not an acceptable excuse to starve and neglect animals. If his former owners cared about him, they would have gelded him, and found him a more caring loving home. If he won ribbons and trophies, he would have been valuable no matter what. But some owners are what's called backyard breeders, who only care about money from foals, but don't take care of their breeding stock.
I think its great that you make these hard decisions for the animals, no animal should suffer because we selfishly want them to hold on. No animal should need to get to the state he was in, but we cant control people. Be proud of your work, its amazing ♥
I will always watch your videos but i cry every time. Because of my disability, i had my dad change his will so my brother had control of the farm. Verbal agreements where made so the will would not be extremely expensive. My younger brother unfortunately passed first. I took care of Dad for 3 months until his passing, promising certain things for our 4 horses & mini donkey ( all pasture pets.) When dad passed, i was not allowed back on the farm since everything went to my 17 yr old neice who was not informed of the verbal agreements made. I thankfully was permitted to rehome my horse & my 29 year old sons 36 year old pony but the rest of the herd were rehomed at the discretion of the estate attorney & my neice who did not know my fathers wishes for his beloved herd. Everything must be officially in writing! Don't make my family's mistakes or you will never be able to have a peaceful night's sleep again.
I’m sure he must have such a beautiful horse at one time. Even with all those horrible mouth sores , he was trying to eat the hay on the ground. Terrible the way he was treated. Once again you came to the rescue. Run free Miner!
Part of his weight loss is probably caused by his mouth sores. Horses won’t eat if their mouth hurts. His mouth was very , very bad. Hopefully, he wasn’t used to for the big lick, but if he lived to be 26 years old, l think he was spared that torture. Poor baby.
Humans cause so much hurt to animals and fellow humans it amazing how they still give their hearts and trust us so much to care .Thank you all for what you do .💚☘️🤗
RIP Minor. So sad that his owners didn't treat this wound to his hock when it happened, and might not have communicated with his joint. And the ulcers in and around his mouth (how does this happen) must have been very painful and contributed to his poor body condition. You can tell that he must have been magnificent once upon a time in his life. Thank you HPHS for easing and releasing him from all his pain and suffering. Y'all are warriors and heros for the work you do.
Ulcers around and in his mouth could very possibly be caused by a starving horse eating whatever he could find, including foxheads and thistle which would embed themselves in his lips, tongue and gums.
Thank you for sharing Miner's story. This poor baby suffered far too long. Thank you for saving him from the slaughter pipeline, giving him true TLC, and freeing him from any more pain and suffering. I'm curious what would cause sores in the mouth like he had?
Poor Miner 😢. I'm glad he ended up at hphs where they were able to end his suffering. He was certainly in very bad shape. The owners should have done the right thing by him a looong time ago. Run free Miner you beautiful handsome boy 🐎❤
Bless his poor soul - spent so many years working for humans only to be let so far down - til HP came to his rescue - if only for a moment.. HP May God Keep you All Safe in his Hands
What is terrifying to me is that watching your channel for a while now, that this guy isn't the worst you have seen 😥 Thank you for doing what was best for this guy 💔
Poor baby I'm so glad he made it there so you all could do the kindest thing for him it's a shame that the owners don't love them as much as you all do
You blur the wounds. I like to see the wounds to see exactly what is going on. I strongly believe you do a great job. Thank you for helping the animals
@@hphs I saw one other horse channel, they changed the blood blue colour, so youtube will not take the video down (it was filmed in the big equine clinic)
Such a beautiful horse, he must have been stunning. It’s really hard to see the suffering - in how much pain he must have been for a long time! I am very grateful all of you are brave and strong enough to do this important yet so challenging job to save the horses out there. Even if it means to compassionately end the suffering.
Miner would have been stunning if healthy. He is healthy now, and running with friends over the Rainbow Bridge. What a patient, good boy, even with awful pains. 💔💔💔

😭😭😭😭 I'm always praying they can save them and it's a happy ending. I just hate how they have to suffer for so long before they are given the last act of kindness 💔😢
I can't watch this kind of updates. Makes me so depressive and hopeless to see this all over again. It was already in the episode. Makes me so down. So low vibration. So much darkness. I wish that instead you come back to highlight the success stories. Because good brings more good. And hope.
If anybody tell otherwise: You made a right call there. I looked some pictures on Google and I am not a Vet but I can see that it is abnormal. My guess is that bacteria was some kind of gas producing bacteria which caused that infection and bone collapse there. Bacteria also infected that Synovial Fluid which is like lubing oil for hock joint just like motor oil for cars.
Thank you so much for sending that black tennis Tennessee walking horse, giving him the act of kindness. He really looks like he’s not doing great, but at least he landed in a place where he would be treated with some respect.❤❤
Geez, there’s practically nothing left of poor Miner he’s basically a walking skeleton the poor thing. It really boils my blood that people allow horses to get to that point and do nothing about it. His owner or owners should have made the right decision for him instead of walking away. 😭
Some people have no business having any animal. This poor guy deserved so much better from his " owner" . Gonna go split wood to release the anger and hurt . Thank you to all at Horse Plus for all you do for these animals and to all your donors who help you to achieve your goals.
I can imagine how magnificent he must have been in his prime, it's a shame he was left to get into this condition in his old age. The amout of ulcers on/in his mouth makes me cringe - I know how painful even just one ulcer in the mouth can be, let alone a dozen or more and how difficult eating must have been for him. I sincerely hope he is running pain free in green pastures, eating anything and everything his heart desires in the afterlife.
It was no wonder that he was so emaciated with a mouth full of ulcers. The poor baby. Thank God that you were at the auction that he was part of. Shame on the owners.
Can you explain, why this poor horse Miner has this terrible wounds in his mouth? I'm glad that you rescued him from being sent to slaughter. So sad to see him in this very bad condition. Thank you for your kindness.
Extreme stress, lack of consistent feeding, weak immune system (viral infections can cause them). For this horse it is probably a combination of all of those.
What a beautiful horse. Thanks for all you guys for what you do I love horses I used to have when I was younger I sure wish I had another one. Put it down an ammo is not easy
Those mouth sores were 'ugly', too. Any idea of the cause? I know there are some diseases that can have mouth sores. I suppose malnutrition could create them as well. He had to be so Extremely Miserable. Thankfully, he came into your hands.
probably from trying to eat a plant that wasn't safe for horses. Foxtails, blister beetles, cheatgrass, ticklegrass, buttercups, even poison ivy or hemlock can cause blistering and ulcers in horses, especially when other forage isn't available. The vets didn't freak out and quarantine him and wash themselves afterwards, so I highly doubt it's EHV-1 or Vesicular Stomatitis.
Dear Miner: Yet again my species let yours down, letting you starve and have a bone injury. I need a dentist for a broken tooth but can't find one to take me. It hurts but l cannot even fathom the pain you were suffering in your mouth, unbearable torture. If only the clock could be turned back for you. I am thankful even for your last day you were surrounded by love. Run free and healthy forever now under the big Horse Rainbow. Much love to you. ♥️🐎♥️ Rest In Peace dearest Miner. 🌹😔🌹🕊. 🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
And the Tennessee walker association says they don't abuse their horses anymore, man what liars. I wish the law would give these owners of these horses the same treatment
No, not a Walker. 😢 The absolute best horses I ever had. Great trail horses, never even needed shoes, easy keepers and so fun to ride. Lady and Bonnie, I hope to see you in heaven. ❤❤
I know that you are trying to show the reality of rescue, but can you please every now and let us know about one that did not have to be given the last act of kindness? Every time I see a video about ‘someone’s story’ I don’t even want to watch because I know the outcome! I know this is important to show, but I also know it is important to sometimes show that rescue can help also, even in the worst adversity! ❤😊❤
My cat Maggie likes watching your horses and happen to spot the gophers. She did stop short of the screen though! I enjoy watching the horses also as usually, but not interested in chasing gophers LOL. Keep up the good work.
Awe,Baby,... I just cannot fathom why someone would allow an animal to get into this condition. Give them up to a vet,or a rescue place. Dont sell them for $50.00 maybe. God will get you for it.
I'm getting a horse, once I get her I'm going to have a vet look at her, but she's had a blown front left knee for longer than 2 years, don't know how she got it, and I don't know how long after the 2 years shes had it, the people I'm getting her from rescues her from a place that didn't care about her because of the injured and, she was scared of them because of the injury, the people I'm getting her from have always just given her pain meds the vets suggested they never figured out what kind of injury, like muscle, joint, etc, she walks with a little limp, but the more she walks the more the limp will become, but if there is a way to help reduce her pain, or somehow make it heal even if its a small surgery (yes I get surgery is bad, but if its a slight procedure a vet would agree to) , if giving her the last act of kindness is the only way, then I'm do it, but if there's anyway, any hope in helping her more, please someone give me some suggestions. the only reason I'm taking her, is because she's bonded to me, despite being in pain/limping she talk, and start walking to me, even though I try to go to her, and ever one at the ranch had said she acts really different (in a good way) with me. I believe if there's a way to fix her injury that she would try and would fight (fight to heal) I just want the best for her, so any comments that could help, or suggestions, or for me to try certain things, or even certain vets that may be about to help, please (I live between San Diego and Los Angeles, if anyone know some good vets to possible help). please I want the best for her, she's also my first horse, so I'm hoping the last act of kindness won't have to be used.
I can personally recommend Dr Merle at Conejo Valley Equine - you can find her online if you search Dr Merle DVM. She and her colleagues took wonderful care of some horses I worked with in Malibu.
As the owner of 6 "rescues" over the years, I assure you that there are ways to help her! First, X-rays are needed so you know what you are dealing with. An ultrasound may also be needed. (Many vets have portable X-ray and ultrasound machines.) Don't let anyone tell you daily pain meds are bad! I had a gelding on Bute daily for 15 years. (Prevacox didn't help him.) He had annual blood work done and NEVER had any results out of the normal range. We did manage his dose depending on the seasons. He was fed 3 meals a day and always had hay in his net. He never had any stomach issues! He did much better in the colder months. Humidity bothered him the most. We gave him enough Bute to keep him comfortable (non-lame) at a walk and trot. Too much pain medication and he ran around like a dingbat and his shoulder would hurt. (He had been severely beaten and injuries were the result of those beatings, including a fracture in his skull.) He was a companion horse only and we did not ride him. We used ice if his knee swelled. We had an awesome massage therapist and chiropractor who gave us exercises to support his overall well being. We designed our barn so that his stall opened into a large paddock that opened into the pasture at night once the other horses were in. He was not a fan of another horse invading his "bedroom", so his paddock gate was closed during the day. He could visit the other horses over their paddock fences at night and he made his rounds! He was king of the barn and the sweetest horse I've ever owned. We have security cameras in the barn and pasture and the videos are adorable! We said goodbye to him right before his 36th birthday. Our vet was wonderful and supportive of all the choices we made to give Doc a wonderful retirement. (He had been used as a barrel racer before we adopted him.) Yes, special needs horses require that you pay attention to every detail, listen to them, adjust care as they age and be prepared to spend a lot of time doing what they love! Long, daily grooming sessions allow you to get to know what is their normal and what may need intervention. Hands on, everywhere, every day! Choose a farrier that knows how to pick up the foot of a horse with knee issues! Kindness and patience matter!!! Lameness does not have to be a death sentence! Give him/her time to get better with the care that he/she hasn't had. Best of luck to you both! Sounds like this is one lucky horse!!
I tried a few hours ago to reply and recommend a vet - Dr Merle DVM from Conejo Valley Equine, who took wonderful care of some horses that I worked with in Malibu. Just came back to this section and my comment has disappeared so I'm trying again.
Poor Miner....so much wrong and he found help a bit too late. This becomes harder and harder for me to accept as it seems never ending, never better. Please, let's stop shipping to slaughter. It is diabolical to think of people feeding on such pain, eating meat which has suffered so much.
From his mouth alone... I am suspicious he came from a place that had hay or pasture infested with blister beetles. He probably had those ulcers all through his system, the poor guy. I know in the back of my mind, I always wonder what-if. ... what if money was limitless and he could be made comfortable and brought to a state-of-the art facility and given the most advanced care and stem cell therapy and and and..... then the reality sets in of his advanced age, his overall condition, the agony of long-term suffering, the chances of his body being able to bounce back and live a **good** quality life for even a maximum of a year..... and those high fantasies fade away into knowing the kindest comfort is to release him from his body.
@@Sweetpeaslovrr But who brings them into that pipeline then? The owner brings the horse to auction, but someone has to buy it and send it on. Who does that when the horse wont be accepted?
Without sugar-coating it, Big Lick killed Glimmer, and so many other horses. Prayers are nice, but they don't do much. Donate, educate yourself and others, and spread the word so we can help Horse+ end this for good.
