I just started Live Ship Traders. I started reading and I didn't realize it was part of a lager series. I'm about 80% through the first book and so far I love it. I intend to read the whole series.
These are indeed wonderful books - especially The Liveship Traders novels, which I have re-read and enjoyed even more on repeated reads. I have still to read the final book 'Assassin's Fate' because I want to keep it for a special time and to savour it. These are my favourite fantasy books ever, closely followed by Stephen Donaldson's 'Chronicles of Thomas Covenant'. I'm glad you loved the Hobb books as much as I did and I hope your re-reads of them are also just as great!
I read Assassin's Apprentice and Royal Assassin within a week and will start Assassin's Quest today. I really hope I won't dislike it as much as you do :D Regardless I'm already invested in the series and can't wait to read the remaining 14 books haha
I will say; after finishing the whole series, I love the ending of Assassin’sQuest much more. It will gain power and value later on, trust me. Happy reading! Enjoy!
You can’t read the final trilogy if you skip the Rain Wild Chronicles. Also, they’re really good! Just the first two are not up to par, but go ahead and read them, trust me.
Great video, Juan. I’m happy that we share the love for this series. To me personally, what stands out the most in these books is the bond between man and wolf. These two, Fitz and Nighteyes are my favorite characters. And that name: Nighteyes, he couldn’t have had a better name. Except for Assassin’s Quest, I don’t feel the books should have been edited down, the plot never sagged and wasn’t unnecessary long in my opinion 😉
A really great overview. I gave up after 2 books of Farseer but this discussion made me reconsider, especially the way you praised her writing. Maybe I can read a plot summary of Assassin's Quest and jump to Liveship? 🙂
Love your capacity of reading and reviewing. 'Spoiler Free', yes ! THKS! By the way and this Is just me, I find the term 'magic system' annoying. So widely used by fantasy booktubers, great ones, and I still find the concept irritating.THKS again.
I didn't gel with Farseer but I am going to try Liveship. I have been trying to find some good fantasy to read while waiting for Winds for winter, but had no success. Sanderson has arcady action and prosaic writing, Erikson has sublime plot but poor characters. I have been looking for an excellent balance between plot and characters, along the lines of HP or ASOIAF. I don't care a lot about complex magic system or extremely unique world. I am not deterred by complexity or dense writing if it is in service of good plot and characters. So, if there are some recommendations by fellow readers, those would be greatly appreciated.
