One of the biggest reasons I had no idea that The New Gate was getting an anime was because when I saw it's image on anime lists for the season Shin did NOT look like how he does in the manga. It wasn't until I started seeing trailers that I actually realized what I was looking at.

They shame us for saying booba is changing sizes, it's called consistency!! stick to one size the constant changing distracts us! You'd be amazed how a jump scare of double Ds does to a person watching an anime and then BAM those things just pop outta nowhere!. Love the series but the quality in production has me wondering if i can stomach it long enough to finish.

'The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases' is probably the worst rated anime this season but even its animation was consistent.

I think I already mentioned it on an another episode. It looks bad, very very bad. But it is fun.

I like the show, and i'm not really bothered by the graphical inconsistency. I would watch a season 2. I honestly hardly notice it on a first view. probably because i'm paying more attention to the subtitles then the art style.

I don´t know if it´s a good thing or bad that the quality dropped after the first few episodes. Because now I´m kinda determined to finish the series, even if it looks bad. If it was that bad from the start, I probably wouldn´t have even touched it. (And saved myself some time and pain.)

Are you still watching Season 2 of Ancient Magus’ Bride? I’m only asking because I haven’t seen reviews of further episodes. It was really good.

Yeah I can honestly say this series deserved so much more. And I will say, they do make use of the manga panels. The LN for what its worth, is one of the best isekai LNs for me. Not comparable to of the so called "isekai greats" of course, but it is enjoyable. When I saw the anime I was devasted, because The New Gate never deserved this.

Idk if you watch remonster and ragna crimson but both had amazing dubs this season too if you don’t feel like reading lol

to be honest with you guys its better you read the source for better experience couse im watching this just becouse it atleast give me the satisfaction of seeing this be animated even though it suck ass brcouse at the end of the day the reason we manga reader want an anime version of what were reading is to see it be animated

the show itself story wise seems rather nice, production is shite though I may look at the manga if there is one before looking at the novel

I'm glad Schnee took care of that demon quickly, it was gross to look at. It is funny how she's rushing through things, she's so worried about Shin. Poor Tiera is forced to match her pace.

I don't watch the show but I've been on twitter and I've seen the whole debacle in terms of the studio so let me give you the info I've gathered. So... Yokohama Animation Studio is currently working on 2 shows this season... One if a yuri ( I think it's called Whisper Me a Love Song) that has been praised by some of my discord friends of having a really good source material and the other is Mad Gate. The yuri show has had a doomed production from the get go. The director which initially took to do the show quit after they made the first 2-3 episodes due to the working conditions and so did a lot of the staff. The CEO of the company has been scrambling around the industry trying to save it but is unsavable atm. Still, they managed to get to ep 9 before it got delayed but the outsourcing was definitely there and the staff that did stay to work on it was very few and thus the animation and some weird cuts were there. Like in one of the scenes where they were singing but there was no mics on stage... It just showed how bad the working conditions were and the outsourcing wasn't helping either. Most of the staff that was on that show went to The Mad Gate and there have been a few leakers from the studio saying it's on life support so it's no surprise that these episodes have been so inconsistent. The amount of work the staff had to do was probably too big that they had to outsorce a lot of it. And that brings me to my next point... They also had another project next season which was Demon Hunter's Sword and it got delayed hard to 2025. That project would've been cooked if they aired it next season since I doubt they even have an episode finished right now and it was said to have 2 cours to it. When people talk about the bad working conditions at Mappa... You gotta say there are far far worse out there then just Mappa... It's an industry wide problem and with the amount of anime being produced at the moment... We're at a stage that it could collapse at any moment and we can't do nothing but watch as the fire rages from one studio and production to another. Its the visuals for me as well. Story is fine, the characters are relatable, but the inconsistencies, and the visual effects really got me. Even if it gets a season 2, which I highly doubt in this case, at the rate that its going, I'd still watch it, because I'm already involved into the story and the characters. Also, I'm curious to see how the studio is going to recover or fall into non-existence. You never know sometimes, where they decide that they will rely less on outsourcing their animation. We shall see. Until then, Enjoy!!

It’s like this seasons is season of production issue because this is not the only show having issues that I’m watching it happened with Whisper me a love song great Yuri series but similar to this anime production the staff crew for whisper had enough bullshit and walked out and ever since ep 3 they’ve been outsourcing and delayed the next ep for two weeks. Misfit of a demon king is having terrible shitty cgi dragon if you can even call them dragons and they also had to delay the next ep on a season that’s already had massive delay before so oof this season.

I like how Shin gave his sympathy towards the knight and how they both agreed about how wild the princess is.

I already gave up on the visuals, so I stop complaining or finding faults with it >_< At the moment the story is what is keeping me coming back.

Same for me, the episode was quick for me too. And I completely agree, this anime does deserve more, it's been quite the good watch. Now for the episode I liked the whole settlement on how things were for shin & the princess, now she gets a powerful weapon and shin gets off Scot free. As for what happened with schnee, as per usual she dominates. Lastly I hope this gets a second season, for a proper redemption in how it's done. It's fun and it deserves the same quality

Firing the manager(s) who screwed this up would help, the production makes everybody look band, I hope for a second season but it may take years to fix this mess

Bruh, Schnee and Tiera were moving at different framrates 98% into the episodes. Its like all the animation resources went into Schnee.

Maybe they all have magic items like the one Balirossa uses to adjust her breast and bottom "power levels" to fit into her knight armor.

I completely agree with you about the production (especially visuals) consistency lacking... All the characters model' change give me headaches 😖 But I do love the characters development, story and world building 😌 Honestly if this get a season 2 but with the same studio. I think I would give it a try and go read the Manga 😬 The New Gate' Anime Adaptation deserve better! I hope the Japanese Animation Industry will change for the better one day 🙏🏻

The issue for me is that I started watching this before Chillin' in Another World, 7th Prince and Reincarnated as an Aristocrat and before I'd watched those, I was perfectly fine with New Gate. Now, the come-down just hits so hard 😢

I would (probably) watch a season 2.I enjoy the story, and am finding it one of the better ones currently airing. The visuals though... they are dire! If a season 2 does appear and there is no improvement I would find it difficult not to give up and search out the manga instead.

I love this hot mess. But I love me some trash anime. This train wreck is something special. Bring on the next episode... how much more jank can we get.? Oh a season 2 same studio I am there... I want to see just how bad they can destroy the source material with Dookie production and worse quality control.

I'm still going to watch it, just for Shin and Schnee. I feel like the source material has some ups and downs in quality as well, but the lowest point is still well above average isekai junk food, so. It's a damn shame about the animation, though, it really is.

This is one of the few shows I kept watching this season. I'm not particularly focused on the animation, so it's probably less bothering to me than those who, like you, have concerns in that area. Glad you're having fun with it as well, shame if standards are slipping, but enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah, the outsourcing totally makes sense and I forgot when you brought it up that it would be a good reason as to why the the animation is the way it is lol. I actually like the show too because it's a fun show and I like the characters. Just a shame the visuals can't match the rest. Really sucks about the studio staff because that feels wayyyyy too common nowadays. That being said, this episode's best part for me was when the princess was getting ready to fight Shin, grabs this monster sword and he thinks to himself how ridiculous it looks in real life lol.

Only been watching this since you mentioned it but it just get worse as season goes on Like, it teleported them why? Stayed behind why? Schnees character model is super bland too. I like some isekai trash but this story has no direction or purpose

I read a decent amount of the manga like 2 years ago. It's just as enjoyable as the anime, but waaaaay better looking. so I say just read the manga, if you dont want to read the novel. faster (easier) to read and still good enough-

I personally don't mind it that much, it's still entertaining to me and that's what matters. Sure it would be nice if they fix whatever issues they have but the show itself is fun.

For me the worst studio is the one that is doing Unnamed Memory. They have butchered that show so bad.

What the point of his character

To be honest, I can't really tell a difference unless his eyes are just two white or black dots on his face. I really hope this anime gets a better production studio for season 2 I it ever gets one. I absolutely love this show. Enough to where I have bought the manga for it, which I have been enjoying very much. The princess seems like a fun character and falls into one of my favorite archetypes: the battle junkie. Schnee damn near had a heart attack when she thought she lost Shin. She has been loyal to him for what I can assume is the majority of her lifespan and Shin has been shitting on her feelings the whole time he has been back in the game's world. Which was both equal parts funny and sad. I love how she was inadvertently scaring the shit out of Tiera. Poor girl just wanted to see the outside world and now has to deal with not just one but two world class heroes of legend. If not for her owning her safety to Schnee and a potential crush on Shin I think she would have left the party just to protect her own sanity. The characters are so fun, and yeah its a "boring" played out story, but I have said it a million times, I don't watch anime to watch a grand psychoanalysis on what it means to be human. I watch it to laugh and ooh and awe at the pretty colors of the explosions and the pretty women. Rant over. Have a nice day and
