Laurel here! Thanks for the info. It is something I think about from time to time, this is why it is so important to trust the metrics and scopes. What we cannot hear well, we can trust these visual tools that will help us a lot.
An amazing video as per usual. I remember this Yanny/Laurel debate going viral back in like 2017; I always hear 'Laurel'. I've just started working on my own music and I'm trying to become more trusting of my ears, but I don't have the facilities for a big setup with fancy speakers. Any headphone recommendations that act as a decent alternative?
Awesome video didnt knew about of different can be the hearing between humans. Im kinda glad that i take care of my ears for my whole life. Didnt even figured out how much can the loss of hearing can become like even 50% less capture on high frecuencies on that diagram. Lets take of our ears peeps.
I've recently got a handful of people in different age range that I send my tracks to when I think they sound good to me just to make sure they actually do sound good more often than not they actually sound good... cuz I specifically buy computers that have good amps
Listening to the video on speakers I heard laurel, but when you did the tests I heard "yeah ah ee" then sped up I heard "yeah me" then the eq I heard laurel again. Trippy shit, nice video.
Only laural .. couple of years ago when I was mixing hats and other high frequences that I relized my right ear dosen´t hear anything from 8khz and up. Great video !
I think the way my phone speaker is built makes me only hear Laurel. Yanny could be with more high end speaker cause saying "Ya" gives more air and my phone could be not producing highs enough so I only hear Laurel (Haven't watched the full video btw, maybe there's will be a talk about that) Just watched the part where it says the reason why and I feel good that my analysation was on point. Slowed: Yar ee Speed: Laurel EQ: Laurel Now I wonder why the slowed and deeper tone made it sound like Yar ee. Maybe because the details with the slowed and deeper is lower.
Ahh... I realized two days eariler my left ear cant hear anything over 15kHz... My right ear is okay till about 17khz. Well its not related to the actual content but just had to tell you :D it would be a good subject for a future video. Hearling loss vs mixing or someting like that.
I hear less in my left ear too but im sure it would be balanced out if I got my ears professionally cleaned/removed of ear wax. Have you seen them ear wax removal videos? People say once they get their ears cleaned its like having super human hearing and everything is loud, so wearing headphones for the first couple of days/week(s) maybe would be severely loud and unbearable.
@OutDoonie No problem with my ear balance, simply cant hear beyond 15k at all with my left ear. Wax doesnt cause like that. My ears are clean btw. I am 40 this year so somewhat it is normal due my age.
