The amazing Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows displaying at Eastbourne International Airshow 2022 on Friday the 19th August. Enjoy this "Rolling" display with some lovely sun reflections off the aircraft today.
Literally just got home and unpacked. Was at the show for Friday, which ran late due to low cloud. No parachutists, no chinook. The Battle of Britain flight, the typhoon, the Blades and of course the Red Arrows were most enjoyable, though the wing walkers were closest to the pier, where we were standing.
I've always been a huge fan of the Red Arrows but the display at Eastbourne this year was disappointing. For a start there were 2 aircraft missing. Most of the display was so far out to sea you needed binoculars. Frankly it was not spectacular but I guess Health & Safety after the Shoreham tragedy has now put an end to yet another thing I used to love watching.
There’s been ‘personal’ problems within the team this year with one pilot essentially sacked and problems within the command structure and it was too late in the training programme so they had to resort to their « 7 » display. Hope this helps. Ian
I think the Red Arrows have become complacent with their perceived ability as 'the best'. Now struggling to maintain very old, and comparatively underpowered, jets as well as internal issues within the squadron..
